When I started, Rafi sent me a nutrition plan that was customized to my specific needs. The next part is on me - pick foods within my macro plan and eat them consistently. Rafi checks in with me weekly to give me feedback on my food diary. The regular accountability has helped tremendously. Another thing that I love is that I'm eating real food and I'm not skimping on calories. This program isn't set up to starve/deprive you and if you follow it, you will see results. I've been telling all of my friends about this program and needless to say, I highly recommend this place to anyone reading this review. I knew, going into it, that I would not be…read morehappy with the results because of how I had been neglecting my health and fitness, but hey.. you've gotta start somewhere. Rafi was encouraging (even though my current state was pretty unhealthy) and gave me the tools that I needed to start my health and fitness journey. After two months I went back for a follow-up scan. I was a little nervous because I didn't think I would see much progress but much to my surprise I had dropped fat and gained muscle. Once again, Rafi was encouraging and told me to keep up the good work. In another four months I went back in for a follow-up scan and was happy and encouraged to find that I've lost a total of almost 13 pounds of fat and have gained 4.5 pounds of muscle. Rafi provided me with the knowledge I needed to work towards the results I wanted and seeing those results on paper is a huge motivator for me. I'm feeling healthier, happier, more fit, and I am looking forward to seeing the results of my next scan. Thanks Rafi!

What I appreciated the most was her accessibility. She would review menus of restaurants I was eating at or provide me with customized recommendations. When I was frustrated with results or what the scale said, she was non-judgmental and offered helpful advice for how to overcome cravings or emotional reactions. In fact, I was surprised (in a good way) by how much of the program was centered around mindfulness and balance. Even though the program only includes 4 sessions, I felt like I was in constant communication with Lindsay and she genuinely cared about my progress. She frequently sent email updates and checked in, and when I had questions, she was never more than a text away. I am excited to see continued progress. I would recommend Lindsay to anyone!

Prior to working with Inez, I had never worked with a trainer, coach or nutritionist. But after a year primarily in quarantine, I just wasn't feel great after such a long period of a mostly sedentary lifestyle and months spent in sweatpants. So after reading all of the reviews and doing my research, I stepped out of my comfort zone and reached out. Inez was quick to respond to my inquiry and provided detailed information about services offered and price points. I was a little hesitant at first not really knowing what pricing norms were in this world, but ultimately knew that I would be paying for a high quality experience from an individual with a wealth of knowledge and motivation style that I connected well with. So I signed up for a 12 week gold package and committed to a customized fitness and nutrition plan based on the goals that I identified for myself and in tandem with our first assessment. To be honest, I was terrified. Raising your hand and asking for help requires a certain level of vulnerability. But so does being weighed, measured and posing for progress pics in an old bathing suit when you're already not feeling at your best. (Seriously, the terror!) But Inez has a way of making you feel as comfortable as possible in these moments. I'm a very sensitive person, so I was worried that there would be certain descriptors or language used during my assessment that could be triggering but there was none of that. She's as professional as they come, has worked with all kinds of bodies and approaches it all as a science. She's free of judgement and is just going about her work so that she can devise a plan that works best with all the data points available. Over those three months, I would have weekly check-ins via phone. Although they were quick, they worked perfectly because all I needed was 15 mins. But it was nice to know that if I had any questions or was feeling frustrated during a week when I didn't see the scale move, Inez always had encouraging words. And these are not empty words. She not there to tell you you're doing great when you're not. But if she knows you're putting your best foot forward, she'll be there to get you to your next progress point. She's truly invested and wants her clients to be their best, so she gives her very best. But as a client, you've got to do the work and follow the plan. I also had to fill out a weekly update sheet with my own weekly weigh-ins and reflection points. Inez told me that if I followed the plan to 90% compliance, that I would meet all of my goals. And just like a science, it could not have been more accurate. The choices you make on your own, your workouts ...they all tell the story in your assessments. So if you try to take shortcuts or cheat the system, you'll only be cheating yourself. More than anything else though, Inez helped me to shift my mentality. Its not just about losing a few lbs, it's how to embrace a healthier lifestyle. It's not about depriving your body, it's about nurturing your body. So much of what I gained from working with Inez was a shift in perspective as well as the empowerment that comes from realizing that you do have the ability to control so much if you prioritize it. I also booked a few personal training sessions with Inez which was also a first for me. I've seen a lot of trainers stand around at the gym and bark orders while they gaze at their phone, which was so off-putting. But training with Inez was awesome! Thirty minutes would fly by and I always felt perfectly challenged - mentally and physically engaged. I grew up playing sports my entire life, so I do know what I respond to best when it comes to pushing myself and Inez has it! She's the perfect balance (for me) of tapping into that deeper, inner motivation that inspires you to give your best. She's not barking commands, and yelling "30 more seconds" because you broke form. That's not motivating to me. Instead, she's right there with telling you that you've got this, assessing and correcting your form while observing your natural tendencies. She's just the best! Obviously, by now you can tell that I strongly would recommend working with Inez but I also encourage you to be honest with yourself before you reach out. If you're looking for shortcuts or have a tendency to make lots of excuses, there may not be a fit. But if you know you'll give it your best and remain honest and coachable then you'll make progress and Inez will be right by your side through the ups and downs. Although I've completed my 12 week program this will not be the end of me working with Inez. My goals will continue to evolve and I look forward to working with her in those next iterations. But I can tell you that working with Inez is money well spent and an experience that I'm so grateful for!

    Starting 4 years ago, I have struggled to find or maintain a healthy, sustainable lifestyle or…read moreweight. While not super overweight, I definitely carry 25+ pounds more than I should. Since my wife and I had children, I have found I have problems eating well and exercising as much as I used to. My energy levels are lower than ever, and I have almost no time to spend carefully planning for, preparing, or eating meals. I travel and entertain socially for work, and co-own a consulting firm, and find that restaurants, bars, airplanes, and hotels are not conducive to my own personal wellness and well-being. Natch. Enter Nutrition Unlocked and Lauren, whom I located through Yelp (and which led me to her website). I liked what I read online, so I booked a two-session assessment / planning appointment for April 2014. Lauren is conveniently located in Arlington near the Orange Line. She's also available for home visits, although I chose to meet at her home-based office during the weekday. There's ample street parking (and she can give you a guest pass so you don't have to worry about the County towing you!). Lauren is a very good listener, and talking about my eating / nutrition habits felt a little like the first meeting with a new therapist ;-) She's patient -- if you go on a tangent, she's there to listen, respond thoughtfully, and redirect you both conversation-wise and nutrition-wise. She provided me with a basic but thorough education about nutrition, metabolism, what my body needs on a daily basis in the way of total calories, protein, carbs, fats, fluids, etc. -- which I realized I had never been taught, or learned on my own. As it turns out, breakfast is an important meal (yeah... I didn't get the memo) and I wasn't getting enough nourishment, or enough protein when I was eating in the morning. She also educated me about making better, informed choices at the supermarket, and especially when out to dinner, or entertaining socially. Portion control and moderation is and will be, in large part, the key to success for me. As is being active and finding what works within the parameters of my home life and work life. I intend to keep up semi-regular visits, because it's one of the best investments I can imagine making for myself. Here's to eating better and feeling better!
