Best ACLS Class Ever! Mike conducted the class in a stress free, friendly, and casual environment. It started off with a field trip to get coffee next door at Nutmeg to start the morning off right...and he paid! What?! He was hilarious and witty! My favorite!! Definitely the perfect class for an experienced healthcare professional who just needs to certify. For newbies, or to get the most out of the class, my recommendation is to be able to recognize the basic rhythms as well as the algorithms/drugs for the various scenarios (tachycardia, bradycardia, VF/pVT, etc. The rest is easy breezy! The book chapters are excellent, easy to follow, and reinforce the concepts well. You can easily add BLS recert onto the class too without lengthening the class. They just incorporate the learning seamlessly into the ACLS curriculum and you simply take one more test at the end. If you need more practice or want to be drilled then you will need to speak up or take the class somewhere else. I know he would oblige. This is definitely the kinder, gentler version we always dreamed of!! No sweat!!! Based on this class I would not hesitate to take other courses offered. read more

This is an excellent organization the office staff was helpful in meeting my time requirements and being able to take BLS, ACLS and PALS in the same day. my BLS and PALS instructor Aimee, as an ER nurse made the class interesting and relevant. She inspired you to think about what caused the different scenarios and how the actions impacted the pathology. Mike, My ACLS instructor, an RT, surprised me about the depth of knowledge on the topic. He brought an alternative non-nursing view, which was helpful. He also helped us to prepare for the test by remembering to take into consideration the role of the person the questioning was in, e.g., EMS instead of a nurse or physician. Both instructors were high energy, knowledgeable and presented the material in a manner where we were prepared for the test. I will be using them again when it's time to renew. read more

Took PALS with Mike and he was really interesting. He engaged us and he kept me awake by his demeanor, sense of humor and life experiences. And boy does he have s long list of titles! The only thing I would change about the classroom are the table arrangements. It was annoying to sit sideways to face the board and front of the class. I would also like to ask that Mike give clear breaks. Yes we're all adults and we can get up when nature calls anytime we want but it would help to know when a good pause would be instead of him just walking out, lol. Anyways I would recommend this facility to anyone and I look forward to taking a class from NEO next time read more

Great place to learn . Everyone is very professional. I have been going here for years to renew my BLS & ACLS . When you signup for a class they give you a study guide , which I find very helpful . I was just there to renew my BLS , Lisa was excellent teacher/evaluator . For BLS you do the studying & multiple choice test online before you go. If you need to use a computer they offer you free to use one of there computers. Then once you go to there they just evaluate your skills, adult and infant CPR and AED . They also offer deals/discounts if you sign up for two classes. read more

PALS 2015 Edition - Different kind of curriculum and test, but same great training! Boriana and Helen were great as usual. Boriana is extremely knowledgeable and knows the curriculum inside and out. Helen has a ton of real world experience and is entertaining. They do an excellent job going over the basics and emphasizing the tricky concepts. The study guide is still very good with references to the textbook. The AHA video vignettes of real life kids with their bedside monitors are very useful if you don't see kids routinely. The new curriculum emphasizes respiratory distress & failure and circulatory shock and no longer emphasizes the "mega codes" and resuscitation algorithms (which makes sense as kids code a lot less often compared to adults) like ACLS still does. If I have one piece of advice it is this: KNOW YOUR PEDIATRIC VITAL SIGNS!!! (or how to look them up). Knowing what is normal and abnormal at each age goes a long way in this class. The AHA test is now open book. I was a bit apprehensive, since with the old curriculum, all I had to do was memorize the PALS flash card folding booklet, but I actually like the new curriculum, as there is less memorization and more common sense in evaluating each kid (e.g. sick or not sick and recognizing/treating respiratory distress and shock). The pretest is straightforward and I suggest not stressing about it - Just take it and you will likely be done in less than an hour with at least 70%. You can retake it as many times a you like. (NEO has a free prep class for this test that I took for ACLS, but this was a bit overkill as I didn't have too many problems with the pretest questions; but if you aren't comfortable with ECGs or don't do much clinical patient care, it might be helpful). You also have to show that you bought the book (I got mine on Amazon but it was expensive). And bring your old card but if you have been to NEO before, that is optional as they have your information. Thank you again, NEO, for a great learning experience. It was a long class at almost 5 hours (usually it is 3-4 hours), but it was worth it, compared to other classes that seek to intimidate you and will fail people once in a while to set an example. Very supportive atmosphere and fair!! Still the best AHA certification place by a mile!! read more
