The store was much better laid out than my previous visit. I had no problem finding lots of local brews this time; there was at least one fridge dedicated to local craft beer. They now fill the 1L smaller growlers where they used to only fill the 2L not saying I am a lightweight but 2L is kind of a lot of beer to drink on a "school" night when you ain't sharing. Staff was pretty helpful this time around too. Had a good convo about local IPAs with the guy who filled my growler and he offered to checked their upcoming keg stock for me when he found out I was a fan of a particular brewery. He didn't like one of my favorite IPAs but I won't hold that against him. RockHead is much easier for me to get to than Bishop's Cellar. Look forward to becoming a repeat customer.

This NSLC is, dare I say, sweet!? There aren't a ton of offerings, but there are cold beer fridges, including individual can purchases. As well, they have some upscale wine selections complete with heaping price tags. The place is fairly small; with just a couple of aisles within a small square shaped space, it's a perfect addition to the Alderney Landing Centre. It would be nice if their individual beer choices were in bottles instead of in cans, but oh well. A Rickard's White was purchased and enjoyed in the sunshine, thanks to this great NSLC.

For those using the ferry to cross the harbour, they can grab something to go before/after their ride. Whether or not you're a connoisseur you can use these to determine which ones you might be interested in trying. That's as opposed to picking the bottle with the prettiest design/colour combo. (hey, that's what I fall back on) Good local and imported cold beer options too! The absolute selling point of Bishop's Cellar has to be the hours they keep. A beer/wine store that's open until midnight on Friday's and Saturday's as well as holidays has been a saving grace for me on more than one occasion!

We started with the flash-fried calamari, a great opener served with their sun-dried tomato pesto aioli. But little did I know the standout lobster dish of the trip was hiding in the appetizer section. Their lobster and corn chowder was incredible. Seriously, so, so good. Potatoes, Vidalia onions, and double-smoked bacon added great contrast to the sweet lobster. And you know it's good when you can see that beautiful red lobster oil floating on top. It really showed that they used the lobster shells and all those flavour-packed bits to build the stock. Absolutely delicious. Next came the spaghettini ai frutti di mare, loaded with huge jumbo shrimp, fresh scallops, and mussels in a sun-dried tomato pesto. The seafood was fresh and plentiful. The linguini all'aragosta did not disappoint either. San Marzano tomatoes, cream, and Parmigiano made for a rich and decadent sauce that worked beautifully with the lobster. We also had the crab ravioli, followed by yet another lobster dish, the lobster Thermidor. This was seriously indulgent, with wild mushrooms, Gruyère, and house-made black truffle spaghettini. Rich, savoury, and packed with flavour. After all that decadence, we needed something bright to finish. The crostata al bergamotto was perfect, with a vibrant bergamot citrus curd that cut through the richness and refreshed the palate. Great seafood, incredible pasta, creative flavours, and excellent execution. We definitely saved one of the best for last.

And to my surprise, today I found out they have free cardboard boxes at the front of the store near the window. I was so happy! I have been in so many stores in BL looking for cardboard boxes to mail parcels in, and the other stores mainly tell me, no sorry, we crush them down right away. Here at the BL NSLC, I could take my pick from about 30 boxes, the size that can hold 12 wine bottles. Thanks! I enjoy your store!
