Sunny Brook Stables is an oasis in the middle of Marietta, a bit of a hidden magical farmland gem…read moreamidst urban hustle and bustle. As soon as you step onto the property, you automatically exhale, the body naturally relaxes and a big smile spreads across your face.  My 4 year old recently attended the Sunny Brook Stables Spring Camp and had an absolute blast. Not only is the farm setting, with the 14 horses, clucking ducks and chickens, munching goats and pot bellied pigs incredibly idyllic, but the people working there are also all so wonderfully warm and welcoming! My 4 year old quickly bonded with her camp counselor Trinity who is full of bubbles of laughter, warmth, enthusiasm and joy! My daughter has been constantly talking about her experiences there since and repeatedly asking to return. She attended on the recommendation of an older friend, and we're so happy we listened. You'll find that if you go on our recommendation, you too will soon be highly recommending it to others!

I was attempting to find a job at a stables somewhere because I love horses. I probably reached out…read moreto 20 stables but Sunny Brook was the only one that responded. Dr. Holman was very kind and considered and interviewed me. She took time out of her busy schedule to interview me and watch me ride, even though she didn't really need assistance. I didn't end up working there but I was thoroughly impressed with her incredible horsemanship skills. Small stable, and maybe not the best for birthday parties, but a kind staff and beautiful horses.

I agree with most of the negative comments already listed. My experience started out positive but…read moredeclined rapidly due to poor communications and, more importantly, leadership's refusal to put any thought or effort into my needs as a new rider. Make no mistake, this barn is in it to maximize its revenues. After my introductory lesson period was over, they informed me that my cost would double and my lesson time reduced by half (from 1 hour/lesson to 30 minutes) which effectively resulted in a cost 4 times higher per lesson. They assign relatively new riders to horses that are extremely difficult to control (I need to use a whip on my horse to get it to walk on my second lesson? Really?), making the rides frustrating and progress minimal. And the owner has no interest in receiving, let alone acting on, feedback. If you are an experienced rider looking to make some tweaks, perhaps this farm would work for you. But my advice is to stay away if you are a beginner. Which is a shame since the junior staff couldn't be nicer. But since the owner and manager make the decisions and set the tone for your rides, the helpful and kind junior staff just can't make up for all the negatives.

Maybe the owner should go stand in the arena with the horses and see what it feels like. We've reported them to animal control and the agriculture department.

Our daughter has only taken lessons for a year but she has really excelled with their training! Perhaps the facilities aren't as new and pretty as some of the North Fulton stables, but I can definitely say her Camp experiences were night and day from one in Milton (2010, very basic) versus Falcon Ridge (2011, more fun for her, more in-depth lessons). Looking forward to seeing her continue to learn and do more in the future! Big fan!

Her young "trainer" just kept yelling at her to use her legs, but I could tell she was frightened and didn't know what that meant. The part of the covered arena she was using wasn't entirely covered, so the rain was still getting in, there was lots of mud that her pony did not want to go in, and yet she was with 3 other riders who were having their own lesson using one jump in this tiny area. One of the other girls almost ran into my daughter and then her trainer yelled at her! There were 8 other riders, with 2 different trainers who, maybe because they owned their own horses, were lucky to have the rest of the covered arena although there were lots of horses and riders charging around. What a mess! 12 horses, 12 riders, 3-4 trainers, parents everywhere - chaos. Maybe this place is ok when it's sunny and they can use different riding areas, but things seemed dangerous - I wasn't the only parent that was anxious! Finding somewhere else to ride.
