After a stay at this place, I basically saw it degrade in real time. When I first started attending…read moretherapy here, I was wowed by the office's wonderful space. There's a kitchen with coffee and snacks, two well kept bathrooms for professional care and just when you need to go, and the place is cleaned at least once a week professionally. The therapists were kind and knowledgeable, and my first few days there were extremely good, and I thought I'd be receiving such quality care from them for awhile. About two and a half weeks into my therapy, I had my first bout of therapy when I wasn't already feeling decent, and saw how they handled it. It wasn't the best. One of the therapists came into a room I was de-escalating in, and calmed me down well. However, after she left, another one (the head therapist) took me aside and somewhat reprimanded me, asking me some rather odd questions. That was that. But it was also kinda strike one in my mind. It was onto next week. About two weeks later, I came into therapy on a Friday. Showered, shaved, and ready for good things to happen. This stopped when the director of the practice took me aside, and started asked me some icebreaker questions. I answered, but I knew something was off. Sure enough, she started bringing the real problem up in time. She asked if the shirt I was wearing was the same one from yesterday, and I told her the truth, it wasn't. But she insisted it was, and that she was very perceptive. In time, I got her to admit she'd been tipped off by someone else. In the end, I was given the choice to either go home or go home, so I went home. I guess they can handle suicidal ideation and relapsing, but not "this person is too depressed to do wash every week". That's strike two. Third, about half a week after this, our therapy was interrupted by the head of the practice coming in again, and this time effectively telling us "you not showing up loses us money, don't skip therapy". Not in a "we care about your recovery" way, but in a business first manner. She saw us as dollar signs sitting in chairs, and didn't bother sugarcoating it there. Strike three, but I needed this therapy badly. So, I stuck it out. One week later, I show up on Friday feeling pretty bad already. We do our check in question, and go into the activity, in which we're allowed to use our phones. So, using my phone, I do the activity. The therapist leading it, however, must have also woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. She came over to me, and in one of the nastiest tones I've had taken with me, told me to leave the group room. I did more than that. I left the practice, and haven't come back. I imagine more of my fellow group members will do that in time as well. In short; new horizons had a 5 star review as a therapy place, which is why I wanted care from it. But I imagine in time, this newly opened business will show its cracks. I saw them open in real time. I wouldn't recommend therapy from here, but there's a kitty cafe across the street. That's a nicer place to go to.
