Review Highlights - NYU Imaging/ Radiology

The last time I was there, I noticed a patient who was clearly upset and crying due to a delay for her sonogram, and she needed to return to work.

I don't really review medical centers etc since I work in healthcare, however it was interesting…read morefor me to see all of the bad reviews about this imaging center. They were easy to schedule with, sent me all the paperwork ahead of time, told me how much it would be ahead of time, all the things. I arrive at 1:47pm for my 2pm appointment. The CT tech came and got me as soon as I checked in. He was a great tech told me everything I needed to know. And I was out of the by 2pm - before my appointment was even supposed to start! I thought it was seamless- as long as you do your part--- fill out your paperwork ahead of time (which they message you countless times about), arrive 10-15 mins before then you should be golden.

Save your life, the worst experience I have had in my whole life at this facility and almost died…read more I went there for a cat scan and the place was packed and not enough staff and when the technician came he looked overwhelmed and started to complain how he can't do everything on his own. He took me to a small room and started to look for things in the draw and when he finally found, he injected me with saline and walked out from the room, leaving me all alone. I started to feel unwell right after that, my blood pressure dropped and I started to go in and out of consciousness, sitting in that small room with no one to help me. It was just horrifying, the energy was leaving my body and I knew that something was very wrong. At some point I saw someone passing by in front of the room and I waved for help. The next thing I saw was a doctor saying "I don't like what I see". I was so scared and didn't understand what was happening to me. I didn't realize that I went into shock. When the doctor tried to give me epi pen shot (life saver), he injected himself instead of me not once, but twice. Finally I received my life saver epi pen on a third try. He was yelling "call the ambulance for her and for me". What was really horrible like 5 people were standing in front of this room and just staring at what was happening to me. Where were they when I was left all alone in that small room? Finally the ambulance came for me and the doctor. Also, while I was in ambulance I could hear people saying that I received contaminated substance and they gave me two more epi pen shots and the shivering of my body was so bad I was never scared like that moment in my whole life. When I arrived at the emergency and they took blood right away to make sure that my organs were not damaged from contamination. It took me two months to get back in some kind of a normal. I spent the whole day until evening at emergency while they stabilized my condition. As for Lenox Hill Imaging, they never called to see if I was alive. When I called they said a few words, nobody wanted to take any accountability what happened to me. They tried to hide like it didn't happened. I requested report to see what I was contaminated with and they refused to give it to me. They were only repeating that I was given saline and they told me to talk to Compliance at their Corporate Department. The corporate was even more evasive, they were just typing what I was saying and told me that they will get back to me. They didn't, I had to call again and again they didn't say much. I realized they just want to cover this without taking any responsibility and I stoped calling them. This experience was the worst that I ever had, no accountability no sorry, they just pretended like it never happened. I went to get a cat scan and this is what happened to me. You don't get into shock from saline, it has to be contaminated. Still when I write this, I can feel how horrible this experience was and I don't want anyone else to go through this.

There are 11 floors in total and the elevators here come relatively quick. It is certainly a busy location. There will and may be times where you are waiting a while to be seen based on the type of appointment that you have as well as the time your appointment is scheduled for. Pack your patience when coming here but it is worth the wait. The quality of care is great here because the clinicians here are genuine, empathetic, and professional. I would recommend anyone who is in need of Cancer Care to come here for treatment, etc. especially if you want an alternative for the Main Campus or KOCH locations.

It is likely that you will spend the full day here, which on a good day will mean 1-2 hours behind schedule and on a bad day will mean waiting in between your services for up to 4 hours. The chemotherapy is usually overbooked and the treatment rooms are quite cramped and only partitioned by curtains. It's not my favorite place but it gets the job done and the nurses are always very kind and make sure you get enough warm blankets. Located right across from the 53rd/Lexington Av station (E/M) and two blocks away from 51st St (6) station.

They have the iPad stands that make for an easy check in and once you sign in the receptionist will reconfirm what you're there for / any other questions. I waited ~30 minutes and there were probably 10 people before me. It was super seamless and quick, and I felt like the receptionists were very communicative and helpful. One of the most seamless CityMD experiences I've had. Got my results via email around 45 minutes after. Would come back if needed.

I went to the front desk to explain my dilemma. I asked if I could go get my son quickly and return. I was told that if I did so I would have to get in line behind every person in the now crowded waiting room. I asked if I could return the following morning but was told I'd have to pay an entirely new copay. I asked if I could have my copay refunded since I never received my results and she said that was impossible since they had already taken my vitals. I asked if there was a customer service phone number I could reach out to, to which the young woman at the desk responded "for what?" (with a shrug). I asked if there was anyone in the practice I could appeal to, to which she said (with a smirk) "I'm the general manager on duty." So here I am, $75 and 90 minutes of my life lighter with no idea whether I have strep. I have no idea if this manager might have been able to pull some tiny string to help me out in my situation (though I imagine she could have) but what struck me more was her utter lack of empathy or interest in my problem or willingness to even appear to want to help me troubleshoot. To be sure, as I got more upset and desperate, she almost appeared to enjoy flexing her power in the face of my helplessness. Hooray for good customer service.
