Camping grade watercolors for water dispenser, simple diner style silver wear and plastic dishes. A salad that does not deserve its name. Minimal staff. I had a glas of Eclipse which tasted delightful, similar to grocery store wine at this price. Do yourself a favor and skip this one for now! There are much better wineries available in Iowa. It appears ownership is trying to safe everywhere! Noteworthy: It's 3/4 mile gravel to the property. To no fault of their own, the gnats & bees were out swarming outside, so seating outside diverted us inside. But when we moved to inside we got to enjoy a larger bundle of unruly kids in a small room.

They told us that we needed to stop by Barrel Head Winery because it was the best winery they visited on their route. We took their advice and we were so glad we did! Upon arrival, we noticed that they were closed, but the owners, John and Kathy Burns, opened their doors for us. They not only did they open for us, but they took time to give us a tour and let us taste their amazing wine. John & Kathy did not charge for tastings, unlike many of the other wineries, which is a PLUS in my book! We are not wine connoisseurs, but John and Kathy helped us learn a thing or two about what to look for in a good wine. We spent a good two hours at their establishment and it was the most fun we had all weekend. My husband and I will be life long customers of Barrel Head Winery.
