I learned that they operate completely separately and are franchised, yet the guys from the Rochester location clearly had a lot of pride in their location and the Two Men and a Truck name and were very disappointed to hear another location packed my u-pack truck the way they did. They seemed to work harder to make up for my experience in VT. They were extremely kind, friendly, worked to fix broken furniture if they could. Not to mention they were extremely efficient and finished before they estimated it would take. The manager also called and was friendly and helpful as well! I've used this company out of Philly before and had a similar experience! Highly recommend them! I will be contacting them again when I need to move next.

The move took over twice as long and was twice as expensive as originally quoted. Multiple items were left behind, and an expensive dining table was broken in the process. We had to go for the full spa treatment - they packed us, moved our stuff into storage, then move it out of storage and into our new home. The staff were all great from start to finish. The best part is that all the actual movers enjoyed each other and got along well. Imagine being a mover and having to carry a china hutch with your office enemy. Not at all an issue with Kato Moving! Were there a few issues with the move? Sure, but what move goes off without a hitch? One issue with Kato Moving is that they were not great at labeling boxes. Most boxes from the basement were just labeled "basement" despite there being five different rooms in the basement (two storage rooms, one mechanical room, one office, and one bedroom). If they had been better at labeling boxes we would have had an easier time knowing where a box went in the new home. The second issue has been a bit more costly. One of the movers took apart my Ikea bed for moving. Please know that Kato Moving insurance does not cover any particle board furniture. The problem came up when it was put together again at our new home. One of the side rails was jammed together too roughly. That has resulted in the side railing splitting and falling apart. Unfortunately that means I have to buy a whole new bed since Ikea doesn't sell parts. When moving our family motto has always been "Beds are the last thing on so they are the first things off!". If you have two trucks for moving have the furniture on one truck and boxes on the second. Request to have the furniture placed first. Then the boxes can easily go into the correct rooms.

My total bill was 3.5 times the estimate which he spent about 15 min doing despite my repeated requests for him to open closets, cupboards, etc. They changed the date they were available which meant I had to change the date for my house closing. They were to begin packing me in the AM, but didn't come until 7:30 PM cuz they "squeezed in" another job. This meant it was too late for his crew to drive to my new town much less unload me so my family had to scramble finding some things to get me through the night at new house. Turns out the movers had to leave some stuff in my old house cuz they underestimated # of trucks & employees. This gave soon to be X time to go through & take stuff out & time to add junk (like lettuce etc from frig). When they finally got there the next day, they still needed to drive back for truck with rest of stuff to bring following day! A 3 day mess! Then he asked one of my kids if their dad was a physician!! Cha-ching!! There were things scratched & broken, things that were to be moved that weren't, things they weren't able to move from patio cuz it had snowed (no mention at walk-through), etc etc. Carpets were tracked on & left a mess. I refused to pay bill at 10 PM that night cuz it was SO much higher thus wanted to go carefully through it so he sent my son in to say I had to give him check that night. Eventually sent 2 different employees in with same message. They eventually gave up & left only for him to make them turn around & come back. Joe repeatedly called & left nasty voicemails, the last of which was filled with profanity. I had to sit down the next day & write long letter to incl with check for much less than bill was for (not something I had time for during my 1st day in new house!). Sorry to ramble on, but suffice to say, this is only a portion of my experience. Wouldn't hire them under any circumstance!!!

Stay out of their way when packing though! They're quick and efficient. After the first day, I was contacted by the boss to get my feedback on how it had gone. That was an unexpected special touch. The have moved many projects including moving my grand piano when I redo my floors. Never have I had any problems, including no damage to ANYTHING. After moving my things out, they often move the new people in and we are all happy with the efficiency, friendliness, and professionalism. They help me not having to retire.
