WORST EXPERIENCE-avoid at all costs! They bombarded me with calls and so I agreed to let them review my property tax. Shortly after that we needed to sell, so I probably had several DOZEN phone calls to let them know to cancel, only to be stuck with offshore people who waste your time and do nothing. I finally got a call that they were going to appeal the arbitration decision and told them that I no longer own the property. I got a letter confirming my cancellation as of 10/1, then they get an appeal decision 10/9 and try to bill me. No I have some joker attorney chasing me for a property I don't even own. Scam artists ,AVOID AT ALL COSTS. NEVER EVER check your property value on their portal. I accidentally entered my property details on their website and heard nothing from them. Then, three years later, they sent me a bill for $650. When I tried to speak with them, they demanded $650 plus additional fines and proceeded to file a small claims court case against me. I appeared in court, but they did not, so the case was postponed. When I appeared a second time, the judge ruled against me solely because they claimed under oath that they had provided the service. As a result, I was ordered to pay $650, but nothing more. The judge casually mentioned that I could appeal, but at this point, I am exhausted from the whole process. AVOID. AVOID. This company is an absolute scam, and I am in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. We signed up for their service with the clear understanding that we did not want to continue after the first year. Despite this, they continued to auto-charge us for additional years even after we canceled. To make matters worse, we were invoiced for properties we do not own--some of which belong to relatives. They later placed liens on several of our rental properties based on an alleged savings amount of approximately $1,100, then added an additional $3,400 in so-called "attorney and other fees," bringing the total claim to $4,500. The company claims they sent letters to our home and that someone attempted to deliver a certified package for signature regarding an overdue invoice. This is completely false. At no point did anyone from this company call my wife or me. We had no knowledge of any lien or judgment until the day of closing, when the $4,500 claim surfaced unexpectedly. I attempted to resolve this by calling multiple times and speaking with customer service, requesting to speak directly with the attorney who filed the lien. None of my calls were returned. I strongly advise others not to use this company. Their billing practices, lack of communication, and willingness to perform fraudulent services without proper notice are completely unacceptable. read more

Last year I used Ownwell....After receiving a bill from O'connor for over $800 - I realized that NO ONE ever brought up the fact that they charge 50% of the savings...CRAZY! At times, they got very mild property appraisal reductions. The form that I had on file with the county expired in 2015. Oconnor several times tried to get me to update a form 50-162. They said they had been requested by the county for updated forms. I never did. They continued to try to represent me during the pandemic. The valuations in my area started rising so fast that the 10% cap protected me until the year. They claimed a small reduction this year. I never signed the current forms on file with the county. As a real estate broker, I have a broad knowledge of the system and how property tax appeals work. I cannot imagine how this company makes a single dime. I hired them because I did not have time in 2022 and 2023. Both years, I either got no reduction or a slight reduction in MARKET value only. So, I fired them, sent an email, and said I withdraw consent to appeal my taxes. I got a response that said, "Sorry to see you go." This year, I sent in my appeal and guess what....I received an email a few weeks later from P. O'Connor stating that they had attended my formal hearing, resulting in only a slight reduction in market value. I took the 'you're fired ' email to the appraisal district as proof that they did not have the right and rescheduled. I did my appeal and reduced my TAXABLE value by $85,000. It's a SCAM. read more

I protested my taxes with this company and the hearing was on July 3. It is over three months after the hearing and I have heard nothing back from the company. I protested my taxes on my own for years, and heard back right away of the results, but I heard this company could do a better job, and I would very much disagree. I call every month to see the status only to be reassured that by the end of the month they will get back to me and they don't. When I call and ask to speak to a supervisor I am put on hold and nobody comes to the line. read more

I bought a house a year ago and contacted O'Connor about appealing. Taxes went down $12 and then they sent me a bill for almost $130 based on estimated savings even though the appraised value of the house stayed the same and tax rate dropped. I don't think I should owe more than $12. read more

I was finally contacted by someone in the Houston Office who was able to look at my account, and correct my bill. It took me about a month, and many promises by overseas operators, to finally be contacted by Houston. Previous post: I have used them for many years and was happy with their service, until this year when my wife turned 65, and most of our taxes were frozen. The invoices that they sent (2 so far) were both far more than our taxes went up, and it has been impossible to speak to a United States based representative to discuss the issue. The email that I sent with documentation of my past and future taxes had my attachment stripped from the email so the foreign agents could not see it.
