    Popper Patty Melt

Very friendly service on this Saturday after visiting the Field of Dreams. Big taproom with lots of space. There was a private event going on but we could still come in and eat. The appetizers we had were the friend pickles and the cheese curds. The cheese curds were DELISH and had a mulberry dipping sauce that made it exceptional. The Popper Patty Melt/burger was really good. I enjoyed their style of burger patty and would definitely recommend it!

A recent addition to the Dyersville food and brewery landscape, and I thoroughly enjoyed my initial visit last night! Sports-themed with a lot of versatility, 7 Hills West is located just west of 9th Avenue SE (main road into Dyersville from Hwy 20) and only four miles & maybe 10 minutes south of the Field of Dreams Movie Site. Was crowded on this night, yet all service flowed well. I would describe it as a restaurant, bar, arcade, bowling alley, and event venue. Great murals by a local artist dominate its eastern wall and add so much to the interior. It can likely accommodate at least 150 in-person dinings and includes an outdoor deck area with firepits shortly being added, and an event area in one corner of the property. I enjoyed the "Illegal Use of Hands" appetizer, a unique combination of tater tots and onion strings that usually includes queso but I didn't want the cheese. The main dish was the "Hometown Hero" burger which was ground beef, bacon, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun with tasty fries. Nice going, Chef Brandon. Loved the bowling alley contained within the property & it had a league going on! People were having fun. The big arcade room is connected also. Their bar features craft beers and is open until 11 PM most nights. Excellent customer service by my server (Cindy), and enjoyed my chat with their GM Sonny. I envision this as a popular stop for locals and a superb option for tourists and Field of Dreams tournament participants.

Really enjoyed the brisket burgers. And a side salad was very fresh. I very much recommend this place.

I guess it's just part of the local charm. They have a full bar which was nice. The horchata was interesting super cinnamony and it looked a little like they forgot to give it a good stir. The chips were sadly stale, but the salsa definitely made up for it! It had a fantastic kick. Our server was a bit overwhelmed, and he actually missed my son's order entirely. We ended up with three steak tacos with rice and beans on the side they don't do combo platters, which was a bit unusual. The tacos themselves were delicious though, with skirt steak! The rice and beans were great too. He eventually got my son's choriqueso chicken order in, super fast, but then there was a little tortilla mix up we asked for corn, got flour. To be honest, with the heat, the flies, and everything, we just wanted to get out of there at that point. The choriqueso chicken was okay, but the chorizo could have used a little more cooking time it had a slightly off flavor. We also grabbed two shrimp cocktails, and those were fantastic! They could have been a bit colder, but the flavor and the amount of shrimp were amazing, and the avocado was perfect. Overall, the food was pretty good, but honestly, I'd recommend takeout next time. It was just too hot and buggy to enjoy eating in! They really need to do something about those flies!

Mixteca Mexican Restaurant - Dyersville, IA…read more Met up with friends for dinner tonight and had a great experience at Mixteca. We got there around 5:30 and the place was maybe a quarter full--perfect for settling in without a rush. Our friends joined shortly after, and from the get-go, the service was friendly and attentive. The chips and salsa hit the table first and made a strong impression. The salsa was fresh, full of flavor, and not runny like you get at some places. Chips were crisp and clearly fresh--not the bottom-of-the-bag stuff. Three of us ordered fajitas and they did not disappoint. Big portions, sizzling hot, and packed with flavor. You could tell they weren't cutting corners. By 6:00 the place was filling up fast, but even as it got busy, the staff kept everything running smoothly. We never felt forgotten or rushed. All in all, a solid spot if you're craving Mexican food. Great portions, good atmosphere, and excellent service. Definitely recommend giving it a try.

My son had the meat lovers skillet and it was a generous portion. My Reuben was delicious but I noticed it was sliced deli meat-like. It came with a side salad or soup. I chose the salad, iceberg lettuce, cheese and tomatoes. I asked for blue cheese, which came in a little capped container labeled BC. It was really yellow and kind of gelatin like. I decided to pass on it as I'm used to which blue cheese and didn't want to risk getting sick. The coffee was a fabulous light roast, not at all bitter. I was able to enjoy it black. The prices seemed a bit high for my sandwich. The bill for 2 lunches, coffee and a soda came to roughly $35. I saw they do charge 3% furnishing a credit card so I just left cash on the table. The food was okay but honestly, we could have eaten at Texas Roadhouse (early menu) for about the same price and I would have had leftovers for the next day. Even though the food was okay, we probably won't be back due to the value of the meal.
