Large Mezze ( £19.50 at lunchtime) - Delicious
    Tracey A.

On my first night back in London since 2019 I wanted the cuisine that Noura served but opted for another nearby place (Iran Restaurant) with a similar menu after quickly scanning Noura's yelp reviews. I went to that other place, as I had in 2019, and found that the prices had skyrocketed while the food and service were subpar. Weeks later I returned to Noura and had an experience that far exceeded my experience at the other place. Everything I ate here was excellent and the service and ambiance matched the food. That is, I liked everything about Noura no matter what the overall yelp score for the place indicates. At lunchtime, two of us opted to share a large Mezze platter (£19.50) and Kefta Kebabs (£20.50; substituted tomato rice for salad). Despite crowds on this day - the Queen's funeral - Noura offered polished service and a leisurely, thoroughly enjoyable dining experience. With its white tablecloths and quiet ambiance, Noura at lunch feels like a bit of upscale indulgence which I imagine appeals to workers at the nearby Saudi Embassy as much as it did to me. Next time I'm in the Mayfair area I won't need to check yelp reviews for Middle Eastern fare in the area. Noura throughly won me over.

    Chicken kabob with Saffron rice

Best chicken kebab of my life. Hands-down with zero question. It totally melts in your mouth. There is zero fat and this is super high-quality. The service by Marianna and Mohammed is second to none. The place is totally romantic. Cannot recommend them enough.

Empty outdoor seating that they refused to let us sit in despite having the designation of "outdoor dining available"

I am so unbelievably sad to write this review. I happened upon this place when I was in London on business in 2006. It was so good and I found everyone to be so nice. I recommended this place to everyone I know who was visiting London. Then I excitedly brought my fiancé (now husband) back in 2008. He loved it too. In August 2022 we were in London with our two young children and walked very far to come here and they refused to seat us outside. There was no one at any of the tables outside. I was so so sad. Because of Covid we relied on the Apple and Yelp designation of "outdoor dining" before walking over - PLEASE REMOVE THIS DESIGNATION AS IT IS MISLEADING. The waiter literally looked at me over the empty outdoor tables and told us we couldn't sit outside. I can't believe I was so loyal to this restaurant for so long and then treated so badly by their staff. I even took a photo as we approached in the hopes this would be a happy, joyful review because I loved this place so much. You can see the outdoor area was empty. Why would they do this to a nice family with two small children? We were forced to leave and I am devastated.

Amazing Lebanese food. I come every time I'm in London. And they are open late which is helpful. Will be back!

This restaurant used to be quite good. Not anymore. Now the food is very inconsistent and, at best, mediocre. Service is also quite poor.

Cracking dinner at Berenjak Borough. This is Persian cooking done with serious soul -- the kind of…read moremeal that makes you slow down and pay attention. Started with warm taftoon bread straight from the tanoor oven, with mast o khiar, kashk e bademjoon, and the black chickpea hummus e khanegi -- each one with its own story and so good we kept scraping the plates. Then the kababs, which are really the headline: Koobideh Kabab (lamb, properly charred and juicy) and Jujeh Kabab (saffron-marinated chicken that fell apart on the fork), served with a tray of grilled tomatoes, peppers and onions on lavash bread. Saffron and white rice with proper tahdig on the side. A pomegranate-laced Watermelon Shumpine made the meal feel like a celebration. Finished with the legendary Persian sundae -- a tower of saffron ice cream, sohan, halva and date syrup that was a proper grand finale. But the real magic here is the people. Chef Chandu and his team behind the kabab counter are absolute rockstars -- watching them work the coals while plating mazeh in the same beat is a thing to behold. Sitting next to the open kitchen while Chef Chandu performed his magic was simply mesmerizing -- Persian cooking as theatre, every kabab hitting the coals with absolute intent. Special shoutout to Teni who looked after us beautifully -- warm, attentive, and clearly proud of what the kitchen is putting out. We celebrated Chef Chandu's birthday with him sharing dessert at our table -- proper touch, on the house, made the night. Keep an eye on Chef Chandu. You can see the ambition and the craft -- Middle Eastern-Indian fusion is the natural next chapter for him, and whenever he opens his own place, we'll be first in line. Definitely recommend Berenjak -- for the food, for the team, and for the genuine hospitality that's getting harder to find. Mention this review for free smiles

My friends absolutely love Berenjak, so of course I had to see why they rave so much about it…read more Definitely make a reservation, because you will not have much luck if you are trying to walk in. Unfortunately, it seems like all the reservations are for counter seating. It was fine though, since we were able to watch them grill all the kababs in their coal-fired grill! Kept it straightforward and ordered the Feast Menu, which is £55 pp. Comes with two types of bread in Taftoon and Sangak, four starters (Mirza Ghasemi, Mast O Khiar, Hummus, and Black Truffle Olivieh), two kababs (we chose the Koobideh Kebab and Jujeh Kebab), and three sides (Shirazi, Torshi Phel Phel, and House Rice). I've never had Persian cuisine on this level as all the dishes were very unique. Even the hummus tasted like hummus I've never had before. I would say that the Jujeh Kebab took me by surprise because I don't expect white meat chicken to be very good, but this was genuinely great! Service was fine, although nothing to rave about. We were handed our bread and starters pretty quickly, but the kebabs took 25 minutes for us to get. I don't know if that was an intentional decision to space out the starters from the kababs. Since we could see that they were cranking out many kababs, maybe that was an intentional decision. I don't know. Ambience is fine. Hard to feel the ambience when we were sitting at the counter rather than an actual table. Overall, I can see why my friends love Berenjak, because everything was absolutely delicious! Worth the visit.
