One informed me of a weekend league that sounded like it would fit my lifestyle and be a lot if fun. Maybe we got lucky or it was a different employee not sure. Got a few drinks at the bar, which we were allowed to bring out to our lane. The only issue I had, was that there was no server for drinks where other bowling allies in the area have at least one on everyday. Overall 4/5 good experience.

This is a very family friendly venue and they've got everything from a little goat petting zoo to all the ballpark food you can think of. Having a relative that is allergic to peanuts I am so grateful that this is a peanut free facility. There are no bad seats here but some of them are more comfortable than others. Try to get clubhouse tickets during the peak summer dates as the clubhouse is air conditioned!

Swain and Boschert's goal wasn't just to open a place for recreational pinball gameplay, but also competitive pinball gameplay. Located on the second floor of an old factory building, The Sanctum is run in collaboration with the International Flipper Pinball Association. The name of the arcade is a reference to "entering the Sanctum", a feature on "The Shadow": a pinball machine adaptation of the 1994 film of the same name. The Sanctum is open every Monday night from 7PM to Midnight. It frequently hosts local leagues like the Connecticut, Rhode Island Pinball League (or "CRAP") who train to compete in regional and divisional pinball tournaments. However, customers don't need to be competitive players to gain entry. The Sanctum is open to all players (whether competitive or recreational) regardless of their age or gender. A $20 donation grants guests unlimited freeplay for the entire evening. Although food and beverages aren't served, guests may bring their own. I recently visited The Sanctum during one of their Monday night open houses. From the exterior of the old factory building, it's not obvious at all that there's a pinball arcade inside. After walking up the stairwell, and down a long winding hallway, I finally made my way to the entrance. I arrived shortly after they opened for the evening, and I felt like I was entering some sort of secret pinball speakeasy. I paid the $20 donation fee and began to explore The Sanctum's 50 machines. I was told that the machines get rotated out regularly. There was a good balance of new machines as well as classic ones. A lot of people were there to train for tournaments, but I was only interested in some old fashioned pinball fun. I had a blast! I ended up staying for almost the entire night and I probably tried just about every machine there. Some of my favorites included "Rush", "Alien", "Pulp Fiction", "The Shadow", "King Kong: Myth of Terror Island", "Godzilla" and "Evil Dead". The ceiling has been restored to its earlier appearance, which is stunning. The stage access and seating area are improved, and added to all of the good things going with it -- things like excellent management, fun productions and serious community involvement -- Landmark is truly a landmark in this area. We're delighted to have an association with it -- we've appeared in a few productions -- so maybe we are a tad prejudiced, but we firmly believe this is a really strong operation that does Thomaston and surrounding communities proud. And it just looks better and better!

One more reason to come to storrs, I can't begin to express my new found respect for puppets and…read morethe art.. before my visit to this museum today I looked at puppetry to be child's play.... least did I know one can get a bachelors degree in it. This is Storrs "hidden treasure" the Ballard institute offers workshops, museum tours, lectures, performances, and programs that promote the art of puppetry. A marvelous collection of worlds puppets are displayed in the front lobby... from a 100 yr old shadow puppet from India depicting the epics to Egyptian shadow puppets, Vietnamese water puppets, Japanese rod puppets, masks from Brazil , Italian/American/Russian marionette .... some so complex..esp the Banraku puppets as the guide was saying takes 30 years to master..wow! the two other rooms display banners, cranks and cantastoria (a theatrical form where a performer tells or sings a story while gesturing to a series of images painted, printed on fabric or any material)....The tour was totally worth it, I learnt so much today. I'm definitely returning to watch a show here. They have shows scheduled almost every weekend this summer... check out the schedule on their website.
