My husband is LEO and we just raveled here from out of state and he always tries to make it a point to exchange challenge coins/patches. We had ran into several LAPD officers while walking and couldn't seem to find someone who had them to exchange. One of them instructed to us to go to the NYPD Precinct in Midtown and they would be able to provide them to him. Not that it matters but it was quite a walk but worth it to us. When we walked in, the officer up front was an older woman who said what do you need which such attitude. my husband quickly explained that this wasn't an emergency knowing the job but then explained what had happened with the officer instructing us to come here to see about a challenge coin. she was very rude and said no she didn't have one. i understand this isn't a big deal. but this is what gives law enforcement a bad name. in a world where they don't have many fans... and being that my husband is also an officer... things could've been handled differently. she didn't even ask anyone else at the station. she shut us out and we left completely turned off by the NYPD. read more

This police precinct from what I've been told, covers the Times Square area. The satellite building is cool looking and styled to appear like the other theatre buildings. If I were a cop, working in that area Serbs exciting. Unfortunately, this article isn't to discuss the beauty of our rosy world, but rather a thorny commentary regarding the lack of professionalism some officers of the law continue to uphold. Today, while walking through a once vibrant city, I overheard a few teeny cops talking. It surprised me to to find out that they were commenting about my apparent appearance. They assumed my sexual orientation in discussion by referring to me as someone who's a "cocksucker" if they meant what it outwardly means. He was large set and blonde, so was his female partner. She hushed him as they walked away. It rude, either way. If it was something acceptable to publicly say, then hushing him wouldn't have occurred. Maybe he wanted something from me, other than gaining my attention. lol The word has been used interchangeably, like certain racial or ethnic slurs. It's not always what it seems, although I suspect it for what is meant. It's an offense term to use regarding anyone nor is it anyone's business what one does privately. If it weren't for screamers, then probably vocal expressions of disapproval wouldn't be as prevalent. Then again, everyone has the right to be as obvious and as screaming as they so choose. I wasn't sure entirely, as I'm not what was said, but still find it offensive non the less. In these times we're living, you'd think these cops, as stressful and dangerous as be their jobs, would find it in their best interests to show greater kindness and peace towards others. I'm no saint, but I deserve better treatment in my time. Life is short and society has gone crazy, we may not agree on all topics and surprisingly agree others, but either way let's try and keep it cool. I suspect having a mostly youthful police department can cause immaturity and unprofessionalism from within the police department. Adults seldom speak in such a way. At least, the real adults I know and belong. I wanted to share a couple of pictures. I'm not looking to cause trouble, but rather to get it out there for good reason. As per the great cops out there risking their lives, especially under these current crazy circumstances, be safe and thanks for your hard work. One star for the glitzy starry looking Times Square satellite office, another two for ease of finding a cop should one be in need and the other for the good cops that do exist. read more

I get it! They towed your car because you didn't see the sign or maybe you did! These people are just like everyone else. The ladies at the window didn't tow you and I can promise they have heard every excuse under the sun! I could grab a coffee and go for the entertainment but would prefer not to go to pick up my car! I don't know how these people work at this place because the amount of cussing and yelling is just crazy. Pay your fine and get your car.. then go on living your life! read more

I went to the precinct to get fingerprints, and they told me to wait for a few minutes on the bench because they were changing shifts and busy. Fine, no problem. Twenty minutes later another woman came in asking for finger prints and was told to sit next to me and wait for someone to approach us. Fifteen minutes later, and nothing. She asked the receptionist if we would be seen and they said shortly. Another fifteen minutes later, and the woman next to me gets called on by the receptionist, to which she points to me and said that I was there first. The receptionist had no idea I was there. Apparently the only guy there that knew how to do the finger prints had "11 bodies" back there and we could wait an hour, go to another precinct, or come back tomorrow. We both left, feeling pretty negative about the experience. Poor communication, and priorities were focused on chatting with coworkers. I would definitely go to a different precinct. read more

I lost my wallet 12 days ago. Someone messaged me through Facebook and I'm just now seeing it. They informed me they turned it in to this precinct, so I called them at 12 am and the guy who answered was very helpful. He was able to track it down for me and I'll go pick it up tomorrow. During our trip to NYC, our 12 yr old son wanted to visit an NYPD precinct. We walked over to the Midtown South Precinct, where he asked the officer at the desk for a tour. That officer introduced us to Officer Lowe, and she was wonderful! She took the time to show our son the different areas of the precinct, introduced him to the entire detective squad. Everyone was so nice, friendly and accommodating! True professionals. That visit made his entire trip. Thank you to Officer S.Lowe and all the members of the precinct! Stay safe! read more

Time to clean Times Square! The crack smoking and crack selling is rampid in this area. Just check the subway, under the Duane Reade, On 42nd and 8th. The dealers are right infront of the Duane Reade. Mentally disturbed are constantly harrasing people, right by the 7Eleven and the Subway Sandwich shop. I lost my license in times square and had to catch a flight at 2pm. I didn't have any photo ID and I was told that I needed a police report to help me through TSA to get back to LA. I took a taxi ride over, bags and everything and walked into the precinct to see about 10 cops behind a desk having some eating, havinig some laughs and chatting. I saw some people sitting on the bench and I was the only other person there. After a few minutes of being ignored and I was in a hurry, I asked assertively if anyone was available to help me. Bad move because New York cops here are rude as hell. The FAT policewoman gave me a stare and stopped chomping on her pizza. A short young brown haired pale officer CASALE turned to me and yelled at the top of his lungs "HEY IF YOU TALK LIKE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE F**K OUT OF HERE" Talk about over reaction. Some people go into police work to protect and serve. Others go because they know they will have the power to be assholes to people with almost no repercussions. I've always adored and respected cops. I really can't even fathom how anyone could talk to anyone like that. I would have had some choice words but I was scared I wouldn't get my police report and with no time to lose, my companion sweetly asked him if he would just please sir let us get some help. UGH. We were walking out of there and I wish I could have asserted my 1st amendment right to flick him off. My son was in an accident a month ago. He was taken away by ambulance. Officer Sime never bothered to file her accident report. I have a feeling this is business as usual for her. Maybe her nails are too long to hold a pen. I've hired a lawyer and will pursue. read more

Was on vacation when I lost my wallet and all my identification. I needed a police report to have some verification and so I went here. The large black lady that didn't even seem to be an officer was more than upset to be stuck helping me. I happened to wander in right when she was starting to eat her burrito and that really pissed her off...it took me 4 hours to get a police report, this was the worst customer service/people skills I've ever seen exhibited, especially coming from the bacon strips that should be working to keep NY safe. read more
