**FOOD: OMG our BEST restaurant experience on this vacation. Food was just excellent. Everything was so good. We specifically made reservations for their THURSDAY DINNER (traditional authentic dinner everyday Norwegians eat). This restaurant has this Norwegian type meatball/dumpling that they specifically prepare one Thursday a month. It's rather labour intensive preparation of this meal hence the once a month dinner special. A MUST TRY!!!
**COST (out of 4$): $$ Cheapest dinner we had on this vacation. Still so so incredibly good food.
**SERVICE: Service was so incredibly FRIENDLY and totally MADE OUR trip. Our server went above and beyond. We tend to be adventuresome diners. We seek out authentic local cuisine sort of like food of the everyday people. We specifically made reservations to try their Thursday supper.
Our Server "Tull"??? was absolutely WONDERFUL and so incredibly FRIENDLY. He understood that we were willing to try anything authentically Norwegian and he kept bringing us things we hadn't ordered but he said we had to try because they were truly Norwegian He brought us this some sort of milk to try (sour, i think it's an acquired taste), then some clear liqueur that was only made in Norway (strong strong strong), brown cheese (very Norweigan and was so incredibly smooth and creamy) and reindeer carpaccio (absolutely delish), and then some orange fanta like soda called Solo which is only made in Norway. (none of these things made it on our bill) It was a super fun and entertaining evening. Was one of the top 5 highlights of our trip. Thank you!!!
**DECOR: This is one of the oldest restaurants yet it has a easy going vibe. Tavern Pub sort of feel, dark inside but it's a casual place. Lot of young people eating here. Centrally located. Almost hip hipsters type of place. Can picture this as a roadside inn/pub from the 18th century where travelers stopped to eat and drink before getting back onto their horse or carriage to continue their journey. Just so wonderful a place.
**RECOMMEND: YES DEFINITELY WHOLEHEARTED would recommend. Definitely would go back if we ever to visit again
**OUR MEAL: Cod tongues (yummy delish, never had before and it was so good), Scallop salad (dressing was amazing and scallops cooked perfectly), 2 Guest Dinners (Thursday Dinner special - consisted of the norwegian meatball, reindeer sausage and potatoes. Very very good. MUST TRY), Duck (so tender and so perfectly done, so mouthwateringly good), desserts were good too we had a traditional ice cream sort of dessert with cloudberries.
