We also had Ms. Cynthia for two days during clinicals, and she was fantastic--her experience and teaching style helped solidify what we'd been learning and provided us with some tips! Both Mr. V and Ms. Cynthia have decades of experience as RNs, and it really shows in how they teach and support students. The classrooms are comfortable, and the skills labs are well equipped, which made hands-on practice easy and effective. The class wasn't very structured or thorough. It just seemed very rushed and hasty and a little…read moresloppy. At one point, I tried to ask her a question about whether the breathing part actually delivers enough oxygen, but her answer was for a different question. I felt like she didn't take the time to listen to what I was asking. The CPR training was reasonable, but the First-Aid part was barely addressed. I recently completed a NOLS/WMS Wilderness First-Aid course through REI, and I felt like I learned so much there. And while being in the wilderness may be a significant difference in circumstances, the injuries are not. Blisters, heat-exhaustion, impalements, etc. can all happen anywhere, especially with children. But in the end they were quick to respond to my email, and I got my certification in less than 2 hours, on a holiday weekend no less, so I guess I should be happy with that. I'm just not someone who's looking for an 'easy A'. It's kind of sad, because many of the students that come here are working for schools or the YMCA, and they're supposedly the ones trained to handle your children in emergency situations.

They are very rude. The teachers are great but the staff is horrible. Cecilia is the only administrator and has horrible communication. I have my certificate but 6 other students in my class are still waiting for responses. They made a student retake her clinicals because she forgot to turn in a physical. The school should be reported to the state for allowing students to take clinicals without proper documentation..a few students were also in high school and had to miss days for that and the school is making them wait 6 weeks to redo 1 or 2 days. It's actually surprising they are even open. On top of that I dare you to call them. The response rate is 1-2 weeks. I'm in the middle of reporting them to state and the BBB because I genuinely feel sick for the other students who are the mercy of the school since they don't give refunds. And if you think you can complain to TUBA the owner, WRONG. She's worse. She calls the students back and is so rude to them, how dare they waste her time. Anyways pay the extra money to go to another school like Eastlake medical college. Eastlake gives you your certificate and schedule your exams within 2 weeks of graduation. San Diego medical college makes you wait 3 weeks for the certificate and then you have to sign up for exams which can take 2 weeks. Dont confuse the Eastlake branch of San Diego medical college with Eastlake medical college. They are two different school.

They didn't try to sell a bunch of extra materials like other places do... but they DO still offer and have them available! Both times I went to the Mission Valley location, because it was the most convenient for me. They're the most reasonable place to get your certifications, and you can pay from their website by PayPal.

At the same time, there is tremendous fun had on the daily at this school. Julian greets me at pick up with a big smile and a hug, his cheeks flushed from play and sand in his shoes. He excitedly shows me his projects and tells me funny stories and things he learned from the day. FDL is exceptional. If you have the chance to send your child there, take it. Several daycares/preschools in the region claim to be Spanish immersion but aren't actually (e.g., they speak English to the kiddos). At Lulus, I feel like we get a truly authentic Spanish immersion program for our son, knowing instruction is exclusively in Spanish. And it shows. My son 100% understands Spanish when it is spoken to him and he mixes Spanish and English in his vocabulary regularly. This is coming to an end for Aria at ABCD as she will start kindergarten soon. It is such a bittersweet moment. But at least I know I will bring my second daughter to her soon.
