I personally think Bishop's Cellar would benefit from having a bit more of a description system. Perhaps a little placard with some details: eg: dry, full, organic. These are also excellent for stipulating how wines have placed in wine shows. eg: 91 pts. Whether or not you're a connoisseur you can use these to determine which ones you might be interested in trying. That's as opposed to picking the bottle with the prettiest design/colour combo. (hey, that's what I fall back on) Good local and imported cold beer options too! The absolute selling point of Bishop's Cellar has to be the hours they keep. A beer/wine store that's open until midnight on Friday's and Saturday's as well as holidays has been a saving grace for me on more than one occasion!

I am not a fan of the way you have to move from the Sobeys to the NSLC once you have done your shopping. If you have more than a couple of bags of groceries from Sobeys then you can't go into the NSLC without ditching your cart, which often means having to leave, stash your groceries in the car (good luck if you don't have one) and then go back to the NSLC. Kind of a hassle I think. On the other hand they have quite a good selection here.....comparable to some of the bigger NSLC stores in the HRM. Be sure to catch their wine events where they feature a particular wine from a particular region. The store associates are friendly, and if a certain item isn't stocked in that particular store in Sackville, they will call around, or use the computer to find other locations that do carry what you want.

I guess that's why I was asked no less then 4 times by 4 different staff if I needed any help. When I said I was looking for NS sparkling wines, I was directed to the NS wine section, not there. So I thought I'd try the bubbly section, which I could not find but found a display of "Holiday Sparklers", not there. Another couple of display and finally success, not sure what the theme of the display was but found a couple of NS sparkling wines, though not what I was looking for so I just gave up. So I head to the cash with the five bottles I did find that I wanted. The cashier, one of those who finds everything to be "perfect", rings in my purchases. I mention the bottom line seems very light for what I bought. She looks at the receipt and says "no, that's right" so I pay and when I'm finally allowed to look at my receipt I discover she's only charged me for 4 out of the five bottles. I bring it to her attention and the apologies and excuses of being new are repeated "perfectly" while I pay for the 5th bottle and make my escape.

The fruit and vegetable section is fairly large and selection is usually pretty good. Bakery and bread goods host far too many delicious temptations. Checkouts usually move quite quickly. The store is, for the most part, laid out in the order I expect. Some important tips: * It's always busy at this Superstore. Al. Ways. I don't know why but it is. * It's a grocery store. If you're looking for a wide variety of Joe Clothing or other stuff, head over to the gi-normous Portland Street location. * It's parking lot is always full. You should expect that you're not going to get a spot right next to the door. * It's got a wine shop but that's it in terms of liquor. * If you're taking transit, there's only one bus: the #62 which has an unusual schedule. Make sure you know it before you head over.

These things are annoying but what happened today was quite upsetting. The product I was purchasing was on sale, but the deal was you had to buy 2 to get the sale price. As it happened there was only 1 left. I would gladly have bought the 2 items to get the sale price but they didn't have 2. Is that really my fault? Should I have to pay the price for their inability to keep the shelves stocked. It may seem like a small thing to some but in these times of rampant inflation every penny of savings counts.

When you walk into the store, the first thing you notice is all the British imported food and snack items.. Reminds me a lot of my childhood and I usually buy something for nostalgia sake. Right beyond that is beverage display case with all sorts of drinks you'd rarely see elsewhere. I especially enjoy their local and import ginger beer selection, as well as Ribena. Beyond that the store is a mixture of exotic cheeses, excellent produce, a deli, health food aisles and the British butchery. This butchery is especially known for its Nova Scotia lamb, which is the best I've bought anywhere around here. The beef steaks are a close second. Needless to say, due to the nature of the products sold here, the prices are exorbitant.. I keep Pete's as a treat to go buy a few luxury food items if I haven't entirely blown my food budget for the month. If my budget hasn't been blown yet, it's sure to be so once I'm done at the Frootique. While many of the items are quite unique, there are many food items that are..items which can be purchased at your regular grocery store for half the price (ie. many of the dairy products). I also think the space the store occupies is much too small... you constantly feel like you're in a traffic jam trying to navigate the narrowly jam packed aisles, and always a hair breadth away from knocking things over.. the store is so cramped, I picture knocking something over as having a domino effect.. dropped a bag of chips?...there goes the whole aisle. The check out staff are fast, friendly and on the ball with keeping registers open. I don't necessarily see this as good customer service, though... since the store is so cramped, if long lines were to form then customers in line to pay would take up half the retail space (I've seen this happen here more than once). I definitely recommend this place, though, even if just to window shop. You might discover something new on every visit.

They used to hang by the petrol station but moved when they moved the bus stop. Parasites and harassers. I'm a small woman that has to catch that bus to Bedford and they are always begging for things and eyeballing me. And they pee right there in the lot. What ever happened to law and order and basic civics in Canada? Also, the people in produce have filthy nails with old caked on dirt or something under their nails constantly. Whatever happened to cleanliness? The managers do nothing about this? But then, it's r acist to notice these things now. Tell them to wash their hands more than once a week. Disgusting.

I've never had to wait in any big lines and the staff there are always friendly and helpful. The liquor is always well stocked and I've always been able to find what I'm looking for when I go. I hope that they don't change it to make it look more like the newer NSLCs but suspect that it's just a matter of time.
