    114th on patrol
    Tom I.

First off I have tremendous respect for NYPD - They keep all of us safe and that's hard job. ...well, so about the 114th. I had hit and miss experience. Some officers I bumped into on the street or park were extremely nice, we exchange usual "hi", "what's up", "have you see this man?", small talk sometimes, joking around, nice guys (& ladies). Buuuuut, I really HATE calling the 114th on the phone! I saw bunch of motorcycles and cars passing red lights and stop signs (I know there're many kids and elders live on that street), so I called 114th. They tell me that I HAVE TO REPORT IN PERSON at precinct! Does NYPD give me a lift there? (Also this conversation ended "officers have more important task than following up traffic violation in progress. CLICK!") So I called 311 to report the problem and next day I followed up with 311, and to my surprise the 114th investigated the report...12 hours AFTER my first call! Yeah, I'm sure those motorcycles and cars were still at the red light just waiting to get ticketed!?!? Does crime in progress mean anything to them??? I guess I have to start wearing my ugly reflective running vest when picking up a newspaper from corner store? This is why I sometimes feel like I'm living in the 3rd world country.

Walking back from the grocery store I witnessed car 3422 of 114th in Astoria driving erratically in the bike lane from 30th avenue to Newtown avenue, up Crescent street. I thought for sure there was an emergency. But all the two individual police officers were doing, dangerously swerving in front of ppl and traffic stopping abruptly in front of the bodega was getting iced coffees. When they came out of the bodega I asked why they performed illegal maneuvers just to get coffee And the female told me that she didn't have to answer me and drove away. She then proceeded to tell me to have a "blessed day" over her car's loud speaker. I walk across that bike lane with my dog and wife and have seen children and families crossing not paying attention because we're all not expecting police cars in the lanes. So obviously this officer is in the wrong. But I know bc of the reputation of the NYPD I know nothing will happen If I file proper complaints. I Just wanted to post. Some of these cops are jokes, kids who get paid minimum wage with no incentive for a future, not serious, not humane, jr skillset. They would be just as happy working at a Yogurt shop.

hand cuffs on for two whole hours. corrupt officers shouldn't be allowed to work.

Called the station, daily, in the morning to see if it was ready and each time the officer on the phone was very polite and told me to call them the next day because my report wasn't ready. Finally when I called on 1/16 in the morning, they had my report and told me I could come any time to go pick it up. He told me to remember my report number and told me that I needed a 10 dollar money order to go pick it up (make sure you have a money order - they will not accept any checks or cash). When I went to pick up my report I sat there for maybe 10 minutes and Officer Scott helped me out and got me my receipt and gave me my accident report without any problem. Besides the fact that the report wasn't ready in 3 days like the officer in the scene of the accident had told me, my interactions with the officers in the precinct was very excellent. Also the officers who arrived at the scene of the accident were great too. They made a horrible situation into an easy one to handle - I wish I wrote down their names to give me them credit for making things so easy. Hopefully I never have to come again to a police station for an accident report, but if I do I hope I get the same attention that I received in this precinct.

You guys do not respect people and it's crazy because we pay your salary through our taxes I wish these people would have some respect others even if my dilemma isn't as severe as somebody being I would appreciate it if somebody would've came as soon as possible instead of dragging it on for 7 hours having me call time and time again realistically I probably won't get my car back because these people don't even care to look for it. I even let them know that there was a few cameras where it was given a ticket in Manhattan, but they don't care. They haven't even gone to check it so to hell with the cops you guys are so ass.

All the staff members in grey shirts salute you and call you sir when you walk by. They don't seem to do any work though. Just whole bunches of them standing around looking like robots, all staring in the same direction. Weird. But they're harmless if you leave them alone. And they seem to have gotten chubbier over the years...maybe having a nice cafeteria in your work place isn't a great thing... The building itself is ginormous and is very impressive looking. Very clean. But, the entry and exit doors are always broken, allowing the wind to blow right through the complex, completely negating any benefits of a "green" building. Who designed these doors?? The gym is top notch. Much better than my basement. Gym staff all look fit and seem to know what they're talking about. I highly recommend patronizing this place if you have the right credentials, even though they don't really want or need your business. I'd give it 5 stars. But we all know there's plenty of progress to be made. As soon as you call yourself #1, you're done making improvements. That goes for our country as well. Let's get to work!

The line to pick up packages can be very chaotic with no system whatsoever in place. It's come to the point where I would get Amazon packages sent to the locker at the 711 instead of to my address and risking it being sent through the post office and then having to go pick it up. One thing that is really not the post office fault is that there are a lot of people sending packages overseas so it's a bit more time consuming to process. I wish they would have express counter for package drop offs like UPS and Fedex has. I'm sure there are a lot of people who just want to drop off a prepaid package and end up in line as the people who need more service.

Another update in regards to my stolen package- Long story…read moreshort, I had a package earlier this year that was supposedly "misdelivered" by my local USPS driver. Our building's security footage proves he was never around at the time of the incident, nor was any package ever left. I was also able to check with all of our neighbors and they didn't receive it either. So one way or another, this driver falsified a gps scan. Even before this incident, he has had a bad reputation of repeatedly losing our building's key (conveniently right around the same time mail goes "missing") and destroying our packages. Management here has been told about these issues time and time again. They don't give a damn. All that to say, I just received an email from USPS claiming they're now closing my missing package request. This happened earlier this year and now all of a sudden, they're refusing to even keep that open? I'm pissed. First they cover up this guys blatant felony, lie about sending a carrier to pick up this supposedly 'misdelivered' package and now I'm getting punished for exposing this? I can't stand this post office or anything it represents. I'm warning you, don't trust them. There's a real criminal side to this place and they are not being held accountable.
