Not only did his photos turn out great (he captured so many…read moreprecious but fleeting moments and demonstrated an amazing eye for framing, sentiment and detail), but he acted as our day-of coordinator (helped move things along, keep us on schedule, and make weather-related adaptations) and served as our resource for everything wedding related (from how to look good in pictures to putting on a boutonniere and fixing my veil!) He lived up to his assurance that he "got this" and more. He did have everything under control despite our tight schedule and chaotic venue, and it was because of him that we were able to fully enjoy our day and spend quality time with our guests. We greatly enjoyed working with him and our wedding party and videographers did too. We felt so comfortable with him! He was fun, polite, organized, calming, responsible, and flexible. His photography skills go without saying! We received our photos 10 days after the wedding and were floored by their quantity and quality. He made us look like movie stars, whether indoors, outdoors, in the sun or in the rain! One cannot ask for more in a wedding photographer. His photos exceeded our expectations: they were artful and not cheesy; natural but flattering! Everyone was blown away by our photos and wanted to know where we took them, but I wanted to tell them that it was Al that made the difference! He made the location look so fancy when it was really just a parking lot outside a library and pub! Hiring Evoke was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. I've compared extensively and having worked with them, I can say without reservation that they are hands down the best value studio you will find in Houston. I don't think their online portfolio or even their in-studio albums do them justice. Other aspects that I appreciated include their responsive staff, easy payment system, and helpful instructions and tips. Sara in particular was very patient, accommodating, and helpful throughout the process. She spent nearly an hour before our big day to discuss our wedding day timeline to make sure that it was feasible and made terrific suggestions. It is clear that everyone we worked with at Evoke are wedding experts, and even though the studio runs like a well-oiled machine, they care about each of their clients and make you feel important and cared for. They are very reasonably priced for the quality that you get, and also offer a discount for non-profits! They showed up plenty early to set-up and were so flexible/understanding when we had to make some last-minute changes to their set-up and start time. They have a huge selection of props, their assistants make it really easy for guests to enjoy the photo booth, and the photo strips come out quickly and high quality. Having the photos available online is also a huge plus. After the party, everyone raved about the photo booth. During the planning process, we were going back on forth about which vendor to use, but I'm so glad we used DMP. I would definitely use them again!

It felt tantamount to extortion. While I fully support what photographer do and understand that a lot of work goes into the final product, the outright refusal to work together -- or worse accept any type of non-cash payment -- shows that Michael Carr Photography does not care about long term customer care. We would never consider using them again in the future knowing this is the way past clients are treated. (Not to mention, the wedding photos in question put them on the COVER of The Knot at the time. They got their money's worth in referrals alone.) Choose another photographer who works in the modern age and cares about their customer's experience. Lisa and Michael do not. EDIT: Per the response it's clear that customer service is terrible, still. If they wanted to rectify it, they'd reach out.
