If so, this may be the place for you! First, their 3 year old daughter was running around (she was cute - but I *thought* I would come here to relax!). They had a kids show on a loop full blast - think made up songs to the tune of Farmer in the Dell, Baby Shark, and Ring Around the Rosy. OVER and OVER and OVER... it was like some sort of military torture device! Now for the nails... my pedicurist was a man and he was so ROUGH. He grabbed skin next to my nails and pulled (like pulling a hangnail). I actually yelled!!! My nail beds were bloody, so he poured alcohol on them with no warning. Yelped again! His massage was so rough, it was definitely not relaxing, as I was wincing in pain. Finally, the torture was over (at least the pedicure - not the kiddie music torture). I went to a different man for my manicure. Once again - super rough... and SLOW. A manicure with just polish (not even gel) took an hour - all while that stupid kid show was playing on repeat! He cut my cuticles back so far, they bled too. So, all in all, I left with a headache, bloody fingers and bloody toes! Today my big toes are swollen and hurt, and blood is crusted next to the nails. I'm out of town and so worried they will get infected for my party this weekend. Avoid this place at all cost!! By the way, the salon was dirty. I should have left as soon as he pulled the first skin from my nail and saw the dust and dirt on surfaces and mold in the water feature. . What was I thinking!!???

I had my first experience with DACHI last week. I look forward to returning…read more Everything about this experience went so well. Reading about the dry cut method previously, I thought it might be a lifeline for this pandemic mane. When I called for an appointment, Joan was so helpful, guiding me to ensure success on that first visit. I was reminded that wearing a mask in the salon is required. On entering this beautiful refuge, I was transported to a very different world from the one we are experiencing now. The decor is so soothing, as are the sounds from the fountain. Nothing has been overlooked. Even the stylists' work stations are gorgeous with beautifully finished slabs of wood. The mirrors are surrounded by bamboo-like metal work with ginger leaves. I met stylist Lindsey and we discussed a course of action. She was looking at a head that needed work before the lockdown in March. This was pandemic hair at its worst. Long story short: After flat ironing, Ashley and her magic scissors snipped away. And snipped. Soft jazz music and the fountain in the background provided soothing audio. And Ashley continued to snip. Off to another station for a wash and condition and -- wait for it! -- a head and neck massage. Heavenly. Returning to Ashley's cutting station, she completed the styling with a few more snips here & there, and provided some terrific tips on home care and upkeep. I shouldn't need any salon maintenance for three months. Throughout the two hours, we chatted. Joan popped by to introduce herself. Davide, the owner, indulged my vanity as I reminisced about Tokyo from many decades ago. At the end, I felt like a butterfly emerging from a cocoon, with a terrific styling that I have only dreamed of in the past. And a week later, using my unskilled hands, I am still thrilled. Dry cut is a long process. However, in the right hands, it is so worth it. And DACHI provides that, together with a tranquil environment for its clientele to luxuriate in. Enjoy!
