Today I was in the Uptown Design District hunting for something, ANYTHING, to refresh the décor inside my tired 2010 style guest room. And was elated to find a contemporary California art gallery actually offering unique original sculptures and decorative wall art. I have very particular tastes and need to see contemporary paintings in person to know if the style of artwork is going to work or not. I prefer abstract expressionism over figurative art. But as long as it's honest and beautiful that is really what matters most. At least that is what my interior designer friend says. Thankfully the artist, Peri G., is also the art gallery owner. I found out she can do custom work and can even locally deliver and install her art. Which is fine by me. Last time I hung a piece of art my husbands' mother threw her back out on the ladder. I had to wait two whole weeks before she could get back up there to finish the job! (I'm not being cruel, she insisted, LOL). Anyway, I am very pleased with Peri G. and her helpful staff. And am looking forward to working with her. Perhaps in my beloved patio sculpture garden too. Everything about this gallery seems quick and easy. I am in this store at least three days a week. They always have a great supply, and their weekly sales really save me money! There is always an employee stocking nearby if I need to ask a question. Michaels not only has limited stock, but their prices are high, and they usually have only one employee at checkout while the rest is self-checkout. My favorite employee at the La Quinta Hobby Lobby is Lindsey. She is always upbeat and helpful. She knows the store inside and out, so I always look for her if I'm having trouble locating an item. So many times I have had an issue making something, and thankfully Lindsey was there to suggest an item to solve my problem. I have a Christian upbringing, and one of my biggest problems with some Christians is how they judge others by the way they look. Lindsey dresses differently and has a different style than most of the employees at Hobby Lobby, and it makes me so happy that the Christian management doesn't judge her by her appearance. She is a true asset to the store because of how well she treats customers and other employees.
