It's about time I posted a review for Wency. She's fantastic, hands down the best wax lady I've ever been to and I hope I never have to find a new salon. I've been going to Waxmi regularly for the past 4 years, and every time, Wency is professional, thorough, clean, and such a pleasure to interact with. Waxing obviously isn't fun, but she makes it almost painless (for real!) and she has a gift for lightening the mood and taking the awkwardness out of it. She has become such an integral part of my hygiene routine, to the point where I see these regular appointments with her as self-care. I'm very prone to in-grown hairs and I never have an issue with her, she's literally that good!! Booking with her is easy and she checks in beforehand too so you can reschedule if needed, without paying any fees. She's a lovely person and is so great at what she does! 5 stars every time, 11/10!! read more

WOW. I am beyond impressed with Wency and her beautiful studio. Officially making this my new go-to wax spot! I was easily able to book an appointment a few days in advance through the website and had no issues. I got a follow up call and text from Wency to confirm my appointment, which I thought added a great personal touch. I've been getting waxed for 6+ years now and I have never had a more painless and effortless wax experience than with Wency. Since it was my first time coming into Waxmi, I came in a bit earlier than my scheduled appointment to fill out some paperwork. My first thought upon walking into the studio was "This is adorable!" Her studio decor is beautiful and girly, with plenty of artwork and aesthetically pleasing corners. There's even a bowl of gummies in the waiting area. I unfortunately didn't snag any this time around... but next time! Wency welcomed me with a big smile and immediately got me a little cup of water. While I was filling out the paperwork she told me she was just going to go clean the room and get everything ready. Once I was finished with the paperwork, she walked me back to the room and walked me through the procedures. Even though I've gotten waxed before, she made sure I was comfortable and relaxed, which I definitely was! During the procedure, we talked and laughed, in what usually would be an awkard situation for most. I didn't feel a drop of awkwardness at all, which is a sign that Wency does her job right! All in all, the waxing itself probably took about 15 minutes. Quick and easy in my opinion! Due keep in mind, I do have a higher pain tolerance, so even though it was quite painless for me... everybody has a different body and level of pain tolerance. As I was leaving, she told me all about the aftercare, told me to email/text her if anything came up, and gave me a big hug. I felt like I was hanging out with a friend I've known for years... is that weird? Wency is a one-woman superstar who runs her business on her own, and I have serious respect for her being a woman-owned, small business owner. She is so friendly, immediately makes you feel at ease, and fantastic at her job! If you're looking for a place to get waxed, go visit Wency at Waxmi. It was my first time getting waxed, ever!! Read all the glowing reviews and decided to choose this boutique. BEST CHOICE! Wency is so professional and kind. She answered all my questions and made the whole experience super comfortable. I arrived 5 minutes early and filled out paperwork. Then Wency showed me to the room (beautifully furnished) and instructed me on how to get ready. She left the room while I got dressed (I really appreciated the privacy of these moments). The whole process took 16-20 min. I thought I had good pain tolerance (I have many tattoos) but boy, did I underestimate the pain of a Brazilian Wax. Wency was very patient: she told me when to take deep breath and talked to me to distract from the pain. I felt really good after the appointment. Will be coming back in 5 weeks for maintenance! She explained what she was going to do so that I'm better prepared, making the process a lot less painful and uncomfortable compared to my previous waxes. Got me first ever Brazilian wax here! It was a great experience, Wency is amazing. She makes sure you feel very comfortable and talking to her is like talking to a friend (it distracts you from realizing she is actually waxing!) The environment is very relaxing and welcoming. I have been waxing for many years and tried many different places which left me with 1 week rashes - fun oh fun! I was looking for a place in my area and discovered Waxmi searching on Yelp. I am so glad I stumbled upon this waxing boutique. The online booking process is straightforward, the shop is immaculate and comfortable, Wency is courteous and extremely professional, and the waxing itself was painless. I didn't think I would ever consider waxing to be "enjoyable" but that's how I felt, because the results were fantastic and I did not feel uncomfortable at all. I am a person with high expectations but Wency was a perfectionist, and it shows that she cares about you and her work. I knocked one star off because of the cost. For half leg, half arm, lip, and underarms, it amounted to $110 + tax + tip. At another chain waxing boutique it would have been $70. That's a pretty significant difference. This waxing salon is owned and operated by a husband and wife team. The wife, Wenci, does all the waxing and I think her husband manages the behind the scenes stuff (never seen him at the shop). Wenci has done a fantastic job on this space. It's cute, clean, simple and super comfortable. She's always on time, but in case you're there really early or for some very rare reason, is running late, there's magazine, wifi and candy in the waiting area. She is friendly and caring - it feels like seeing a friend! And she is a fantastic esthetician. Very professional, very clean, no dreaded double dipping, and she knows exactly how to get the job done right - she is fast and efficient, leaving no hair behind, but also really smooth and relaxed, so you can feel at ease. It costs a little more to see her than some of the whole-in-the-wall places that are out there, but the experience and quality is completely worth it. (And to her credit, she's way more affordable than some of the do-it-all spas out there as well.) Don't be a cheap ass, make something as uncomfortable as waxing, enjoyable. Don't risk heaven-knows-what at those other sketchy places. read more

This is probably the most friendly and customer service-oriented waxing salon I've experienced. I've had painful and embarrassing moments in previous establishments and Yelp was right about waxmi: it's a gem. It was my first time tending my lady garden and it was the least painful waxing session I've ever had (and I wax everywhere else). Wency is a professional. She keeps you distracted and happy while she does her work. She didn't miss any spots during my session and she wouldn't hesitate touch-ups if needed. I've suffered from burns, ripped skin, missed hair and other aestheticians blaming my skin/hair/body for my injuries. None of that with Wency. I left the salon feeling happy and confident like a woman should be after grooming. I usually do not stick to one salon for waxing but I'm thinking that this small business is worth of my loyalty. Best wax place ever!! I been here for about 3 years now, I come here every time I need to get a Brazilian wax. I remember the first time I ever went here to get my first wax session, I remember feeling really anxious about my first bikini wax. She made it as pain free as possible. Waxing of course would hurt but this felt super easy and it didn't hurt when Wenci (the Esthetician) did it. Wenci is very professional and makes you feel comfortable, safe and not awkward for your first session. Also, I agree with what everybody else is saying about Waxmi. Just WOW. HANDS DOWN THE BEST WAX EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD IN VANCOUVER. I randomly stumbled across waxmi while going for lunch in the neighborhood. I have visited many different aestheticians in this city and honestly, this was a very memorable experience for me. The quality of wax that wency uses is very good. It is gentle on the skin and does not cause any pain whatsoever. Wency is AMAZING! She is gentle and skillful. It's like going to a friend's house to get your waxing done, except she knows what she's doing! Which is very important! (No hot burning wax!) If you are looking for a good hair removal experience, this is the girl to see! The prices at Waxmi are very reasonable and the studio is clean and decorated in a cool chic way. Wency uses a no double dipping technique for her wax sticks and uses high quality wax (I have crazy sensitive skin and have never gotten a reaction from her products). Wency is great!!! I've been waxing with her for over a year and a half now and I go routinely for maintenance. My first time ever was relaxing and fun- a bit painful but so fun! I remember chatting with Wency and then before I knew it, we were done! Wency has very good work and professional waxing ethics. She is a strong believer of no double dipping and using good quality wax, materials, and tools. She really cares about how you feel such as asking if you need water, heating pad on, and pretty much whatever you need! She will do a good job and will listen to the things you ask for in your service. She always asks you to check yourself afterwards and if you need something done she will gladly fix it until you are pleased. Prices are decent and I am happy every time I go! I know Wency will take good care of me. She also has these glitters that she can put anywhere on your body. We have so much fun deciding on the colours :) The store is nicely decorated, clean, and will make you feel pleasant coming in. No over the top girly/dolly environment- just a nice welcoming and homey feel but you still feel like you are going to get pampered. Overall, I would definitely recommend Wency (I have already, btw). I used to get waxed regularly at Sugarbox, but soon found it increasingly hard to justify after they raised their prices and the leaving of my favourite waxer. So I jumped onto Yelp to look for alternatives more compatible with my student-with-a-part-time-job bank account. I went here for Brazillian wax, first time ever. Wency is amazing !!! Highly recommend this waxing studio 1) the studio is so beautifully decorated and clean 2) appointment was easy to book 3) Wency's technique is very good. She knows her stuff. She will tell you when to breathe. During the wax, she will tell you the after care instructions and have conversations with you to distract from the pain ( there's hardly any pain tho ) 4) there was hardly to no pain at all !!! I didnt take any pain killers or anything. after 18-20 hours ( 1 night of sleep), you're good to go 5) Wency was very efficient, it only took 15 mins for my appointment ! read more

Let me just start by saying that Wenci is hands down the best at her job!! I have years of experience with Brazilian waxing and while I have had good and not-so-good experiences, Wenci is BY FAR the best esthetician I've ever been too! First off- the place is very immaculate and chic! She is also there to greet you and is very accommodating. An overall positive, enthusiastic vibe radiating from her which makes you at ease just walking in. The waxing experience is the best I've ever had. Bar none! She engages in conversation the whole time and is a sweet, funny woman who has you smiling and laughing the whole time which sometimes makes you temporarily forget what you're having done. Her technique is the best! Incredibly fast and thorough...she doesn't need to go over the same area over and over until it's raw. It was also the fastest job I've had to date which is another bonus. The best part which will make me a definite returning client is that she is the FIRST person ever to never leave a single errand hair behind! I looked and looked and found nothing which left me shocked since past experiences made me expect to find some. She encourages you to check her work to make sure it's completely up to your satisfaction which is also always a positive sign of a genuine person. Overall, Wenci is the real deal. Don't look any further! She is truly the best. Her price is very reasonable as well. I just moved from another province where the price for a Brazilian is much higher so I feel like I got a wicked deal especially for her work compared to others I've paid top dollar.
