We purchased our 2024 Wrangler a few days ago. We were hesitant to buy because the reviews quite frankly, cannot be worse. I can't speak to the service department, which seems to be the main driver of the bad reviews. We dealt with Ben. He knew we were coming from Houston. There was one particular vehicle we wanted that had the specific features we desired. The deal overall went very smoothly. Kudos to the Finance Manager, Jose, who also great to work with. Was our experience worth driving 2.5 hours for? Yes and no. We liked Ben, he seemed to work hard to make the deal happen. Whoever was behind the scenes pulling Ben's strings came across as sketchy and we got off to a rather rocky start because the first offer he presented seemed dishonest. However, everyone walked away happy in the end and that's what matters. All and all, would I buy a car from Ben again? Absolutely. Would I visit any more local bbq restaurants while there? Hard pass. We bought a Jeep from Nyle Maxwell just a few months ago, and the difference between the sales experience and the service experience is night and day. When you're buying a vehicle, they're all smiles and extremely helpful. But once you need service, that customer-first attitude completely disappears. We brought the Jeep in for its second oil change and to have a shimmy checked out. I specifically told my wife to have them call me before approving anything because I suspected they'd try something shady, and unfortunately, I was right. They called and said it would cost $250 just to run a diagnostic and test drive it to see if they could recreate the issue. I mentioned that I suspected it could just be a tire balance or alignment (something simple and much cheaper) and asked if they could start with that instead. I was told that if they did only that, they wouldn't be responsible "if anything happened." Annoying, but fine -- I understood the legal angle. What really crossed the line was this: I asked if we paid the $250 diagnosis and it turned out to be the tire balance or alignment, would the $250 go toward that repair. They said no. Meaning: * $250 diagnosis * $49 tire balance * $125 alignment = $425 total ... for something that likely should have just cost $49-$125 in the first place. To make it worse, they require you to service your vehicle with them in order to keep the "warranty benefits" they heavily advertise when you buy the car. That warranty sounds great during the sale, but the second you actually need anything that's not engine or powertrain related, the prices instantly become outrageous. Bottom line: Great attitude when they're selling you a car Completely different attitude once you're in the service department Zero loyalty or courtesy toward recent buyers Cold tone, no effort to help, no goodwill, no understanding I miss the days when dealerships actually cared about customers after the sale. I bought an Ev and the charger I bought went out they gave me every reason why they couldnt replace it. I have a durango I bought in killeen had issues with getting it back there due to work and the drive so I took it to taylor for the work and explained the issue and told them I purchased it in Killeen and the issue was present since I purchased it just dont have time to make the drive so I took it to them same company you would think but was told it needed to go back to Killeen to be fixed. I have to say, dealing with service departments and dealerships ranks up there with dental surgery... not just a root canal but like teeth implants that have gotten an infection... 3 stars because they WERE very calming when I went in and my extended warranty turned out to be crap! They were a calming voice of reason, of course after no less than 4 hours of back and forth with 2 dealerships, 2 service departments, 1 finance manager, Ford ESP, and then the actual holder of the warranty..I was fried. I paid $170 for them to tell me it wasn't under warranty so I was going to bring it home. When I went to pick it up they said I had a recall, again I'm fried, why in the hell didn't this come up in the MANY calls today. Whatever, fix it, I'll see you next week. They got it fixed the NEXT day!! Yall rock! Now why jot 5 starts... the picture says everything. I drove my Jeep home, opened the hood and THIS!! The hose is not connected AND where in the cornbread hell are my bolts??? So...I'm going to get to call them ON A SATURDAY and try to get this fixed. I'm taking bets on what they say... These days I wouldnt recommend to anyone, I have waited for a service I paid for but never corrected, the service directed called me to say give me a week or 2 and he would find me a car to drive while they once again attempted to correct my issue. Never seen a dealership that doesn't want to sell a truck. Already had an OTD price ready and accepted. But when it came to get the truck ready for me to go sign and pick up they had no sense of urgency. Telling me if I put a deposit down they would rush it. Told them I'm coming from out of town and tried to head there way 3x in one week everytime I've told them I'm on my way they say it's not ready. Then if I do a credit app they would also rush it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. They are advertising a sale price for cars with hail damage. We found one with minimal damage and was confirmed the final price before trade in and TT&L. We made an appointment and drove from Houston to purchase. We loved the car and the damage was badly visible. We sit down and the price is $2000 more. We're told it's because that price was conditional on the trade in being valued at $5k or more. We ask where that is stated on the website. The manager admitted that caveat used to be on the site, but wasn't there now. Also, the trade in value was nearly 10x less than what we had received elsewhere. I expect some variation between dealers, but 10x?! Now having read the reviews of their service department, I understand why they tried to do this. Buying a car is never fun, and you always read the fine print before signing, but the fine print want even available and they tried to screw us anyway. Go somewhere else. read more

I purchased a Dodge Charger here and paid msrp pricing for a used car only to find my brakes were squealing and screeching when I stop the day I left the dealership. I was also advertised 12,221 mileage and I purchased the car at 13,800. When they sold the vehicle to me, it had never went through their pre owned maintenance check. I even mentioned the brakes to my salesman and they argued that since it was visibly up to par that the squeaking was my own problem to solve. I basically walked into the stereotype that we all grew up talking about with the shady salesperson/sales manager. To make a long story short, I was told the vehicle that I wanted (2019 Ram 1500 Classic LS Silver) was discontinued and does not exist in the market. I was then quoted a price to add features on a lower package to "build" what I wanted. The price quoted was double what I ended up paying elsewhere. The package does exist, but this location just didn't have any in their inventory and clearly weren't interested in valuing me as a customer that day. I'll spare all the detail, but it was pure BS. They looked me in the eye, shook my hand and lied, which I still have a hard time processing. The location is convenient, but the building is in need of renovation. Old, cracked furniture with enclosed cubicles that feel more like holding cells. The parking lot is crammed and difficult to maneuver. Based on my experience, I would not send anyone to this location with so many other options. read more

I dropped my jeep off for a seat issue and was given a call that my main battery was dead after being in the shop for 8 days. I gave approval for it to be replaced only find out 3 days later that it still wasn't replaced. The other part that I needed had never been ordered based on questions that I was asking. They wanted to keep it longer until the part that they never ordered would come in. That just makes No sense at all!! I finally went to pick up my jeep and sure enough it didn't start. It was running when I dropped it off 11 days ago. Long story short I had them switch out the main battery while I waited in the lobby. The part is hopefully on order. I hope they get better service soon, but in the future I won't be leaving it there anymore. I understand that they have a totally new crew and poor communication with clients. I've been bringing my car in to this location for oil changes every 3-4 months since 2020. I've written a review after each visit and always rated 5 stars. In June I brought my car in because my radio was frozen and my rear view camera was not working. My car was there for a few days when I received a call saying I needed to get the radio replaced. I asked about my camera, and was told the parts are connected. I picked my car up while I waited for the part to arrive.   About a week and a half later I dropped my car off, and again told the person I gave my keys to that my radio and rear view camera were not working, and was told the part was connected so both issues would be fixed.   I was called the next day and told my car was ready, I asked if both issues were fixed and was told yes, they were fixed. I went to pick up my car and Preston asked me what I brought my car in for, and I told him my two issues. He told me they did not realize my camera was not on the radio, and only the radio was fixed. I asked, why would you claim you have fixed the issue, and not double check the issue is fixed before calling me? This could have been easily noticed by putting my car in reverse.   Preston told me it would take 1 week to order the correct part. I waited 1 week to call back and ask if I could bring my car in, and was told the part was delayed and it would be there in two weeks.   I called two weeks later and was told again, the part is back ordered and it would take a week to arrive. Finally, a month since my car was "fixed" I was told the part was there and I could bring my car in and I would get a free detail for my inconvenience. I brought my car in today and my camera was fixed. Great. My car was not detailed. I went back inside and was told they forgot, and I could bring my car back another day to get my car detailed. This entire experience has been ridiculous. There is no communication in the service center and they don't care about their loyal customers. I emailed the manager Mr. Maxwell a few weeks ago and I have not heard back. It's very clear he doesn't care. I am done with this place and would never recommend anyone go there. read more

Do yourself a favor and do NOT get service done at this location. there is a 3 to 5 day wait and you must leave your vehicle. That is just for a diagnostic to be done. Do not expect any communication because apparently they don't have enough staff and they're overworked. On top of that, I was told that my repair would be under warranty only to find out that, my service representative made a mistake and I will need to pay full price. I had to make multiple phone calls as well as texting the service line before I could even get any kind of a response back. Good luck on finding out when you're going to get a repair done and make sure you don't have any questions you need answers to because you won't find anybody to give them to you. read more

Their owner is a nice guy. That is the only positive thing to say about this dealership. The service department never answers the phone or accepts appointments online (they have an infuriating system that has zero available dates for months and you only learn this after spending 15 minutes inputting your information) or responds to chats. After 5 days of calling I finally asked for the parts department and asked that guy to walk down to service department and hand them the phone. The only reason I went to that store is I had to use my road hazard warranty on my tires there. I made sure they had the tires in BEFORE I dropped off my truck. It still took 3 days. 3 days to mount and balance two tires. Then they charged me $120 to mount and balance two tires even though it was supposed to be covered under warranty. I paid it just because I didn't want to deal with them anymore. Then they called me up the next day and say they made a mistake and I owe them the full cost of the tires, because they could've been repaired, 900 more dollars. I told him I wasn't gonna pay it and he can come find me. They hit the trifecta of being lazy, incompetent and crooks. read more

I took my 2018 Ram pickup into service department on 7/5. I picked it up 7 days later on 7/11. Check engine light had come on. After evaluation I was told it was oil pressure switch. Repair lasted 137 miles and now it is back on. They wanted me to put it back in shop, to replace computer at a cost of around $1000. I can't play the game of "replace the parts until we fine the right one". After initial repair and weeks rental I'm out $640 already and the lights still on. Why 2 stars and not 1? Staff and Mgr. were pleasant to work with but I just lack confidence they can find and fix problem without spending thousands of dollars. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Maxwell since we moved to Texas over 20 years ago. Every car that we have bought has been through them. But what happened this morning at the service department in Taylor, I will never buy another car from them again. I went to go get a oil change that I had already scheduled on line an it told me it would be 69.95. After I get go to seat down I get a text saying here is your repair order and it says the Estimated cost will be 69.50, if you approve please text y or n for not accepted. I wait in waiting area, and start hearing the service people cutting down one customer after another and one of them was seating in the area. They finally get my vehicle done and I go to pay and the woman says its 99.68. I show her the thing that I signed and she says its a estimate. I was like its a oil change not like I am getting a repair and if it was going to be more they are supposed to let you know. She takes me to the manager and he proceeds to tell me that text didn't come from us, etc.,etc.. And that is only a estimate, again its only a oil change. I had to argue with him for 15 mins to honor the price that I signed for. The excuses that he was using didn't make any since. O and he did say the pricing online(their website) aren't correct. I was in the market for a used Ram 3500. I found a 2015 at Nyle Maxell of Taylor via Auto Trader. The truck had good mileage and fit the bill. I It was priced well so I drove 30+ miles to take a look. I ran a Car Fax on the truck prior and found it had been stolen and had been in an accident. That would be the reason it was priced well. If the truck had been at an independently owned lot I never would have made the drive. Many of those dealers take crashed cars and halfway put them back together then sell them below market value. In my 60 years when I was short cash I bought vehicles like that from the dealers I described. This time I was looking at a mid $30k truck on a Ram Jeep Dealership. Although priced well, the truck was still in the mid KBB fair market value range, so not a wholesale salvage job. When I got to the dealership the truck had not been through its mechanical check yet. When I drove it the truck pulled significantly to the right. The truck had two 8/10 worn tires on the front and new tires on the rear. The salesman, who I liked told me when the truck went through its 70 point inspection the alignment would be addressed. I told him to call me when that was done and I would come up and drive the truck again. I was told the truck was ready a few days later. I drove up with the intention of buying the truck if the problems had been addressed. When I got to the dealership the same worn tires were on the front and the truck still pulled right. The salesman assured me new tires and alignment would fix the problem. My response, "Fix it and I will buy the truck". The Sales Manager countered with an offer of $500 towards front tires and alignment. He said, buy the truck, take it to their service, have them put the tires on, do the alignment and they would take $500 off the price. I asked, "So, if the truck does not align after putting the tires on I am stuck with a bent truck?" The answer, "Yes. Buying used cars is a risk". I countered saying I would buy the truck for the asking price if they put two matching tires on the front and prove the truck could be aligned. At dealer cost it would have cost less than the $500 they offered to credit me. They said, "No". I was in the car and motorcycle business years ago, including selling Jeep. Unlike the fly by night dealers I described above, name brand dealerships generally will have the unit sales ready before putting it out for sale. In this case this truck was not sales ready due to the alignment issues. Since the Sales Manager refused to prove the truck was repairable prior to me buying it leads me to believe he knew it was not. I expect this type of behavior out of Billy Bob Motors where bent trucks belong, not out of a licensed Ram dealership. I walked out. So, about 125 miles of driving and not coming away with a truck. Sad, but at least I won't be crabbing down the road in a misaligned truck worrying I might end up in a bar ditch! Buyer beware! read more

I purchased a 2011 Nissan armada from them about two years ago. Was recently pulled over and the officer informed me that the vin tag by the windshield is missing at that it was a felony to remove. The pulled me out of the car a treated me like a criminal. I thought Nyle maxwell was a reputable dealer didn't think I needed to check the vin tag. Lesson learned !! I have reached out them several times to get a solution to this problem. They have not returned my calls , made promises they did not keep about responding to me. I'm Texas it's against the law to sell a vehicle with a vin tag missing. I wouldn't recommend buying from Nyle Maxwell as they just left me hanging. Now if I ever get pulled over again I'm likely to have the same experience. Not something I enjoyed. I gave them multiple opportunities to make it ride. They just don't respond. I purchased a used vehicle from Nyle Maxwell, and found out after a decently long road trip that the vehicle was VERY out of alignment. This is something that I would assume would be part of a vehicle inspection by the dealer prior to putting it up for sale as this vehicle was represented as a well functioning and safe vehicle. It wasn't. I contacted the dealer to try to get this alignment issue taken care of as it had to be done at the manufacturers dealer. They outright refused to pay for the alignment ($115) since it had bee over a week since purchase. They didn't even offer to pay for half. Nothing. Needless to say that this will be the last time Nyle Maxwell will be getting any business from me, or any and everyone I know or who I can talk to. All over $115 read more

This review was sparked because a "representative" of Nyle Maxwell called me at 8:00 at night trying to sell me on the idea of trading in the truck. I wouldn't buy another Ram if it meant I had to walk. Worst vehicle I have every owned. Can't trust it to bring you home, so you stay near civilization. The service department lacks in qualified repair persons. After three visits to the shop (under warranty) to address the "4WD Shift in Progress" message, they told me they couldn't reproduce it at not to worry about it. Fast forward a few months and the front axle actuator was trying to engage on its own. I had to unplug it to get home. The rear wheels were "hopping" as well when I turned (I'm guessing because it thought it was in 4WD). I googled "4WD shift in Progress" and found dozens of posts about it. They all said the same thing - dealer doesn't know what is wrong. They also all had the same solution for the fix - a cheap switch on top of the transfer case that tells the computer if it is in 4WD or not. I replaced the switch at home in less time than it takes to drive there. Problem still solved after 8 months. Maybe they should just google the symptoms like I did. At least they would find the solutions their customers already know. If you are reading this looking for a solution to the "4WD Shift in Progress" message and/or your front axle is engaging on it's on, and you have no codes in the computer I suggest you try this. On a BW44-47 transfer case (manual shift on the floor) replace part number 68211454AA (4WD Switch with Magnet Assist). read more
