This police department is the most corrupted in New York City. I called asking for a welfare check on my cats because I heard they were living in deplorable conditions. I am legally fighting in court to get them back. I just wanted to make sure they were okay. When I stepped foot in the 108th Precinct, the sergeant--I don't know his name; he looks Indian or from Bangladesh--told me that the cops can go in, check the cats, and remove them if they are living in horrible conditions. He told me to go to the scene and call 911, and the cops would start their investigation. This idiot straight-up lied to me. I waited two hours for two women who looked miserable as ever to show up. One of the officers' names was April Iannetta. She was a hot mess. I don't even know how she is an officer. She did nothing to help me. They were nothing but rude. She literally went into the building, told the doorman to call the guy so they could check on the cats, and the doorman said he didn't answer. She came back and said he didn't answer, so he's not home. I said, "You didn't even knock on the door." She said he's not home, so there's no point in knocking. When I went back to the sergeant, he literally lied again, saying that Officer April Iannetta said she conducted an investigation and that the superintendent said no cats were living in that apartment. I hate the NYPD. I would rather die than call them ever again. They lie and use the system while they are walking snakes. I made a misconduct report on the officer, and I hope in the next 20 years the department changes for the next generation. read more

This is by far the most unprofessional precinct I have encountered. I visited seeking assistance and was met with a complete lack of help and an incredibly hostile attitude. Specifically, I dealt with a bald officer who was not only rude but whose behavior felt he was racist accuse my accent. It is deeply concerning to see such a lack of basic professionalism and respect from those meant to serve the Woodside community. I was hit by a car today while riding an e-bike in Long Island City on the corner of 11th St & 46th Ave, a 6 minute walk from the 108th Precinct. The driver sped off the second they saw me start moving and I did not get the license plate. To be honest I was in shock, my first instinct was not to call 911. I called my co-workers around the corner who came and got my e-bike and helped me get an uber. This happened at 12:15pm, I called the precinct by 1 and the dispatcher told me to come in person because they do not take reports over the phone. She said to go see a doctor first and then highly suggested I come in today and do not wait. I just went in at 3:30pm, waited 30 minutes for them to hand me a piece of paper to fill out and send to Albany. What is Albany going to do? The incident happened around the block from THIS precinct! Then he said my other option was to go back to the incident and call 911 from the scene. What a waste of 911!!! It is not an emergency, I just need to file a report. So here I have been standing at the scene, for 45 minutes in the rain, since calling 911. I wonder if they will even show up. Unbelievable. read more

Took over 5 HOURS for a call back when I requested help in documenting an accident. I say call back because I couldnt wait around at the scene until they took their sweet ass time coming down. I know minor fender benders arent exactly top priority but 5 HOURS is insane. This is an incredibly stark reminder that the cops have no legal obligation to do a damn thing for you. Make sure you can handle yourself in times of danger at the very worst because the last thing you wanna do is depend on this pricinct to do jack shit besides make you wait. read more

They are useless. Seams they are just hiding under there tables while the illegal fireworks are going on here in The Hunters Point South River front park all night long. This is a residential neighborhood with people working as first respondents as well and needing to get there sleep... Why is this area not closed at night. I am gonna be honest, it feels weird leaving a review for a precinct but then again I think the officer who helped me deserves to be recognized and appreciate for his outstanding effort to help us resolve a hit and run case. I called the precinct 108 to add some information about the case but the officer wasn't there at that time so I left a message to contact me back if he can. And there I got a call this morning from officer Eckerle and I was pleased to get his help. Even though we didn't get the guy who hit my car and ran away yet, I am still thankful for investigating the matter. Thank you guys! read more

You called 911. First response is from 108th precinct!!you are done!! They will try not to file a report even though you insist. Back to back too many bad experience. The cops tried to convince me that nothing worth to press charges happen. There was an assault. I have been attacked. They officially were backing up the attacker. They were there as a cop, DA AND judge. Guys I know paper work might be hard, but this is the job you picked. If you don't like it? You quit! That precinct has to be either closed or all the cops should be going back to school to learn how to be a cop. Apparently they lost the track! read more

If I can put zero star I would. There was a duo that was driving around my block in a black pick-up truck with out of state plates. 2 guys I have never seen before on my block that I've been for over 20 yrs on. They were flying a drone but at the same time they were walking around my car like checking out my rims, etc. which I found even more suspicious also given the fact that we have tons of car breakings in Sunnyside lately. Someone already vandalized my car. They kept on leaving and returning this went on for over an hour. At one point one knocked on my door asking me if I had seen his drone because he left it on my steps (which was a lie). They knocked on few of my neighbors doors as well and asking us to check our cameras. Once they didn't get their way they left and even left their drive box on the side walk with charger, wires, etc. About 20-30 mins later the cops knock on my door, along with the 2 individuals asking me right in front of them if I had called the "cops because 2 guys were driving around looking "suspicious". I said I did not and the cop kept on insisting that I did. I highly doubt that this is standard procedure, to bring 2 strangers that clearly don't live in the neighborhood to someone's door to create a confrontation. I simply said I did not and closed my door. I called the precinct back and a female answered she was extremely rude and condescending when I explained to her the situation and demanded an answer as to know if this was standard procedure. She told me "I don't know cause I was not that there" when I said that she didn't need to be there to know if procedure is procedure. She said she was not going to take my word for it. Unbelievable! They are trained based on scenarios! She went on and on telling me "well if you called the cops it was to complaint about being harassed, so they have to verify that you were the one that called". Yes, I get that but to question me in front of the guys that were reported? I find that unprofessional and dangerous. You actually call the cops to protect you not to put you in further danger. I don't know who these 2 guys are, they can come back to retaliate, harm me and my son thinking I called the cops. WTF! This was so frustrating and now I don't even feel safe coming home when it is dark or hear any noise outside. Thanks for making matters worse NYPD! Good for nothing. Now I see why people don't resort to calling the cops. read more

So the experience I had was that I needed a police report that was initially mines (archived by now back in 93') so I visited the 108th Precinct in Long Island City and they said that I needed to fill out a form, have it notarized and mail it out. I think they only give police reports to vehicle related incidents. Other then that, you will have to fill out the form and have it notarized. They were helpful but when did the system become difficult? It's already difficult as it is just paying a visit. read more

I am not impressed at all by this police department. 1) Late last night a woman was seriously screaming in the street. I called the 108th precinct and got a 2 second recording and then it hung up on me !!!! That is it. You call for the police for help and you get an automated answering machine and they disconnect you. 2) A few months ago, there was an older man on the street mid afternoon and he was in bad shape. He couldn't stand up. He was hanging onto a tree so not to hit the ground. Just so happens I saw a patrol car across the street so I ran over and told them to go help the guy. They said ok. I watched them drive over to where the man was hanging onto the tree, they slowed down, the policewoman rolled down her window and yelled out "you ok ?" - the old guy sort of nodded and the cops just drove off. They never even came to a full stop !!! They never even got out of the patrol car !!! Maybe he was fall over drunk, but he was an older man and he could have been having a stroke/seizure/heart attack or something. These cops should have either taken him to a hospital or driven him home to make sure he didn't get hit by a car or something.
