We used Luis's services in 2016 to repair a hole in our leather couch. The person who came to fix the couch, although a nice person, was not that experienced IMO. He guaranteed that he could patch the hole and that it would stay patched. I had my doubts because the hole was really a result of a manufacturer's defect...but my hubby thought it was worth a try. Welp, $480 later, the hole was patched (it was costly because they had to take the entire leather off of the couch, repair the hole and then re-staple the leather back onto the frame), but then 3 months later, the hole came back! I feel like I got scammed... They sent a man to repair a broken leg on my couch. I could feel that the wood in the structure of the couch had been compromised, so I thought it would be a complex job. His solution was to simply drill metal bits into the legs of the chair. This cost $350, the couch was still wobbly, and I could see that the leg was diagonal and not firmly on the ground. 3 days later, the couch was broken again. When I called to see what their refund policy was, the man (I'm assuming it's Luis who other reviewers are talking about) accused me of being 500 pounds and if I sat on the couch, how is that their fault? Fat shaming aside, he refused to refund me. He said he would contact me to schedule for someone to come out and rectify the issue. Have not heard from him since. CROOKS. My elderly mother gave them two antique chairs to repair. She paid a deposit and they took the chairs. Weeks without a follow up, my mom calls. Luis Huby assures her he has the chairs and will get them to her the first week of March. Here we are, March 10, no chairs, and the kicker--the phone number has been disconnected. Irreplaceable family heirlooms just vanished. This is theft and we're taking legal action immediately. read more

I do not recommend NY Furniture Doctors ever. I had deep scratches on one leaf of my kitchen table. I called them to check out the leaf and they came and said that it had to be sanded down and re-stained. I was told at that time that the finished product would look close to the other 2 sections of the table. The repairman took only the leaf in question, which I found unusual, for how could he even attempt to match the stain without anything to go by. Well, I made the mistake of paying top dollar ($715.00) at the time in full. After about 3 weeks, I became impatient and made several calls to this business, to no avail. I finally contacted my credit card company, and they called NY Furniture Doctor and less then a week later, the repairman came to my house with the leaf. As he was installing the leaf, I could see that it was obviously not even close to a match to the other leafs. It was only after I pointed this out that he said he would have to take the leaf back and re-stain it. This time, he took another leaf with him to match the stain. After another 2-3 weeks, I made many other calls, leaving a message each time. Only one of these times did I reach the company, and he said he would call later that night. He did not. Three days later, he came to my house with the 2 leafs, and installed them. The re-stained leaf once again was not even a close match, and I expressed my complete displeasure with the work. He said he told me it would not be a perfect match, which is true, but this finished product was, to me, unacceptable. I therefore do not recommend NY Furniture Doctors for the above reasons: (1) Poor workmanship (see picture showing the re-finished leaf and the rest of the table which was untouched) (2) 6 weeks without a table was unacceptable (3) Poor communication (not returning phone calls) read more

After reading the previous review I was very skeptical of using their services, but after shopping around for prices and being the economical person that I am found their prices to be the most reasonable. I had a leather cushion repaired, and they searched for just the right leather to match the couch and also added extra padding. If I could give this less than 0 stars I would. I called them to come fix my recliner part of my sofa, they came the Monday before thanksgiving. I was told it would be 2 weeks for the part to come in, I gave a deposit of 100 dollars for a total price of 275. They never answered the phone or returned our calls, finally my husband reached them and they came today and it was the wrong part and they told my husband it would be another 6 weeks before they could get the part. So my husband threw him out .we are out 100 dollars and the recliner is still broke. Very unprofessional.Dont use them!!! Say NO to this business which is a scam ran by Luis Huby. Luis contracts different carpentiers who actually do the job. He charges extremely a lot, with no mercy-and pays a bit to the second party. This is a reason why the quality of the work done under NYfurnituredoctors (aka Luis Huby) is all over the place. If the carpentier who works in your furniture is good then you get a decent job, if the one whois bad then you get shit done. Luis gets the money and never touches the subject, never inspects it and never wants to know about it. He wants only the big cash. He lives in NJ, Morris County and if you plan to sue him you have to do it under that jurisdiction. My story is very sad, and I won't give up chasing such a hungry Peruvian decent man for money and who lacks understanding that in US you should deliver service before charging anything. He lies a lot, he should not be allowed to rip off the way he has been doing it for so many years to the point he goes untouched. I was very pleased with my experience using "Ny furniture doctors" . They re-upholstered my living couch & chairs. The set is an antique & has been in my family for over 50 years so as you can imagine I was skeptical with anyone handling it. They took all the worries away from the first visit. There technician was very experienced & also made all the cushions firm again. They completed the Job as quoted & on schedule. I sent NY Furniture Doctors a video of a dresser that had a drawer that would stick. I was told over the phone that the repair estimate would be between $75-125. Then I was told that if I decided not to move forward with a repair, the visit would be $60. The repair person came over, noticed that a screw was sticking out of one of the drawer slides, and simply screwed it back in. He was here for less than 10 minutes and only needed a screwdriver. Then he told me that the total bill was $175. I told him that I thought the repair was going to be between $75-125, but he said that was in addition to the visit fee of $60. Somehow this repair guy banks more than attorneys, and nets $1050 an hour for his services. After screwing in the loose screw, the drawer still doesn't slide as well as the other drawers. When I made that observation, he said that he would have to charge a couple hundred dollars more to install new drawer slides to get it to perform as well as the other drawers. I am really disappointed by the lack of clarity in pricing and having to pay $175 to just screw in a loose screw. I would not recommend NY Furniture Doctors. read more
