So, the question must be asked, do you know where your food comes from?
Magarey's Orchard has been operating since1909 and remains a family run orchard, growing pears, Nashis and plums in the suburb of Coromandel Valley. The orchard sells their fruit to many grocers and supermarkets across SA and their stockists can be found on the website.
The special thing about the orchard is that you can buy direct from the growers Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 9:00am- 12:30pm and 2:00pm-4:30pm and buy fruit for a lot less than you would from the grocer. Most of the fruit available are seconds (ie: the fruit that isn't quite pretty enough for the Fruit and Veg shop) but always taste amazing, especially when making preserved pears, but in the height of pear season you can get some of the top notch stuff.
Magarey's Orchard sprawls over the hills and is always nice for a visit, the orchard often hosts open days in conjunction with the national trust and its worth the trip. read more
