They performed tax work that was not authorized. They did not ask for approval. They were extremely deceptive in how they billed me for the unapproved, unauthorized work. When I confronted them about this they were very rude and claimed they could bill me for anything they wanted because I had given them authorization to work on my behalf. They claim to not need approval from me and said they would continue unless I revoked, with the state, their authorization to work on my behalf. I have filed an official complaint against the company with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. read more

After writing about my bad experience I was directly contacted by someone from O'Connor committing to contact me and resolve the issue. It's been a full month-no one has contacted me. This is consistent with my experience. They will call you and call you with young, unsophisticated offshore telemarketers, but will not respond if you have an isse. read more

I've been using O'Connor since 2021 and I've only had one successful tax protest reduction, through operation of law (Texas rate cap), not by the ability of O'Connor & Associates to effectively challenge appraisals on my property. Between 2021 and 2026, it seems they have fully migrated from a U.S. team, to full Indian team. I have not been able to contact anyone who is well informed of tax laws or can speak English clearly. I would recommend an alternative protest management service provider. read more

absolutely horrible company. They have shipped all their customer service overseas. For the year 2025 they completely dropped the ball on my appraisal. They didn't save me a dime and so going forward I have to contest with a much higher starting valuation. If only I had read the yelp reviews first. I do appreciate your second response. Calling your company 7 times my calls were answered by foreign speaking customer service people. When trying to ask to speak to someone in Houston is not possible. They will not transfer you without knowing the entire story and getting all your information and seeing if they can help you even after you tell them they can't. read more

Just horrible. They received my notice to cancel my service this year, confirmed receipt, then did it anyway. I meant to represent myself and provide photos of interior of my house and others but was unable to because they already negotiated--without my photos. I have called and emailed and sent comments/requests thru chats with no resolution. My property is worth far less than recent sales because interior has not been updated like the other comparable houses. read more

These guys are scam artists. I simply filled out my address to get an estimate and then heard nothing for 6 months. Now they are spam calling me and emailing me saying I owe them $434.33. I have 850 credit and am not risking collections over 400 bucks and they know this. Absolute disgrace especially to do this to an active duty Military Officer. Scam artists ,AVOID AT ALL COSTS. NEVER EVER check your property value on their portal. I accidentally entered my property details on their website and heard nothing from them. Then, three years later, they sent me a bill for $650. When I tried to speak with them, they demanded $650 plus additional fines and proceeded to file a small claims court case against me. I appeared in court, but they did not, so the case was postponed. When I appeared a second time, the judge ruled against me solely because they claimed under oath that they had provided the service. As a result, I was ordered to pay $650, but nothing more. The judge casually mentioned that I could appeal, but at this point, I am exhausted from the whole process. AVOID. AVOID. This company is an absolute scam, and I am in the process of reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. We signed up for their service with the clear understanding that we did not want to continue after the first year. Despite this, they continued to auto-charge us for additional years even after we canceled. To make matters worse, we were invoiced for properties we do not own--some of which belong to relatives. They later placed liens on several of our rental properties based on an alleged savings amount of approximately $1,100, then added an additional $3,400 in so-called "attorney and other fees," bringing the total claim to $4,500. The company claims they sent letters to our home and that someone attempted to deliver a certified package for signature regarding an overdue invoice. This is completely false. At no point did anyone from this company call my wife or me. We had no knowledge of any lien or judgment until the day of closing, when the $4,500 claim surfaced unexpectedly. I attempted to resolve this by calling multiple times and speaking with customer service, requesting to speak directly with the attorney who filed the lien. None of my calls were returned. I strongly advise others not to use this company. Their billing practices, lack of communication, and willingness to perform fraudulent services without proper notice are completely unacceptable. read more

I will not be recommending O'connor and I REALLY wish that I had looked at the reviews before signing up with them. Last year I used Ownwell....After receiving a bill from O'connor for over $800 - I realized that NO ONE ever brought up the fact that they charge 50% of the savings...CRAZY! I KNOW for a fact that it literally takes them 5 minutes to gather all their information on the home using an app on their system. At times, they got very mild property appraisal reductions. The form that I had on file with the county expired in 2015. Oconnor several times tried to get me to update a form 50-162. They said they had been requested by the county for updated forms. I never did. They continued to try to represent me during the pandemic. The valuations in my area started rising so fast that the 10% cap protected me until the year. They claimed a small reduction this year. I never signed the current forms on file with the county. Yasi Ghadiminejad came to view 2 of my properties to make a critical inspection of the property conditions prior to the official protests on the properties. She is friendly and has a keen eye for the defects associated with our properties. She took pictures and made a thorough inspection and also gave some good advice. I feel she has made a difference in our protest outcome and the time was worth it. I would recommend her to anyone interested in having this kind of close up inspection. As a real estate broker, I have a broad knowledge of the system and how property tax appeals work. I cannot imagine how this company makes a single dime. I hired them because I did not have time in 2022 and 2023. Both years, I either got no reduction or a slight reduction in MARKET value only. So, I fired them, sent an email, and said I withdraw consent to appeal my taxes. I got a response that said, "Sorry to see you go." This year, I sent in my appeal and guess what....I received an email a few weeks later from P. O'Connor stating that they had attended my formal hearing, resulting in only a slight reduction in market value. I took the 'you're fired ' email to the appraisal district as proof that they did not have the right and rescheduled. I did my appeal and reduced my TAXABLE value by $85,000. It's a SCAM. read more

I protested my taxes with this company and the hearing was on July 3. It is over three months after the hearing and I have heard nothing back from the company. I protested my taxes on my own for years, and heard back right away of the results, but I heard this company could do a better job, and I would very much disagree. I call every month to see the status only to be reassured that by the end of the month they will get back to me and they don't. When I call and ask to speak to a supervisor I am put on hold and nobody comes to the line. read more

These guys absolutely suck. DO NOT use them. I gave them research on my property that proved that TCAD (Travis County) had inflated the tax appraisal by at least $600K and they got a whopping $28K reduction. My neighbors....who did their own hearings with the SAME DATA all got reductions of at least $500K. If I could give negative stars for this company I would. read more

I bought a house a year ago and contacted O'Connor about appealing. Taxes went down $12 and then they sent me a bill for almost $130 based on estimated savings even though the appraised value of the house stayed the same and tax rate dropped. I don't think I should owe more than $12. read more

There are companies that do this service FOR FREE. 50% is a ridiculous fee, when this is literally a one form process Plus, when you cancel, they conveniently never process the cancellation, then charge you again the next year and follow through with lawyers They actually have a whole department of lawyers just for collecting, which tells you something about how they operate AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! read more

I moved here June of 2025 the process was easy. I honestly do not have any complaints anytime I need something to be worked on I submit it online and maintenance is out and ready to resolve what needs to be fixed. Office staff is very nice when you come in the office they are always nice. Good with notifications to keep us updated with any changes. read more

First they did not file the protest paperwork. I went in on the last day to check because I didn't trust that they had. Nope, they did not file. Then we got a notice that the hearing was finalized. We have been calling for 20days to find out if our taxes had been reduced. Finally went to the tax office and our taxes had been RAISED!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

This year was no different except that O'Connor is trying to bill me for my own efforts. You try to explain it to them and they don't care. Their approach and tone was obviously condescending and it became clearly obvious to me that they would not be a good fit for me to do business with. I just received a call from this company claiming that I hired them to handle my property tax appeal since 2022. #1 - never heard of them before and researching online to see if they are scammers. Seeing 1 star reviews here, they definitely are not legit. #2 - they claimed that I signed a retainer in 2022 that they will email to me. Never received it. Definitely scammers! #3 - if I hired them in 2022, where were they for last 2 years?? Run and do not share your info if you receive a call from them. Horrible service. The company achieved zero results and showed zero attention to detail in our case which cost us considerable money. Client beware. After a home fire and the appraisal district reducing my property value, O'Connor is charging me for the reduction. I provided documentation to O'Connor 3 months ago disputing charges. Multiple call to O'Connor with promises to resolve plus to have a manager call have never come to fruition. I only get a call regarding my invoice and when will I pay it. I have been a client for over 10 years, and they clearly are only focused on billing not customer service or satisfaction. read more

Obviously they suck. Didn't help at all. No communication, no reduction, didn't even attend the hearings.

I used O'Connor & Associates for several years and found them very efficient and effective. I was very happy with them.
