Since I was told previously all staff are trained the same, I thought it would be ok. I was so wrong. Everything was different. The way savannah did it was way more painful than what Jody did. The temperature of the wax was hotter too. Even though I said it was hot, Savannah said she couldn't do it if it was cold. Errr...I'm not asking for cold wax. And she did not manage to do it in a single pull unlike Jody. So I had to endure the numerous tugging. Her recommendation on hair length was different from what Jody told me before. So I felt Savannah was giving the standard answer without taking into consideration of how everyone's hair growth is different. The last straw was finding leftover wax stuck in me when I took a shower. Unfortunately Jody will only be back in a year's time, so I gotta wait before I go back again.

I was easily able to book an appointment a few days in advance through the website and had no issues. I got a follow up call and text from Wency to confirm my appointment, which I thought added a great personal touch. I've been getting waxed for 6+ years now and I have never had a more painless and effortless wax experience than with Wency. Since it was my first time coming into Waxmi, I came in a bit earlier than my scheduled appointment to fill out some paperwork. My first thought upon walking into the studio was "This is adorable!" Her studio decor is beautiful and girly, with plenty of artwork and aesthetically pleasing corners. There's even a bowl of gummies in the waiting area. I unfortunately didn't snag any this time around... but next time! Wency welcomed me with a big smile and immediately got me a little cup of water. While I was filling out the paperwork she told me she was just going to go clean the room and get everything ready. Once I was finished with the paperwork, she walked me back to the room and walked me through the procedures. Even though I've gotten waxed before, she made sure I was comfortable and relaxed, which I definitely was! During the procedure, we talked and laughed, in what usually would be an awkard situation for most. I didn't feel a drop of awkwardness at all, which is a sign that Wency does her job right! All in all, the waxing itself probably took about 15 minutes. Quick and easy in my opinion! Due keep in mind, I do have a higher pain tolerance, so even though it was quite painless for me... everybody has a different body and level of pain tolerance. As I was leaving, she told me all about the aftercare, told me to email/text her if anything came up, and gave me a big hug. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend I've known for years... is that weird? Wency is a one-woman superstar who runs her business on her own, and I have serious respect for her being a woman-owned, small business owner. This is the first time I have ever been to a salon and looked worse when I left…read more I went in for a root touch up. I went in with lovely streaked blonde hair that showed some roots. I asked for foil but realized that I was not getting foils but rather a color match of my roots to the hair. I assumed that it would look ok. My hair looked so terrible after the dye job - it was orange and a grey white color. I simply could not walk out of there looking like that so said perhaps colour it light brown. I was assured that the orange would disappear. It didn't - my roots still had an orange tinge and to top it off the brown had a green tinge. I'm so darn polite. When I was asked about the cut I said just a trim of the edges, max an inch. I did not want him doing anything more as it seemed that he did more harm than good. I could see major chopping going on and decided to just call it quits. No blow dry..cut my losses. I went to another salon to try and repair the damage. The cut was so bad that one side was a full inch shorter than the other. They confirmed that the roots were orange and that the brown had a green tinge and that the cut was so bad that it needed to be redone to even out the differences in length. The repairing salon said there was so much damage I had to let my hair sit 10 days. I had a cut though and ended up with hair that was six inches shorter than I went in with oil order to get things evened off. I will never ever go back to this salon or ever go to Edison. While the salon owner did not cause any of the damage...the attitude that she was not interested in my concerns is disappointing, It is her business and such a horrific job reflects on her. She should have been respectful and listened. My advice to Addison was that he needs training. We go to a salon for expertise and in my mind, there was no expertise involved at all.

All the hair left on my neck and the missed spot in the corner was nothing but a real disappointment. Moving forward, she even decided to continue making harsh and negative comments about Vietnamese people and their culture about how dirty they are and a bunch of negative stories about this one Vietnamese girl who rented a chair at her salon. It was a total gong show and I can't tolerate racism and discrimination. I certainly will never ever be returning to this salon ever again.

My entire life has been a brow struggle. I could write an essay on that alone. I'm going to be honest. I won't be back for brows. I don't know if they just didn't have a range of tints to choose from, but she chose the darkest brown for my brows and told me to scrub them if they were too dark for me. It's not about even the skin tint, the hair colour is wrong. Yes, they were less bold, but the hairs are still nearly black. At other places, they've used a light brown which of course works better with my generally fair features. Do I have to come back more frequently? Yes, but that's also part of being a natural blonde. The shaping and wax was pretty wrong too. I know it's a challenge. They are blonde and I didn't give you how they normally look... but I was also looking to work with my brow shape thinking the microneedling experience would give you a reasonable idea on how to map them, etc... which is why I grew them out. I will certainly have to grow them back out over the next two months since the top-front of my brow was waxed away to a.. weird point? Having said that - they seem to have a lot of interesting services that I would like to try there - hydrofacial, microneedling... all of that. It was clean, quiet, and she worked dilligently and kindly. Parking is easy. I don't really hold it against the spa... very few people get this one right. It's been a struggle for many years. I'll come back and update my review on other services.
