So, I raced over Sunday morning and found the photo and then found myself browsing what turned out to be a great antique store for the first time. Get in there if you haven't been! They have everything from childhood photos of my brother to an English Springer Spaniel art serving tray, to two vintage novelty neckties (Christmas theme and New York City theme). It's my number one shop in Lexington, and probably my number one shop. Period. They have a huge inventory that changes daily and an amazing Instagram feed full of good finds (act quickly, sometimes things sell in seconds). You can visit over and over and will always see something new. This is high level stuff, and the prices reflect that, but there are also many modestly priced pieces, and everything is fairly priced. Ms. Hannah and the staff there are just genuinely good people. They're very knowledgeable about what they have in the store, but more importantly they're welcoming and helpful without ever being pushy. You can tell they really enjoy what they do and take pride in the shop. One of the best things about this place is the inventory. It's incredibly diverse and always changing. Every time I look at their social media or stop in, there's something new. It makes it hard not to keep coming back just to see what treasures have shown up since the last visit. Everything is well curated and displayed in a way that makes it easy and fun to browse. You can wander around for a long time and keep spotting things you didn't notice the first pass. And the prices are very fair for the quality and uniqueness of the items. Their social media is actually what brought me in the door in the first place, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I was driving from Nashville to Cincinnati and picked Frankfort as a place to get out of the car and walk for an hour. Not one to resist a craft store, I decided I could pop in for a minute or two. I perused the store for over an hour and left with $400 worth of merchandise. Completely Kentucky is, in my opinion, the best crafts store in the US. This is not a store where you go to "get a deal." The merchandise is priced so the artists can be decently compensated and the store can keep its lights on. That means not cheap. But coming from the left coast, I thought the prices were very reasonable. When it comes to wood and clay crafts, Kentucky knocks it out of the park. But this store features artists working in every manner of medium. Their commitment to providing a spot to as many Kentucky artists and crafts people as possible is impressive. I love this store. The day after I discovered them I started saving for my next visit. My goal is the have minimum $1000 to spend and to also bring along an empty suitcase so I can get all my loot back home. :)
