He stopped by every day to check on the progress and to go over details with us. He provided helpful insight into the design and choice of materials, particularly the rails and skirt. Mattas was the lead carpenter on our job and his carpentry skills are exceptional. He is meticulous, focused, and takes pride in his work. His partner, Arsen, was professional, conscientious, and hard working. They demolished and removed our old wood deck impressively neatly and swiftly. They worked through several days of extreme heat and beating sun and never slowed down. They were punctual, worked long days, cleaned up the jobsite before going home each evening, and completed the job sooner than we ever expected. This was the most pleasant experience that we have ever had with a contractor doing work on our home, and the deck came out even more beautiful than we could have hoped for. Our carpenter added that it made him "feel good to see quality work like that." Similar statements were shared by just about everyone who came to visit our home during the time that Deck Master was constructing the masterpiece that was to become our outdoor living space in Florida. In January of 2026, Deck Master began building the first of three projects: our screened porch, which to call a mere "screened porch" seems like a gross injustice. This became a cathedral-like space on an elevated Trex deck with soaring asymmetrical ceilings (designed by a wonderful architectural engineer Lou recommended). The entire structure was supported by massive 6" x 6" cedar-clad posts framing a 180° view of a subtropical paradise. Every morning, six days a week, Andre and Timmy would show up with Lou and begin working tirelessly to get the job done. They worked through the coldest days imaginable and hardly ever stopped to take a break. Their focus and professionalism were incredible. When the screened porch was nearly done, we asked them to take a look at our front and back decks, which desperately needed to be replaced. Even though we had not originally contracted them to rebuild the decks for us, they agreed to fit the additional work into their busy schedules. Lou brought in reinforcements to make sure the work could be finished before Andre had to leave for a very important family commitment. To say that I would recommend Deck Master Company is an understatement because I don't think there is another company in the world that could have done what they did. Over 45 years of experience and a deep commitment to their work and business have put Lou and his team into a class of their own. When I called them to make good on the repair they wanted $2200 to repair the deck instead of making good on their workmanship. They used skinny brad nails and glue instead of using SS screws to hold this OUTDOOR mahogany deck down. They barely sanded one layer and the finish came out dark and light all over the deck. I will not judge harshly for his comments for he has been burned. For the record, he has been refunded not only his 1600 deposit, but an additional 100.00, which I volunteered to pay for his trouble. No court filing required. Fact is I was dealing with severe health issues that led to the delay of his work. Furthermore, in our 32 years in operation, there have been zero complaints filed with BBB or Consumer Affairs. If you research the stats, you'll find only a small slither of small business can say that. We have made the corrective measures to this situation, and toward any future incidents.
