I was invited to have dinner at the Oak Cove Resort and was thrilled to attend. Having lived in the Paw Paw/Lawton area for 30 years, I have driven by their sign, saw their ads, but literally had no clue what to expect. From the moment we pulled in and drove down the long drive towards the resort, I knew I was in for special evening. It felt like I had awaken in a different age and time. The lodge is over 100 years but beautifully maintained. Eating on the front enclosed porch was a delight and so peaceful to look at beautiful Lake Cora. My mind kept wandering to what this area was like back in the 1920s when there were 2 resorts on Lake Cora and a train that brought people from the Chicago area. What a magical time that must have been. Bob and Susan are delightful hosts. They love Oak Cove and it shows in all the lovingly details throughout. Antiques are plentiful in every room, old photos and newspaper clippings that have been framed are hung on the walls. It's like walking into a time capsule. Touring the Lodge I kept saying this is so cool, I love this, how adorable. Every room is unique and special. Dinner at Oak Cove Resort is amazing. Everything is prepared and cooked in their kitchen and a lot of the items are from scratch. We started the evening off with a salad from the most unique salad bar ever - an old antique bed, covered with a beautiful quilt, and topped with a glass panel that holds all the delicious salad fixings. The lettuce was very fresh, a huge amount of toppings to chose from, and lots of different dressings. Monday night is Roast Beef night and Bob serves up the tenderest roast beef that I have had. The slice was just perfect for me. Mashed potatoes with homemade gravy (no words can describe how delicious this is), and helping of peas, and dinner roll. You can also add a dollop or two of horseradish sauce. If that wasn't enough, dessert was a chocolate brownie with ice cream. I literally thought I was in heaven. On top of that the coffee was just how I like it. We then walked around the resort. The Funhouse, filled with old arcade machines, books, puzzles, card table, TV, and bar, would definitely be fun place to hang out. The in-ground pool was very clean and is a big. The beach area had Adirondack chairs set up to sit and relax. Individual cabins are scattered through the grounds, along with a huge area for kids to run and play. What a memorable evening. My next to-do is to book an evening or two at the Oak Cove and transport myself to another time where life seemed slower and simpler. read more

Oak Cove is a great place to visit. It is so peaceful to sit outside your cottage or alongside the beach part and play in the lake. My three little ones loved being in the lake and swimming pool. Bob and Susan are lovely. This resort is a throwback to a time when life seemed less complicated. Wind down, put down your devices and enjoy Oak Cove and everything it has to offer. We stayed in Aunt Nell's and were very happy with our accommodations. The kids in our family enjoyed volleyball, the pool and of course Lake Cora. The meals were lovingly planned and served by both Bob and Susan. The roast beef dinner was delicious! All the food exceeded my expectations. We were very fortunate to stay here and had a group of 30. It was an amazing place to have a reunion. I feel like we found a well kept secret and I'm more than happy to share our find. - menu doesn't reflect what is online - beds are the most uncomfortable, like sleeping on plywood - WiFi doesn't work 90 % the time, don't count on it - bugs often found frozen in the ice served - owners are very nice but ignorant as to the multi-cultural and diverse world we live in today - shower accommodations are very small - toilet usage resulted in many guests hitting the countertop with knees because the quarters were so cramped - not a lot of variety or variance in breakfast menu - pontoon boat has seats that are all ripped up and nasty, not worth the hefty rental fees - a/c window units and hot water tank are very loud at night - owners will not fix/repair broken things during your stay - stained bedding is used - be mindful that it's definitely not barrier free - they do not allow animals, not even assistance dogs - linens are cheap and they don't give you much, despite the length of your stay, unless you go and turn in old ones for new ones, which they don't properly inform you of - many things need repair or replacement - there are inconsistencies between information given in cottages vs the website vs verbal information - only about 1/4 of the gaming machines in the Fun House works (bring quarters for the three machines that work and the pool table) - no bathroom in the Fun House - toilets didn't all flush and run properly - doorknobs came off in our hands - bathroom sinks didn't drain, we had to remove the stopper and leave it out - everything is made with well water, even mixed beverages so if you aren't used to that it can give you stomach and bowel issues, as it gave many in our party - windows and such were not properly sealed and one cottage had a continual problem with wasps getting inside - on the website The Lake House is listed under fully equipped house with a kitchen, it does NOT have one, just the microwave and mini fridge + lake is very clean and enjoyable to swim in + golf course provided entertainment + they offer celebrations for birthdays with a small cake and singing + spacious yard with tether ball, volleyball net, shuffle board (crack down middle though), and horseshoes with enough room to bring your own bags game or kanjam, etc + staff and owners are friendly with good intentions to have you enjoy your stay + the pool is a nice choice when the lake becomes too shaded later in the day, due to shade from the trees + fire pit is nice to enjoy in the evenings + there is a charcoal grill on property for cooking your own lunch + waitstaff ladies are very friendly and sweet, particularly Daelynn and Chloe Conclusion - Not as advertised. Needs refurbishing. Based on reviews we were all expecting something much different. Definitely not worth the money. None of us will be back, nor would we ever recommend it to others. Time for the owners to retire and sell it to someone else that can actually keep it up and run the place proper. If you do go, a long weekend is probably the longest you'd ever want to stay. Do not recommend staying in the cottages. The Lodge seemed much nicer when we looked at it, we didn't see the houses. On rainy and cold days we enjoyed the casino, chocolate shops, and wineries. Rainbow Bowling alley left much to be desired as our lanes kept malfunctioning. read more

We flew our family from San Diego and Pasadena for a family getaway to Oak Cove Resort. In the end, my wife's entire family also came from Pennsylvania and Michigan. We had a wonderful time playing in the lake! Even better our hosts made it seem as we were part of the family. My grandchildren got to see their first fireflies and we made marshmallows at the nightly campfire. Glad and happy memories were made. I highly recommend Oak Cove. Be prepared to let out a notch in your belt buckle. The food was amazing and the servers were so sweet. I wish I could remember all their names. but they were special. Some of the young ladies were queens and princesses for the Van Buren County Youth Fair. They wore their crowns to dinner one evening and my granddaughter. The children went to the fair that evening and had a great time. EVERYONE knew our names after the first dinner. It was just so personal. My wife and I stayed in the cottage on the edge of the lake. Other than the sloping floor :-) the cottage was wonderful. We could walk out and into the lake. Heaven on earth! Bob and Susan fielded my 10,000 questions. Things as minute as where we could get beach towels. Bob said not to worry they would take care of it. I would give Oak Cove a 10. read more

We just returned from a family reunion at Oak Cove. What a wonderful,quaint, clean, friendly atmosphere. The food was very, very good and the staff made special food for the family members who needed gluten free. What a blessing! There are plenty of activities to choose from both inside and out. It was quiet, peaceful and we wish we could have stayed longer. The young staff were courteous, attentive and seemed very comfortable interacting with all ages. A great experience! read more

We had our family reunion at this resort last weekend with about 30 people, and everyone loved the place. Susan and Bob are absolutely wonderful. The food was excellent. Nobody had to worry about cooking or getting food, which made that part less complicated. I enjoyed every meal. The lake is very clean and not too crowded. We enjoyed the game room to gather. Our cabin was very nice. There was plenty of activities for kids and adults. The cost is reasonable. I highly recommend Oak Cove!! read more

Our extended family of 21 people had a wonderful family reunion Memorial weekend and as the young ones say, "It's better than Christmas".

We have been coming here for three years and it is one of the highlights of our summer. We have a 6 year-old son who has a blast there. He loves to swim so we bounce between the pool and the lake. Playing King of the Hill on the platform is also a favorite. There are always a lot of kids there for him to make friends with. They spend time building in the sand, chasing the minnows and looking for snails. The food is excellent and the accommodations nice. We have always stayed in the larger homes farther back on the property instead of the smaller cabins by the lake. My wife likes having a washer and dryer. The game room is another fun place. We always spend a few bucks playing pinball after dinner. read more

I was so surprised that there wasn't a yelp review on this place that I had to write one. I came here over the summer with my little sister for a small sister getaway. This place is so cute and the owners are adorable and work hard to know everyone's names and make you really happy. This is a place you go for a couple of days to get away from everything. It has everything you need: bicycles, row boats, kayaks, pedal boats, volleyball, lawn chairs, game room, etc. You can just lay out in the warm sun by the perfect little lake, and relax. Then when you hear the dinner bell you know that a delicious and hearty dinner awaits you. It's a gem of a place, and we didn't want to leave, but I had to get back to work. We stayed in the pink room, which had two really comfortable beds that would be perfect for sisters or friends(their mattresses are PERFECT). The shared bathroom wasn't a problem for us, there were 2 right across from our room and I never had to wait even though the resort was full that weekend. Only thing is that the water temperature was hard to control, however that didn't detract from the perfect time we had there. read more

We love Oak Cove Resort! The staff is SO friendly. The food is wonderfully homemade. And the grounds are beautiful and well kept. The resort is situated on a gorgeous lake called Lake Cora. My family has been coming to this resort for over 20 years. It is everyone's favorite week of the year. Susan and Bob are always so friendly and we love it here. It's the perfect destination for a big family gathering. The kids have freedom and wholesome fun and the adults get to relax. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more
