At first was confused as to why I wasn't booked with an earlier date; but the more I thought about it, it made me think Nut Tree Optometry might be doing something right. The staff was very friendly; and Dr. Bennett was very helpful with my eye exam. There are some other places that will give you the runaround, but this isn't one of those places. I've been coming to Nut Tree Optometry for over 5 years. I like them so much I still go to them after moving a couple towns over. It's true that they can be booked pretty far out. Like 1-2 months. Scheduling is pretty easy. I appreciate they send out a text reminder and give a phone call a day or two before the appointment. Good selection of frames. They got some luxury brands behind lock boxes like Gucci, Prada, etc. They also have safety glasses. I've never felt like Dr. K was upselling to me. He works with me and suggests how to best use my VSP insurance coverage while meeting my needs. A really important pro to me is they are keeping abreast in advances in technology. What do I mean? That test that involves eye dilation can be replaced by a new machine that takes an image. No more being semi-blinded for hours afterwards. The image is saved and the doctor can see even more of your eye. That test where a puff of air goes into your eye? He got a new instrument for that too! It's so gentle. It feels like something tickling your eyelash instead of recoiling from air puffing right into your eyes. It's more accurate too! I've always found the service to be very good and friendly. Dr. K gave me the rest of the trial pack (4 pairs contacts) after the fitting. The people up at the front have always been friendly and helpful in picking out frames and making adjustments. It's also very convenient they are open on Saturdays! I found the prices to be reasonable as well. (Compared quotes with an optometrist in Vallejo for prescription safety glasses. Nut Tree Optometry was about half the price for various aspects like anti-glare, single focus, polycarbonate material.) Please don't come here because the appointment wait time is long enough already and I don't need more "competition". All kidding aside, they're truly wonderful and I highly recommend them. read more

I switched to Nut Tree after realizing they take VSP. The office staff is friendly, the office is conveniently located, clean, and has nicely upgraded machines. They can usually fit me in within a good time period despite usually being booked at least a month out (ask to get on the cancellation list). They have a decent variety of frames to look at as well. This place is great. I've been coming here for 2 years now and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Dr. k is very nice and really takes his time explaining everything in detail which is awesome! He provides many tips to keeping your eyes healthy. The staff is always super friendly when I call or come in. They really try their hardest to get you an appointment on the day and time you prefer. One time I had what size would call an "eye emergency" and they were able to squeeze me in the same day! Plus side is they are open Saturdays. They have a variety of frames to choose from. I am rating Nut Tree Optical on its availability of appointment's and the process in making an appointment because I never actually made it in for an appointment. First of all, when I called to book an appointment they misspelled my name and had an impossible time finding my benefits until they put a second person on the line and she actually asked for the spelling of my name and she found my benefit information right away. Secondly, it was a two month wait for an appointment. I had to reschedule my appointment about a week or two out and again it was now an additional seven week wait for an appointment. I was really disappointed and shocked by how long the wait was to get in. I ended up going somewhere else and had everything done within two weeks. read more

The experience of shopping for glasses here was refreshing. I already had my prescription but had been feeling anxious about shopping for a new pair. I tried another place in town first, but Nut Tree Optometry was a massively better experience. A big part of the difference between the two places was the level of customer service. I was pleasantly greeted by Adrianna shortly after entering the store. I asked about glasses for large heads, and she directed me to spots that had some good options. The pacing was great -- I wasn't pressured at all and was provided options, information, and assistance as desired. I browsed for a bit and selected a few options. Adrianna ran my insurance and was great at answering all questions I had about things like lens types and coatings. I had mentioned disliking the style of the ear pieces on the pair that I had decided to go with, and she was very considerate and looked up if they came with different options or styles that I might like more. I feel like they seem to upsell a lot. I came in for contacts and end-up with glasses that I didn't need. They told me certain features for the glasses are refundable if I didn't like it but it wasn't because they already charged my insurance. I came multiple times to get my glasses adjusted and it's still hurts when I wear it. Seems like most of the people who works there are part-time college students, who are not very knowledgeable about adjusting glasses. read more

I just moved to the area and was due for a visit before benefits expired. I didn't get the name of the receptionist but they were very accommodating given the circumstances of Covid-19. When I went in they were really good about sanitizing and were warm and inviting. I even got through the puff of air in your eye on the first tries. I'm usually a spazz about that. Dr. Kabir is amazing. No rushing and thorough with questions that I had. I was in for a regular Rx, contacts, and was curious about lasik even though my rx wasn't stable yet. He sent me home with 4 pairs of lens to try and a second set for my left eye that had a slight astigmatism. The staff was great with pointing out selections and also quoting me on the different lens coatings. They're also taking extra precautions with sanitizing frames that have been worn. I can't express enough how well run this place is. I'm happy I came across them!!! read more

Even though she was juggling the phones, mopping up a major water spill or leak, checking people in, and dealing with walk-ins she was very friendly, and apologetic. Four stars for her alone! Cons: The frame selection was not as large as mentioned on earlier reviews. They don't have a lot of modern, sporty frames for women. The front desk could use some help, especially when its busy. I have to say that since I have lived here I have been to plenty of businesses that in my humble opinion do not live up to their "5" star Yelp ratings. But thankfully to my surprise, this place DOES! I decided to come here after researching Yelp reviews and trying to find a location where I could use my insurance. After looking at their reviews and the short distance from my home, I decided to make an appointment. I have been very busy with school and did not have time to talk on the phone, and I was able to correspond with them via email for an appointment. When I arrived at the location, I was warmly greeted by the front desk receptionist. It only took about five minutes until I was seen by Dr. Kabir, who is a wonderful person! He helped fit me for new contacts and let me know that they might feel slightly different than my current ones. I tried them for a week and loved them and my insurance paid for more than half the price of the contacts. Oh, and when I ordered them on Thursday they came in on Friday--I will probably pick them up on Monday though just because I am out of town til then. But once again, amazing people at this place and excellent products and customer service! read more
