Over a year later, hair colourists at other salons still make comments about the horrible dye job I have growing out. Apparently, the artist here also used metallic dye when she gave me the blotchy, botched balayage job, which is a no-no for hair, has ruined it, and has made it hard to correct the color. Not only was the hair colouring a horrible experience, but when I arrived, I very clearly remember waiting 15 minutes for the receptionist to acknowledge me while she was on the phone. Why do I remember this? Because the stylist came out finally after I was checked in and scolded me for being late! Wow, really? Then the appointment happened. It lasted HOURS because the colourist messed up and had to try again. She was ROUGH and got colour all over my face. This is when I was seriously trying not to cry. She never got it right. After the appointment, the stylist who messed up the colour offered a second appointment to fix it in the future. No thanks - I'm not reliving that experience! Icing on the cake is how over a year later stylists continue to comment on the horrible job done on the end of my hair, finally growing out. I'm thankful that it's almost all gone now and that I've found some better stylists to return to. Ultimately, I thought I was making an educated decision coming here with all the great reviews, but years later I still look back at this as one traumatic experience. Not recommended.

I can't tie up my hair, it's longer at the back than the front, and it's not in any way an asymmetrical cut. In other words, a total "F" for listening skills. I'm deeply angry with the hair stylist, who clearly didn't want to hear what I was asking for. Won't be going back any time soon - especially given how much they ask for.

While aesthetics is important, I appreciate their commitment to proper nail care. All of their products are vegan and non toxic. Their instruments are thoroughly cleaned. The salon is spacious and comfortable. The decor is modern and chic. The service is top class; Coleen and her team go above and beyond to ensure that you're 100% satisfied before leaving. There are many salons in Montreal that make you feel rushed, don't offer a relaxing experience and make salon visits feel like a chore. With Buff, that's not the case. If you're available between 11am - 4pm to patiently deal with front desk staff while they figure out how to use their systems, re-repeat your name, phone number, email, schedule and your preferred stylist (and call you repeatedly), and then find no slots for you in the next month.. this place is for you. If you feel that $70 (+tip!) warrants customer service that goes above and beyond and offers flexibility to your 9-5 working schedule **without charging a "no-show" fee after you call to say you're late and get the answering machine** then you might want to look elsewhere. To the management: I recommend a review of front desk staff policies & interactions. The two front desk staff seem more interested in Instagram than customers. PS. I was not aware that this was applicable. Yr obliged to sanitize upon entering and again upon registering which is a spray on yr hands and your given a very small cotton square with alcohol to clean yr phone if your using it. So obviously they need to sanitize the station before and after . But that fee would pay for a bottle per client. Wowow .... I was not impressed by that...

I was quite nervous due to not wanting to change much with my hair except keeping it's length and getting layers. Upon our arrival, Sam was so kind and accommodating. He made sure to make my best friend and I feel comfortable, made conversation with us, tried to get to know us, offered us tea and we got to learn about him as well. For my haircut, he made sure to listen to what I wanted and suggested some things that would look good in addition. He's probably the FIRST hairstylist who actually listened to me when I said I wanted to keep the length of my hair, but just wanted to add layers. Even though he trimmed an inch of the length, the end result of my hair was still pretty long and satisfactory. He gave my hair more life, which is exactly what I wanted. I came with my best friend, who had no intention of doing anything to her hair. She had a couple questions for him because she had some ideas of what she wanted to do to her hair in the future. Sam kindly answered them all and even managed to squeeze in a hair colouring appointment the same day, after she was convinced with his explanations of how her hair would end up looking. (She looked great at the end!) Overall, I think it's safe to speak for the both of us (my best friend and I) and say that our experience at Art's Hair Coiffure with Sam was definitely a great one & we're definitely going to come back in the future! :)

My hairdresser back home in Ontario had been doing my hair for 15yrs. She knew her products, knew her job, and had major pride in her work. I have been trying to find someone like this since I got here. I really thought this one was it. They're FB reviews are great, as is their website reviews. It took me an hr and a half to get there as they are on the south shore, and I had to take public transit. Google Maps isn't up to date on their address, so I got lost. But that's not their fault at all. I guess I should start with the fact that I made an appt over a month in advance, but no one had ever called me to confirm. So I called again that morning to make sure I would be seen. My appt was for 4pm. I after getting lost, I get there and there are 2 hairstylists working, and each are braiding hair. I sat down to wait. I was super hungry after 30 min, so I asked if I had time to go and eat, and was told I should hurry. (Total B.S). So I went to eat, got back and waited....and waited..... and waited. After an hr one of the hairstylists asked me what I was getting done, and I said relax, deep condition, style with a trim. She picked a relaxer I really didn't want, so I asked if I could choose my own. She asked what I'd like, and I stated Motions. She said ok, but never even got the box. She used her choice, even after I mentioned what I'd like. I waited 3.5 hrs for someone to work on me. I didn't leave because it had taken 1.5hrs to get there and I didn't have time to go anywhere else. This was for my wedding in a weeks time. I needed it done that day. So after all of the wait I was finally seen. She was just ok. I had to ask that she trim my hair as the last stylist I went to botched that, and I needed it to be fixed. In the end when I paid, it was $105. That's more than I've ever paid, especially for such a long wait, and a lack luster job. When I checked my email, I noted I was charged $15 to trim my ends. WHAT?? So you make me wait, and instead of having pride in your work, and making my hair look the best it could, you charged me to trim off my spit ends? B.S. AND she didn't even trim my bangs or make the left and right side match, I had to do it myself when I got home. If you're going to charge me to trim my hair, then do a damn good job. Lastly her assistant offered to drive me back to the metro. But you'd think if she offered she'd know where it is. Closest one is Bonaventure or Longueuil. She drove me all the way to D'Iberville. It took me longer to get home from the metro than it did to get to the damn salon. All in all, I will NOT be returning to this salon. My hair was pretty decent, and nice and silky. But the experience I had was extremely sub par. I am not happy at all with this place. Where are the salons that give a damn? Where is the pride in your work? Unacceptable.
