NYU Radiology is going to feel like home in my future. I've already been for a sonogram and a CAT scan and now a MRI. I have no problem with the employees at my location. They are efficient, kind and very professional. My problem is the correspondence regarding preparation for the test and contacting my test location by phone to ask questions. I had an appointment for 11:30am scan and was told I had to be there 10:40am. All I had to remove was my bra! I was in with the cardiologist until 10:50am so it really didn't matter that I was late. I was stressed out for nothing. When I called the number I was given for radiology I didn't know I had a general employee who is in a call station. She referred me back to my location and couldn't even give me the phone number or connect me. As my treatment progresses I hope I have kind gentle care and they don't stress me out. Pretty happy with my visit here today. The woman who did my pelvic ultra sound was very nice. She was not rough at all like other radiologists I've seen in the past. I had a really terrible experience here with a virtual colonoscopy. The prep included drinking 96 ounces of fluid in 2 hours. This made me vomit blood for which I had to go to the ER as well as cancel my colonoscopy. The hospital was completely unwilling to accept feedback and went so far as to say that I was the only person in 10,000 who ever had this experience therefore their protocols will not be changing. They also rarely answer their phones so getting help or answers is similarly difficult. I definitely do NOT recommend this place. read more

Avoid the radiology department at the Atlantic Ave location like the plague. It's 40 minutes past my appointment time with no movement in sight. I'm a doctor and I've had to cancel a number of appointments already, so not only am I inconvenienced, but my patients are as well. Get it together. read more

I had an appointment in this place for angio CT Scan and I left without doing the exam. I barely said my name to the front desk a nurse appeared calling me already. I followed her inside and I noticed the place smelled poop/feces/shit and the bucket for used gown on the waiting area. The nurse asked to change into a hospital gown and wait in the waiting room area with others patient male and female with no seat for myself. When I found a sit she called me again less than 5 minutes advised I was going to have an IV medication to lower the heat rate and a contrast. My BP and heart rate were high because either I was scared or I had to walk from the subway station about 4 blocks away from the facility. They don't have an area for patient rest before or after the procedure or Dr around in the event something happens, I nearly faint so I decided to leave without the procedure. read more

This review is for the imaging location on 32nd and Lex. I had a great experience here when I came for an ultrasound recently. Check-in was quick and easy. The waiting room was spacious and not crowded, good for social distancing during the omicron surge. The entire appointment ran exactly on time, and the technician was friendly and efficient. The results were in the portal by the end of the day. I appreciated that they stayed on schedule, unlike a lot of other medical offices, and it really felt like the whole thing ran like clockwork there. If this office is an option instead of the hospital imaging location, I would recommend it. read more

I would like to add another reason why I would never use NYU radiology. Again when a doctor orders an MRI, many of them depend on an accurate report because they can't interpret the MRI image. This is in reference to a 2022 pelvic MRI in which it reflects muscles: normal, nerves: normal. If the radiologist had referred to an earlier MRI, he would have clearly seen that I have atrophy of the short external rotators on the left and that I have thick fibrous scarring adjacent to the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve causing Meralgia Paresthetica. Muscles: Unremarkable. This is copy and paste from that 2022 pelvic MRI Muscles: Unremarkable. Nerves: Unremarkable. Pelvis: Unremarkable. Subcutaneous tissues: Unremarkable. Electronic Signature: I personally reviewed the images and agree with this report. Redemonstrated scar tissue in the subcutaneous tissue adjacent to the left lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. 2023 MRI Hospital for special surgery copy and paste There is atrophy of the left short external rotator muscles status post hip arthroplasty I summary, you can clearly see that the NYU radiologist indicated "muscles unremarkable" in 2022 and that the NYU radiologist from 2018 show scarriing along the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve concern for entrapment and NYU 2019 either reflects atropy of left piriformis and quadratus femoris (both of which are 2 short external rotator muscles) and the 2023 MRI from Hospital for Special surgery reflects atrophy of the left short exernal rotator muscles status post hip arthroplasty All this lazy radiology had to do was to look at the prior studies done at his own hospital (NYU) and made the comparison. So this is one reason why I would never use MRI radiology and have cut visits to NYU only if a doctor is so good, I can't find the equivalence elsewhere. read more

This imaging radiology place is good in the terms the hours are great and they have good Devices meaning X-rays/ MRI etc which range from Imaging the head, stomach and all major body parts. I went there to get an image of my left toes. I was using other medical services in manhattan with major dissatisfaction. Anyway I waited like 20 minutes not a big wait I am far from complaining. The person who took my X-ray was very nice and professional which I totally appreciate. The The facility was clean and spotless. You can have water from the cooler which is lovely. My criticism is that the receptionist had a bit of an attitude. I asked a question she totally ignored me. I repeated myself then she had the somewhat courtesy to tell me the answer to my question which was where the bathroom was located. This is for the location on E. 41st St. I arrived on time and was seen 20 minutes early. Self-check in on the tablet was simple and convenient. The changing rooms and locker area are surprisingly nice and don't feel overly like a hospital. The staff is polite and efficient and really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The front desk person even gave me a CD of the images upon request. I appreciate it because typically you have to chase them down and never receive them. Results were in the MyChart portal the next morning. Oh, and they stay open until 9 PM which is super convenient. read more

I'd compare the CT unit to a car wash but that would be an insult to car washes. Mabel and Ivana had no humanity which yielded harrowing experience and perhaps a questionable test result which will nevertheless have to be relied upon. As we near the onset of COVID winter, mask compliance here is weak, with a number of patients having perhaps their traditional loud holiday season arguments unmasked on cell phones with family and no staff enforcing Must Mask & Mustn't Phone, even when asked to. My doctor said I need to make my own decision about going here re possible COVID exposure on 11/27/20. With even staff not adhering solidly to mask wearing, this the entire Faculty Practice Radiology Unit appears to have potential to become a Death Vortex as COVID in New York increases. I really hope it does not. At least one restroom had parts which appeared unscoured in decades. At a later point in the day (it took 3 hours instead of the scheduled 1 and 1/2) one directed me to "the cleaner bathroom. That and that alone is what merits NYU Faculty Practice Radiology Unit second star could write in much greater detail, but go enjoy it for yourself, if you'd like. read more

DO NOT use NYU Radiology. I spent 2 months moving my appointment because their billing department is disorganized. I had to call 20+ times to get an estimate for an MRI, after they billed me $1700 with insurance in 2018. I went to 150 E 32nd St, which they claimed is not billed as a hospital but I'm sure $1700 is a hospital bill. One rep says it's a hospital, the next says it's not. No one seems to know anything. This time, I kept calling to get an estimate for an MRI to avoid a huge surprise bill. Well, the estimates from $400 to $2400. I have insurance on file, but they kept sending me the self-pay rate. I had to keep asking for the insurance estimate, and it was a different estimate every time for the same CPT code. I spoke to at least 8 people, most of whom got frustrated at me because they didn't know the difference between the self-pay rate (no insurance) v. the insurance rate. Only 1 bothered to call back at 7am regularly to try to help. I often missed the call, since I get up after 8am. When I called back, there were no notes and no one has any idea what the call was about. A few times, the call dropped and the billing rep was logged into my account ALL DAY. When I called back, they said someone was working on my account and they couldn't access anything. Days before my appointments, I still wouldn't hear back, there were wrong notes on my account, and I'd have to reschedule and start from square 1 by resubmitting a request for an estimate. Finally, after calling my insurance, they recommended Carnegie Hill Radiology, which took care of the paperwork in 2 days and gave me 1 fixed reasonable rate. Not wanting to wait any longer, I cancelled my plans here and went there instead. read more

One of the worst functioning radiology centers I have ever tried to do an exam with. The insurance authorization department does not do their job and internal communication is non existent. Nobody knows how to do their job and there is so much protocol nothing gets done. Schedule your exams somewhere else. This is not the place. read more

I had a vaginal sonogram because of post menopausal bleeding. Paid $300 out of pocket, god knows what insurance paid but the incompetent sonogram technician did not get any images of the endometrium. Even my doctor was flabbergasted. But is there a person or way to complain? Nope. Terrible experience. read more

Really terrible patient care/experience. Left waiting undressed, in robes, in a hallway with other 3 patients for almost an hour without explanation. Here's the story: I arrived early for my appointment. I was told that they were running right on schedule, if not, ahead. I was advised to drink a bottle of water to ensure that I had a full bladder for my ultrasound. I was taken into a changing room about 10 minutes after my scheduled time (no big deal, things happen). I was told to undress and put on a robe, among 3 other patients and another patient's family member. We all waited in our robes in a hallway together. We weren't given any instructions beyond "undress, robe open in front, keep your belongings with you". We all stood confused for approximately 30 minutes before anyone was called in. After watching several patients go in before us (some that had arrived later than we did), another patient and I inquired about the situation. We reported feeling uncomfortable being undressed in front of others and having a full bladder for so long! We were both told "you're next". The other patient was taken in, and I waited. After another 20 minutes I had to walk around the hall to find someone who could give me information. I was told "there are other patients with more serious problems that were put in front of you". This was disheartening and unbelievable for an office that takes appointments. An ER runs like that, emergencies first, but this was a radiology dept. I asked how much longer because it was almost an hour and half and they said 5 more minutes. After that passed, I had no choice but to leave without being seen because I was already very late for work. On top of it all, the technician told me she had already opened the encounter and acknowledged the order in my chart. Which means, the billing process was started without me being seen. After leaving upset, I tried to reschedule with a different location, but I couldn't because the order was applied to that visit! My referring physician was wonderful and sent a new order. I'm still shocked and appalled by this experience. Please be mindful when scheduling here! :( read more

I had two MRIs at the 41st Street facility. Very little wait time and the staff was helpful and reassuring as I was somewhat stressed about the procedure. My one complaint, which I'm sure is not unique to NYU, is that they should invest in some better headphones that actually have some noise cancelling capacity because those machines are loud. read more

Had a prostate MRI at 41st St. location. The scheduling and receptionist were very good, but I was disappointed to see that the Radiologist who reviewed the images is not a prostate specialist, but a generalist. Studies show that the accuracy of diagnosis improves markedly with experience. You really want a Radiologist who has read many hundreds of prostate MRIs for the most accurate diagnosis. read more

NYU in general has taken a turn for the worst. From my experience yesterday, the one last Feb. at Lutheran Medical which used to be an amazing hospital and the medical office downtown last year, which I vowed never to return it is time to classify NYU as a poorly funded county/state run facility. As a result of an incident at this facility and trying to convey what transpired to the admin. asst. of the ordering physician who is truly gifted (not only highly intelligent but connects many dots whereas many physicians stay within the comforts of their medical book) I have had to drop this doctor. It's unfortunate since he is on holidays and his admin asst was not able to realize that it is unrealistic to hold their office accountable for an incident that happened elsewhere. This in itself is extremely disrespectful, insulting and as a patient see the dire need for higher education within this role which is not limited to either place but is prevalent across the board. Yesterday knowing the MTA is not reliable, I left at 6:30 am to be at this location by 7:30am at the latest. There were issues with the MTA but I arrived at 7:45am. I walked in, the welcome center with security guards were gossiping and did their job not to the fullest but told me to go the location on the 2nd Fl for the ultrasound. The staff tried to check me in and told me I needed the other floor and to take it near the vending machine. Actually it was this time I had noticed it was 7:45am. So I went down and the two security guards were still chatting. I passed the pharmacy, saw another guard, asked him and he told me without moving 2 ft. I left made another wrong turn taking a full circle where I saw another 2 guards which finally gave me the right direction. These elevators are hidden!!!!!! Finally I arrived at 7:55am. This is where the real fun started!!!! The girl which turned out to be snotty was dittling with the printer. Okay I get it and when she was finished I checked in while explaining what happened as well as what their scheduling department had assured. I would make it to work absolutely by 9am. This department opens at 7am. I noticed 2 people waiting, probably since 7am. Then another employee walks in, I think was the ultrasound technician. 30 secs later walks out, tells the snotty girl she's going down for breakfast, maybe a muffin and asking the girl if she wants anything. Really????? Then at 8:10am they call one person. I look at my watch and at 8:15am I asked how long it would take. The snotty girl says, 'about half an hour once your in.' Ummm once your in. They open at 7am, there's 2 people, I wait 20mins once checked in and finally they called 1 person. I realize I will not make it by 9am maybe 11am or noon how they run there department. I said to the snotty girl I need to go, then repeating what scheduleing told me. Meanwhile somewhere between the 1 person being called and me going up there another patient checked in. There was a vertical stand on the counter with 2 pieces of paper and my requisition was behind the first page. When I said I needed to go the snotty girl said oh you have to wait I'm checking in another patient. All she had to do was stand up and give me the paper. It wouldn't take 2 seconds and would be faster than answering a phone call. Bottom line this snotty girl didn't care and her attitude showed it. People are there for them only and the world owes them everything! Plus I had to fast for this test and had been up since 4:30am really. There's issues with blood sugar and having Celiac Disease it's hard to find food that is truly gf but this girls doesn't care. I left I passed by my doctors who is on holidays and started to tell the front desk what happened. The room being extremely quiet as always and I sounded loud when I spoke. It was 8:30am and I needed to leave to get to work, eat and take my medication. I sent my doctors admin asst. explaining what happened and why I left. Being very clear that this incident doesn't reflect how I feel about this office and staff. It did affect how she reacted to me. Absolutely. I tried to call later that afternoon for 2 reasons. To reinforce that the earlier incident does affect how I feel about my doctor or staff and second to find out if I can go to another hospital for the ultrasound. Remember the doctor is on holidays. I called and was told that she would call me back once she finished with another patient. Today I wrote her another email just to say that I had wanted to follow up. Never received an email or a telephone call. I called this evening to cancel a procedure on the 17th and to advise I would seek medical treatment elsewhere. My doctor is still on holidays. Why do we require MA to work reception but require a 9 mos to work with people's health? What's wrong with this picture. Even Canada is much better and their system is like a HMO. read more

They punished me by having me wait for half an hour while no patients were scanned. I had to leave without the exam performed. Customer service number does not return phone calls... read more

I had a really great experience getting an MRI here. The staff were very kind and went above and beyond. I arrived about 10 minutes early and was seen right away, which surprised me. The MRI itself was not as bad as I expected. They gave me headphones and played whatever music I wanted, which made the experience a lot better. They kept on checking up on me the entire time, and would tell me how long more to go. There's also lockers to keep your personal belongings. Everyone who I interacted with were extremely kind. read more

I reluctantly booked my appointment here on 30th, and walked all the way east to get here, it is really off the beaten track from the train and no good pubic transportation. So now I have arrived and they told me that they are backed up by an hour and neglected to call me! A big thumbs down, and now I realize why I gave never switched from Lenox Hill Radiology, where I have never waited more then 20 minutes. I has originally booked an 11am appt and when i called to ask for a later appt at 9am they offered me every time slot, as if they had no patients scheduled today, so seriously this place does not have their act together. Lastly, i was told to get undressed and wait in a semi public waiting room and drink water. Now I am here with my crotch naked and cold, It bas been another half hour sitting waiting, and I am still here not seen yet! read more

The rude patient intake person required me to sign a waiver that I would pay over $2000 for CT scan even after my insurance company and NYU's own patient services rep pre-approved it. Arriving and being met with this stressful situation was awful. Will not return to this location. read more

The new front staff manager at 530 1st avenue (2nd floor) was incredibly rude and inexperienced in knowing how to handle a semi-unique situation, leading to a deeply frustrating and borderline humiliating experience. To provide context to the matter at hand, I was recalled after my initial scan (for additional scans) since the radiologist doctor did not review and sign-off on my results at the time of my release. This report is of no reflection on the actual doctor and the technician who were EXCELLENT and who just wanted to make sure that I was ok. (I've had multiple surgeries, so I was grateful for their care.) Yes, it wasn't ideal to have to come back for a second round of scans, but I understood the reasons why. This report is focused on the new front desk manager who made it close to impossible to get an updated copy of the medical CD for my records when I returned to pick it up the following week. She was incredibly unprofessional and careless in trying to convince her staff that the nullified CD (which was made before the second visit..), was "correct." Eventually she came to talk to me directly with an updated CD which still reflected the earlier scan time (I gave up at that point) and was dismissive and rude and worst of all, set a poor example in front of her staff in how a patient should be treated. This is for 660 First Avenue location. The worse of the NYU labs. They lost my online registration!!! I had to fill it out once again. . I had a 4:30 appointment they took me back at 4:30. I waited in a gown in a cold room until 5 PM. I could hear all the young technicians (20s to 30) laughing and wandering around. Finally after that half an hour I found someone and asked what was happened they said we are just preparing the room. The room was ice cold as always I asked for a blanket. They strapped cameras on me before a blanket. I have had this mri before and never had additional cameras. They tied the cameras on the very spot that was swollen and jammed them down. I asked to have them moved. They kept hurting me with them. The headphones only worked on one side. Then there was obviously something wrong with the machine they never turned it on until I was lying there for at least 10 to 15 minutes. I have had many MRIS I know that the machine is supposed to go on immediately. How did I know how long it was because 4 songs played on the radio it may even have been 20 minutes. I came out 45 minutes after going in. Way too long for a simple MRI without contast. I have had this body part MRIed before and it takes from 20 to 25 minutes. The CD machine was broken and they could not give me a cd. DO NOT GO HERE. This is my third time here where things have gone really wrong. The other NYU MRI labs are normal and 200% better. read more

I've used NYU Faculty Practice Radiology several times over the past 5 years for health issues ranging from very serious (fractured skull) to fairly benign (bunions). The staff and technicians are always highly professional, engaging, and efficient. I've never experienced a wait of more than 15 minutes even when I walked in, although I recommend going earlier in the day and talking with the reception about wait times. Special recognition goes to the manager (I forgot her name but she has blonde hair and glasses and stands behind the receptionists overseeing them) who is always kind and gracious and has an excellent bedside manner. The last time I was there, I noticed a patient who was clearly upset and crying due to a delay for her sonogram, and she needed to return to work. I assumed because of the sonogram that she was experiencing pregnancy issues which (having been there myself) I know can be extremely scary and upsetting, and I felt bad that I could not support her without invading her privacy. Fortunately, the manager gently and professionally took her aside and reassured her that she could return the next day, that she herself had been in similar circumstances, and that she will get through it. I got called into the xray room at that point but was relieved that someone was caring enough in this busy hospital practice to help this patient out. read more
