This review was originally written on August 26, 2021. I made an appointment with Dr. Estes so he could make another re-aligner for me. This is an item placed in the mouth after wearing a night guard to make sure the natural bite stays in place. I have been coming to Dr. Estes for several years and was diligent about seeing him every 6 months for routine exams. Previous to this appointment he commented that my bite was off so he suggested the re-aligner. He charged me a self-pay of 25 dollars which was acceptable. I wear this re-aligner every morning for at least 30 minutes. My re-aligner had cracked and I needed another one. Upon entering my exam pod yesterday, he immediately displayed aggressive behavior by launching into why I was there with no greeting or welcome. I responded by saying, "Good morning, how are you?" He did not answer, ignored my greeting and continued with why I was there. He seemed unusually nervous and was not the congenial person that I had seen during past appointments. Perhaps he was just having a bad day? But then he left and went to the other exam pods and I heard him talking to other patients and he sounded like the Dr. Estes that I was familiar with.....patient, kind, listening and explaining. He returned to my pod, saying, "Alright let's get this re-aligner made." He came over to my chair and asked me to close my teeth and relax my jaw several times. He checked my back teeth and said they were not meeting. He then began negatively with "this is not what I do for a living, you need to go back to where you got your night guard from, etc." He ended with the last comment "how do you eat?" I answered "slowly." I felt like his whole reaction to my situation was definitely deliberate. He knew what he was doing. There was something else that was obviously bothering him about my situation but he did not possess the candor or transparency to actually tell me. Like a child, he was "acting out" in a situation where he had complete control and yet he chose to deal with it in this manner. He "walked' me to the front desk, mumbling something to the staff member about his decision and then he said " no charge." He seemed quite relieved that his "part" was over and, looked at me and said "sorry" with a total lack of sincerity. Digressing, months before my husband saw my re-aligner and decided to have one made since he also wears a night guard. He went to Dr. Estes and what I paid 25 dollars for Dr. Estes wanted to charge him 100.00. My husband refused and so they settled on 50 dollars......still 25 dollars above what I paid just months before. We have always paid our dental bills and had no outstanding balance. I have gone deep in my soul to try to analyze why there was such an overreaction to my problem yesterday. He actually refused to help me by never offering a referral to an orthodontist or any other professional who could help me. I just saw Dr. Estes for my routine visit on July 5. (Yesterday was August 25) If this was such a huge problem, why then was it not discussed during my last appointment? Why he did he wait until now to overreact to my bite issue? I literally felt like garbage kicked to the curb by this human. I did not speak and only listened since I was truly blindsided by his most unprofessional behavior. My husband called yesterday and cancelled both of our six-month routine appointments. There are plenty of good dentists in Frisco who understand the importance of professional behavior. Unfortunately, yesterday's episode completed destroyed any trust we had in Dr. Estes and obviously will not be returning to witness more of his unprofessional behavior. He could have presented this in a calmer way and discussed it with me using logical communication. But unfortunately he made the choice to approach it in a very negative manner. I have since found another dentist who is a very knowledgeable and happens to be both dedicated and helpful -by understanding the importance of intelligent adult communication when dealing with patients. read more

Dr. Ashoty is the best dentist you will ever find. He doesn't try to upsell for unnecessary procedures like the other dentists do. Also, ask for Jennie for your cleaning. You won't be disappointed read more

Went in for a broken tooth and was very pleased with the service I received. Although Dr Estes was no longer there, the new dentist Dr Ashoty is patient and extremely gentle which is great!!! Thank you for such great service and I've already referred a friend. read more

I do not say this lightly about any dentist. I have been to some REALLY bad ones. These dentists at Oak Dental do not suggest lots of additional work as nearly every other dentist I have ever been to does. They have a very ordinary office next to the 7-11 down the street from us with a wonderful, helpful staff. We go to Linda for our teeth cleaning and she is thorough with lots of helpful suggestions. On our first visit they did a complete set of mouth xrays and the dentist found nothing extra that needed done and since my husband and I are both elderly, that was a pleasant surprise and considering that every other dentist has pointed out numerous problems. Often, in my experience, going to the dentist is like taking your car to a mechanic. They can find thousands of dollars worth of problems that need immediate attention, but not these doctors. Both doctors are extremely thorough, very personable and very knowledgable. Dr. Estes is a veteran of the US Army and I am proud that he is our dentist. We are most fortunate that this office is in our insurance network and considering that we are on medicare and they are pay so little for what they do, I am very grateful. read more

Quality and integrity are the two words that come to mind when I think of Dr. Estes. Here is a guy who serves his country as a major in the United States Army as dentist. The thing that sets Dr. Estes a part from the rest of the crowd is that he's not there just to sell you something to fatten his bank account. He has your best interest in mind. Sure we all have to make money and pay our bills including these guys but you won't find that is their motivation to provide you the best dental care possible. There's another guy near Oak dental and all they want to do is upsell you stuff that you probably don't need. I cannot say enough good about Dr. Phil and Oak Dental. We were patients for many years and recommended other family members to this practice, however, Dr. Este's wife, Jenny, treated our family very poorly on two different occasions. Nasty lady. We have since found a great family dentist whose primary focus is patient care and insists his office staff is properly trained in friendly, basic customer service and phone etiquette skills as well! read more

Oak Dental is our family-friendly choice for oral care. The entire staff took away the scare of dental care. I personally never wanted to see a dentist as a kid. Dr. Estes and Dr. Ashoty are excellent! The dental hygienists are also so patient, kind, and are excellent with our kiddos. One of my son's has Autism and all the staff are always so patient, take time to explain what they're doing, and never push him to do anything he's not comfortable with. Now that my dental insurance has changed and Oak Dental isn't in network I was forced to find dental care elsewhere... Upon finding Custer Star Dental, also in Frisco and closer to me, I made an appointment for my dental care at the 6 month mark. With X-rays and cleaning needed I was prepared and expected to pay nothing out of pocket as Oak Dental (Dr. Estes's office) gave me the information that I had no dental concerns... Well upon my first visit at Custer Star Dental, I was shown my X-rays which depicted one cracked filling with a big cavity sitting underneath and also a front crumpling tooth with a very worn crown... I know this is neglect on Dr. Estes's part, and too, his partners! Actually I had switched from seeing Dr. Estes within his own office to seeing his partner due to Dr. Estes's lack of complete dental care and his lack of overall care towards me as a patient... Dr. Estes only gave me care up to what he felt Medicare patients disserved, which was minimal... I know now that Dr. Estes has always neglected me and now I realize the enormity of his lack of care! I had really good insurance through my Medicare Advantage Plan and the work I'm forced to do on my teeth now would have been completely covered if Dr. Estes would have done his job!!! But my current insurance doesn't have as good benefits as my prior one, so I'm paying big time for a person living on Social Security Disability... Don't go to Oak Dental if you care about your teeth!!! read more

After horrible experiences with Monarch in Plano and Frisco, I decided to find someone local. I picked Oak Dental because of the convenience for me, but I stay for the EXCELLENT service!! It's tough to find a dental or other health professional that you can trust, but listen when I tell you Dr. Philip Estes is THAT GUY! He's friendly, super excited to be YOUR dentist, and does have some extended hours during the school year for us parents' convenience! Super-amazing staff, hygienists, They are all WONDERFUL!! They not only help you on your FIRST visit (unlike others), they are interested in proactive preventive dentistry. This puts this mom's mind at ease, knowing he's got my teeth and my family's teeth in mind, and not just focused on his cash register receipts. Let me start by saying that I have been going to this dentist since I was little. I am now 20 so it's been many years. As a child the office had different owners.. and later came Dr. Estes. Like all places, you are skeptical about a new staff, but this change was for the best. I am so pleased with these workers and especially Dr. Estes. His family and staff has always always always been so friendly and caring and all around amazing. From customer service, to making you feel at home and providing the best care and treatment. I see Dr. Estes every 3-6 months for a teeth cleaning and just recently got my wisdom teeth surgery. I cried and cried before entering the office and was so scared about the procedure until I was reassured by him that I would be okay and well taken care of. He sat me down before anything started and gave me as much time as I needed to ask questions and feel okay. I will always recommend this amazing clinic and staff.
