I come to Ace whenever I need something fast and don't want to run around Sioux Falls and walk three miles in a bigbox store. The manager at Ace Hardware on W 12th and Kiwanis is more knowledgeable thanwledgeable than most handymen that are out in the field working. I am impressed and very happy with Ace. Let me start by say, if I could give them a 0 start review I would!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They get an F- This company is the worst company for a number of reasons. I brought them 2 single pane windows, one was broken and needed to be replaced and the other one just need to have the putty seal replaced. I took it there and they told me it would be 3 weeks before they could fix them, so they said I could take them out to the Ace out by Roosevelt School and they could get them finished in a few days, so that's what I did. They called a few days later to let me know they were ready. They told me I had to let them sit for about 2 to 3 weeks to let the putty dry. I didn't get a chance to look them over when I picked them up because I was in a hurry and was heading to the airport shortly after I had picked them up. When I got back in town I got a chance to look they over, and it was the worst window putty job I had ever seen, I could have done a better job, and it wasn't cheap! SO, I brought them to back to this store, because it was the closest to my house and told them I wasn't satisfied with what the work the other store did!! They were surprised that they did such a bad job. They said they would fix them, but it would take 2 to 3 weeks to fix them. I didn't care at this point as long as they were done right! To my surprise they called me a week later to tell me they were finished. I went out to pick them up the next day, and OMG, they were 100 times worse than before!!!!!! I was so damn mad that I just took them and left because this company has the most incompetent people working for them that I've ever dealt with!!!!!!!!!!!! And that's saying a lot, I worked in the construction industry for over 30 years! DO NOT EVER GO TO ACE IF YOU NEED QUALITY WORK DONE, ESPECIALLY WINDOW WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I rented a sand packer approx. 2 weeks ago. I had no problems getting it loaded into my Honda hatchback. When it came to returning it I was told by Larry the manager that it wasn't his job to help unload it and he was down right rude about. Now fast forward to today, I went back to rent to same machine and after signing the damage to my vehicle waver, I was met by Larry again who down right refused to load the machine into my car. He stated that was HIS policy not to load it into my car and told me to go get a truck. Sorry, but after 2 run ins with this this person who has the title of manager and should not be running a business. I refuse to give my business to Nyberg's Ace at any of their locations. read more

That's $4.75 a square foot, double strength sold elsewhere is $3.00 a square foot. Two medium base light bulbs $4.59 sold at Menards, same thing $3.29. I was in a hurry but I paid the price. It's like 7 11 of hardware stores. The 3 guys I talked to didn't want to take the time because they were counting things, finally one gave up, then got busy with another customer and passed it off on him. I was seconds away from telling them to jam it and go see manager. I'm done there, I will travel across town before I darken their doorway again. I called 2 Nyberg's Ace Hardware stores to find out if they sharpened scissors and the cost. The second location I called was the 12th and Kiwanis location. Wow, talk about BAD, no, HORRIBLE customer service! Not only did they not know the price, they had no idea how long it took for this service. The "customer service" guy I talked to said, "lady, I don't know how much it costs or how long it takes. A guy comes in and does it for us!" Not sure how they got on The Local Best list because they are not getting my vote. Ever. read more

Nyberg's Ace, regardless of location, has provided us with excellent customer service, and most employees are knowledgeable. While some items may be slightly more expensive than other stores, sales and specials are frequent, and the ACE Hardware Club card gives regular customers significant discounts as points add up.
