I completed the IV Therapy & Blood Withdrawal Certification course at Los Angeles Career College,…read moreand I have to say--this place runs smoother than most hospital floors I've worked on. The staff was organized, check-in was easy, and the hybrid format made the whole process painless (unlike some IV attempts I've witnessed in real life). What really impressed me was how efficient everything was. Once I passed my exam, they handed me my certificate the same day--no waiting, no chasing emails, no mysterious "processing time." Just boom. Certified. I wish everything in healthcare worked that fast. Now for the real highlight: Instructor Steele Erickson. Steele is the kind of nursing instructor you secretly hope for but never expect to get. He breaks down IV therapy and blood withdrawal with such clarity and patience that even tricky techniques suddenly feel manageable. He teaches with a calm, supportive energy that makes everyone relax. He's incredibly knowledgeable, genuinely invested in every student, and somehow keeps the class both educational and entertaining. As someone with 25+ years in healthcare, I can confidently say instructors like Steele do not grow on trees. If you're considering getting your IV Certification, go to Los Angeles Career College and hope you get Steele Erickson as your instructor. You'll walk away confident, competent, and wondering why every nursing class can't be this smooth. Highly recommended!

Life got in the way a couple of times during this portion of the class and I was able to talk to Mika and figure out a plan so that I wouldn't have to miss class. I also loved listening to her real life stories of working in nursing. The course I took was 5 weeks, 8 hours a day. The first two weeks were online. There is a lot of reading, a lot of quizzes, and several tests, but you get the hang of it quickly. The second week was practical where you learned the skills. I got pretty frustrated when I didn't get the skill right the first time, but the fact is that there are a lot of steps to the skills and these are brand new things that I'm learning. It all falls into place when you go into the clinical. You get to apply what you learned in class and in your practical learning. I especially loved my clinical rotations at the hospital. It gave me such a bigger perspective on the healthcare industry and patient care. I learned so much and discovered that I really liked working in ER. I look forward to applying everything I learned in my future career.

Mr. M was an outstanding instructor--clear, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. Everything he taught us sticks, and I still apply his lessons today. I am disgusted by their lies and awful things I have heard over the course of my studies. From dismissing hearing and mental conditions as an excuse to the administration staff telling teachers that they have to reach a certain pass rate by either failing students that deserve to go on or passing students that should have failed. I have witnessed clinical instructors teaching students while poking the patient with the same needle more than once which is a huge health violation. They prefer students not with healthcare backgrounds so they don't get called out for their lack of proper education. They promise resources and help to students that need assistance but to the students that reach out, are scolded instead for even working once or twice a week and dismiss their requests for assistance. Their remediation for failing a test is talking to students that are a class ahead of you to tutor you for an hour without bringing up the test or similar questions so all that's left for them to say is to read the book with outdated information that contradicts what we learn online or in person. They leave it up to the students to decide which source to trust which leads to constant mistakes that are never learned. I admit my flaws as a student. I have lived with hearing aids and when they were broken I got no assistance from the school. I will admit I scored 73% and 74% in med surg and pharm (passing grade is 75%). I take accountability for my own actions but my mistake was assuming the school would be responsible enough to do the same. After all their smiles and fronts they put up. Once you are admitted and you're financially tied to them, they don't care about you anymore so unless you have 100k to spare for nursing and no responsibilities as an adult to teach yourself. Avoid this school at all costs.

I believe that the instructors, staff, and administrators are very good, and that they care about the students. This is the type of school that is worth tax payer dollars, if we are going to pay for anything, it should be helping those who are underserved, and underrepresented, continue and complete their education, and get stable careers. This is the type of school that changes lives for the better, and builds better communities, helps families be more stable, and is ultimately a help to the world. I just wish they had more art and design based tech classes, graphic design, auto-cad, architecture courses etc, I would definitely take those courses, but that's a very small gripe. Anyway, thanks to the team for all that you do! Keep up the good work.
