Well, as we have been to Halifax in the past, my wife allowed me/us to have a brewery day. :) Lucky me. Keep following! Quality/Quantity - Thanks for updating your hours on Yelp. We got here at 3pm (posted Yelp & Google hours) and your friendly team said you open at 4pm... My wife and I did not want to just hang out for an hour, in the middle of nowhere and without beer.... Not sure if I was smart enough to check your website for business hours?!?! Heard good things about your beer, so we went out of our way to come. We walked about a mile! Small tap menu, small food menu. I am assuming keeping it simple = amazing quality?!?! Ambiance - Beautiful location. Nice indoor and outdoor space. Open 7 days a week; see their website for specific hours. There is an upstairs "speakeasy." Service - N/A. Well the employee was nice and told us they were not open until 4pm. What a cool spot for fresh beer, good bites, "hip" music and good people. The beers were delicious and the staff was great. The setup is so cool, great theme that weaves the whole experience together. Inside has a bit of a diner feel with counter seats and booths. Outside there are picnic tables and benches. Reminds me a bit of Kilowatt Brew in San Diego. They had a real solid selection of beers, though not so many on the malty side. All were approachable and well balanced. The merchandise store was great as well. The beer has placements at a few tp houses in the area which was a very welcome sight. I totally recommend this spot for beers, cribbage and some great tunes with awesomes service all around. read more

At first, it was my girlfriends favourite spot, to drink, and to eat. I've always passed by it but I've never went in until she brought me there. First. The aura of the place. It's very hip, modern, yet still genuinely nice n cozy. I adore sitting inside this place. Next - the food. Oh man, is it amazing, if you like your food rich and filling. Besides great beer - the fact they are open on holidays is nothing but the most exciting thing ever. I stumbled in to find a quick Easter beer for my partner and they were nothing but helpful. I was greeted with a smile and a good morning. I have them an idea of what his favourite beers were and they were able to give me an idea of what was the best choices and what thy would recommend. I find it absolutely lovely when they are able to recommend items. They also went over a few other ones with me - because I know nothing about beer - and I was able to leave with confidence about what I had bought. On Tap: my personal fav beer is their Mexican style lager with jalapeño & lime zest aptly named El Espinazo Del Diablo which pairs ohh so nicely with their robust menu ranging from buffalo cauliflower with blue cheese & rice crisps to a delightful salad to pork butt sandwiches via in-house kitchen Rumblefish Food Co. Overall, there's an emphasis on quality ingredients, healthy offerings, vegetarian/vegan options. Solid brunch menu too. The indoor/outdoor space is instagram worthy so get those snaps ready. I love Good Robot and ThemBot Sour is one of my favourite beers. It's a fun place to hang out, with a chill vibe and great people. The staff are friendly and they run a variety of cool, community-oriented events. Good Robot Brewing is a must stop in Halifax if you want to take in their beer scene. They feature a full food menu of very tasty food - we sampled their fish tacos, haloumi wrap, duck spring rolls, and Asiago fries, and enjoyed them all. More importantly they have a very creative and thoughtful beer. Their Pink Flamingo Radler is one of the best watermelon beers I have tasted, don't miss it on a hot summer day. Their Viking pineapple beer is also good in the same vein - subtle flavor, very drinkable. For the Twin Peaks lovers in the house they feature a a coffee and cherry pie ale brewed with a local coffee roaster - that beer you like is coming back into style! The branding and marketing is all very creative - each beer has some of the most distinctive individual branding I have ever seen - a lot of them riff of of pop culture, but in a great way. The outdoor space is super cool. At night they regularly screen films. If I lived in Halifax I would be a regular - these folks know what they are doing! The people I talked with were all super nice and helpful. Bottom line this is a great spot, try it out for a fun dinner and a great beer! read more

The food, the beer the people--everything rules. The food: the tuna salad is flavorful and clean; and it's perfect if you can steal some chips from the person next to you. Yeah those nachos. Yum. The Korean sauce is deciduous trouble. Good veggie versions too. The beers varied between solid and pretty darn great. The Tom Waits stout was very flavorful, and their experiment with some kombucha was truly interesting. There was this great light beer (I don't usually like them) which would crush with some spicy Mexican food. Also the people were super nice. Many places try to hard or don't care if you stay or go. These people had their customer service game DOWN. I'd come again in a heartbeat. read more

Just had my first visit to Good Robot this week and I can't believe it's taken me this long to get there! I hadn't heard too much about the place but they always have fun events going on and it seems to be quite busy so something good must be happening there, right? Correctamundo! Great beers on tap, and not just GR ones either. And really neat menu of snacky things. Salvatore's pizza at peak times, yummy things from their neighbor Mary's, and other good things I can't remember. I do remember that I wanted many of the food offerings though... I went to Good Robot last Monday for their weekly (I think?) Goodwill Bot event where they donate $1 from each drink sold to a local community group. This week's group was FOUND Forgotten Food (full disclosure: I volunteer/intern for them!) so I went and enjoyed a bevvy and some great ambience. I hadn't been to Good Robot yet - I'm not a huge pub person in general and I often turn into a pumpkin once it gets dark outside. ;) So it was a bit of a miracle that I made it out, to be honest! I'm so glad I did, though. The amazing scent of hops and brewing wafted down the street as my friends and I walked from our parking spot and it made me real excited like to get inside. Love the inside - it's a multi-floor set up with a super cool bar area (the menu is posted on copper piping!) and robot motifs everywhere. Everything about this brewery screams fun and light hearted and I can definitely say I'm in love. I don't drink beer, so unfortunately I couldn't sample any of Good Robot's actual wares, but I did have a Shipwreck cider, which was delish! They were also serving up Rinaldo's sandwiches that night, though I was stuffed from dinner so didn't sample any of that. My friends told me that the tofu sammich was divine. read more

Good selection of beers. The server made a really insulting face when my wife asked if they happened to also serve liquor. Novel question to ask, at a bar. Our drinks were left empty most of the time. Again, at a bar. Food is overpriced, pretty bland. The tuna tartare was decent. I don't really understand the concept of their nachos, but they were terrible and just...weird. Not a good weird. I get that millenials like novel, artisan everything, but it takes work to fuck up nachos. Maybe the right place to go if you're looking to have one beer and go somewhere else. The crowd here is as boring as you would expect at a hipster brewery in a trending neighbourhood. read more

I really like this place. There's something about their whole concept that is deliciously silly and I think it's so necessary. Imagine if you will- it's midday on a Saturday: a whole Spice Girls album is playing; there are small robot toys sitting on the bar; my flight is served in a muffin tin; the server is charming and cracking dirty jokes; the beers are creative and consistently well-balanced in taste and body; and I'm sitting in some strange bench nook playing it cool. There's not many places where I feel at home, even when out by myself. Good Robot is my absolute home away from home. Causal enough to stop by after work with a book but also full of enough action that you could easily come here for a party night. They have a strong sense of community among the patrons and the friendliest staff in town. It won't take long for them to remember your name and make you feel like family every time you stop in for a beer. The events they host are some of the most unique I've ever been too. Staff are super welcoming and nice, the beers are all top notch, though I've only tried the stout and APA (the APA is honestly one of my favourite beers now - citrusy and the hops aren't overpowering), I'll be back to try more. I realize the last thing a manly beer brew place wants to be is cute. But Good Robot is so cute! The Robot logo might as well have little heart stink lines coming off of it, it's that dang cute. Set back off Robie St. tucked between two buildings is where you'll find the business, and by business I mean the nuts and bolts of the operations. The biz-ness. My personal favourite brew is the Goseface Killah, which you can get on tap at all the cool places around town, you know where I'm talking about. It's so popular they were all out that weekend so I opted for a grunter of Burban Legend, citrus American pale ale. It was also top-shelf. They were so friendly and let us sample all the different beer they brew there before I made my decision, of course super knowledgeable and passionate about their beer. The guys at Good Robot are one of a trio of North End craft breweries. Where North Brewery has the whole zero-carbon thing going, Unfiltered has the whole beer-grognard thing going these guys are we just wanna have fun brewery. I mean they have a beer called "Goseface Killah", and one of their suggested beer pairings with their APA is "losing 3/4 games and banding your softball team together in the finals and clinching third place"; I'm paraphrasing but you get the idea.The storefront is an industrial garage door. Staff are laid back and knowledgeable about their product. I love, love that they offer samples and wish the other micro brews would do the same. I always like to try before I buy. However, one of the biggest things that IMPRESSES ME is that THEY DON'T KNOCK OTHER LOCAL BREWERIES. I've been in the store several times when staff have directed new customers to the other local breweries and recommended their products. It's nice to see. I love the local support- it would be too easy to bash the other guys as competition. It says good things about the future of the NS Craft Brew as an industry. Now on to their beer; the guys are all over the map when it comes to style of beer they brew. While the other breweries are following the American West coast brewing scene with hops-heavy IPAs Good Robot is trying brews like a German Gose which is a fantastic Summer brew and a Kentucky corn beer. Their Tom Waits Imperial stout is great in the cooler weather and the last few batches I've tried are an improvement from even a few months ago. I would like to cellar a batch but I can't hold off drinking it. I haven't been to their taproom but with offerings from GR and other local micro brews I look forward to trying it. read more

Had a fantastic time there last night during a comic book event. In a city riddled with incredibly bad service, I didnt find that here. Super impressed with our server, he was beyond knowledgeable and obviously well trained. Sorry I dont recall his name, but he was a bearded fellow, although who doesnt have a beard at a microbrew place? Lol. He truly seemed to be proud of the product he was selling. Now to the beer! Im not a big microbrew guy , but I am now thanks to our server and this establisment. Inhad two different beees, both were exceptional. I cant wait to try the food when I go back. I absolutely LOVE Good Robot!! This little gem in North End Halifax is just the friendly fix you need for anything. Their collaborate beers are amazing and my all time favourite brew is Tom Waits for No One (a Robot original). With so many community driven events (Silent Reading, Good Bot) it's really hard not to love these guys. Not to mention their staff are just...beyond amazing. Tonight was really busy in a good way - I guess the North End Running club meets there after their runs. --- Aspiring Brewers can brew there to serve to your friends and to the public - that's super cool. --- Drinks: I've almost tried every drink on the menu. I've liked them all so far. This includes the ginger beer and root beer. --- Food: I tried the food here for the first time tonight - they were serving Black Sheep food and it was awesome!!! Fried chicken is not what you expect- yum! And the Andouille burger - was amazing!!! So excited they have the pub space open now - a great comfy cozy spot to come with friends and try the delightful brews on tap. The enthusiasm of the owners is endearing, and I love the funky decor inside, including the awesome booth-style double-seaters at the bar - perfect for chit chat time with your friend or date. Just visiting from Seattle and was steered to HFXs north end to check out craft brewing. Not disappointed. The Gose was spot on, with nice herbal and floral notes, and the stout was nice and malty with great hop rounding. Not a fan of corn in beer, so the Kentucky Common was 'meh'. I suppose if you want a craft version of mass-produced beer...but why? The APA had a familiar hop flavor and mouthfeel to the IPAs out west. Nicely done. Super nice help on Saturday AM, too. I'd come back for more of the Gose and stout. read more

Was really happy the first few times I've been! The atmosphere and the fact the balcony was dog friendly were key points for me!! The beer was just okay but after a few I don't mind! Very disappointed in the way some of the employees carry themselves online. I see they felt bullied by an individual but when there news feeds were constantly about this issue seemed rather childish. It makes me think you have Children running your establishment. I've been on Instagram and see other staff members being bullies! Stopped here for the first time on Saturday because something about the combination of vitamin d and booze always seems like a good idea. Was excited to see what this new local business had to offer but unfortunately was not overly impressed with the service. The menu is split oddly with nothing stated about the snacks offered and the menu inside was the only one that mentioned that they also serve wine. The service was terrible with the waitress actually forgetting one of our orders (not sure if this was intentional or part of the hipster attitude of trying to hard to not look like you are actually trying). I will give them points for making good beer and having a neat atmosphere, perhaps the key is to drink enough that you no longer notice the bad customer service . We were only in Halifax for three days and visited Good Robot twice in that time - it was too good not to! Not only do they have an impressive line up of unique and tasty beers, but their staff goes above and beyond to make sure you get what you want and enjoy your time. The outdoor space is also amazing: spacious, comfortable, trendy, you name it! Corn hole and the many dogs also visiting the brewery make this place practically perfect. My favourite bar in Halifax for a casual drink. This was sorely needed in the North End. Gus's - Too raw, and video gamblers are a buzzkill (but go have a burger before you get to Good Robot if you're hungry. They only serve light fare at GR) Brasserie - Too fancy pants Lion and Bright - Best suited to students, young professionals, and anyone with a macbook pro they feel the need to display in public Good Robot - Perfect vibe for meeting up with folks. Good music, but no so loud that it overwhelms the night. Great beer on tap selection, good patio in summer, pretty good layout inside with some extra seating upstairs. No pretension in there at all most of the time. The staff are nice, although when it gets busy I've had some bad/non service and a hard time paying my bill. That cost them a star. They need to get a better system in place for servers and payments. They also have no public wifi, so popping in for a beer on the way home from work and catching up on a few things on your laptop isn't an option. Maybe that's for the best in some ways. It's got a good vibe, a snack if you need it, and you can show up a little dressed up or looking ragged after softball and still feel at home. read more
