Really great hole-in-the-wall liquor store which because of their selection makes it feel very exclusive. Probably the best selection of rare, artisanal craft brews in Worcester. However great their craft brew selection is, they are more focused on fine wines with the obligatory 40oz and macro-brew selection in the walk-in cooler. Before I forget they also carry a decent craft spirit line from Scotches to Tequilla and Vodka. Tell your friends; they deserve to know. read more

I have since moved into the neighborhood and find myself frequenting this liquor store over the majority of others. The location is a little challenging, being as it is in the middle of an intersection and no lights directed at the parking lot itself. There is parking and the store itself isn't large, but they have a decent variety. Also the size makes it easier to get in and out quickly. My boyfriend's preferred cider is consistently found here and I enjoy the diverse selection of micro brews they carry. Neither one of us are wine drinkers, so I cannot speak for the wine selection. The employees here are always pleasant and available for questions or recommendations. read more

If you happen to accidentally pass Greendale discount liquors, barely 3 blocks up the street, you can swing in here for a more selection on wine, Higher prices, less selection of regular beers, and a bunch of tiny batches of micro brews .. and mixers/chasers super jacked up in price, by comparison. Even the bottom of the barrel champage was $7 a bottle. They will grill the hell out of your drivers license,.. I let my last one expire and walked in on my birthday - they wouldn't take it even though my 21st birthday was so long ago that it was almost an insult rather than a compliment to be carded. Ehh. Sorta sucks getting in and out of this place even if you park out front , and not forced to park in the back of the narrow lot. read more

There are a couple things every package store should have: 1. A walk-in cooler 2. A good selection of beers in said cooler. It is really that simple. O'hara's has these two necessities locked down. Nowhere in town will you find a more diverse selection of cold frosty brews not to mention the resident craft brew guru obviously loves his job and will help you find anything you are looking for. Great small spot to pick up some craft brews. They have a decent bottle selection and they have recently introduced me to Lion Stout so I can make really great beer floats. It may sound crazy, but they're delish! They also have wine, it's an OK selection. We bought some local whiskey for a friend that was barrel selected by the owner. Our friend raved about it! read more

Had a terrible experience there. Here is the story: I recently moved to MA from NY, haven't gotten a MA license yet (because technically I need to live here for 6 months before I can request one). Usually my NY ID is not a problem. I have been to places that have signs on the door that say "We do not accept out of state IDs" - I totally understand that and when I encounter that I turn around and go somewhere else. This place has no such sign, in fact I have purchased from this place before on multiple occasions with no issues. BUT this time what the man at the checkout line did was unacceptable. He flat out accused me of handing him a fake ID, in front of another employee and 3 customers. I was so shocked I wasn't sure how to respond. So I said "I know NY IDs look much different than MA ones but here I'll show you copies of my passport and birth certificate to verify my name and birthday. So after examining those for a good minute he still accused me of lying... I am a 26 year old working professional trying to buy a bottle of wine after a hard days work.... if he had said "Sorry we don't accept out of state ID's" - that would have been fine.... but to accuse me of forgery in front of customers is just inappropriate and a poor example to set for their business. read more

Much better than a 'hole in the wall', it's just tightly quartered! Great selection of wine as well as beer, all top quality stuff. Well organized wine displays and seems quite strong in French ones. Six stars....Honestly, I would have paid more for my house if I knew this place was within walking distance. I've been a wine geek since my first job out of school, and this is without question the best wine store I have ever been to. They taste all of their wines and even age them before putting them up for sale if deemed necessary. Every Friday, O'Haras has FREE wine tastings, and they don't skimp on what they pour. There are typically around eight, carefully selected wines to taste, and the owner, Jim, knows his wine.
