What a gem we found on our first night in Coimbra. Nestled on a little side street in a town full of windy little streets is a sunny, forward looking Portuguese inspired restaurant that isn't afraid to reimagine traditional Portuguese dishes for a stylish clientele obsessed with healthy-ish eating. We started with the seasonal sangria made with fresh cucumber, melon, and green wine; tapas followed and included an incredible grilled fig with a balsamic reduction, paired with a local cheese and delicious bread. Then we were treated to the freshest and most elegant salad, full of seeds, pickled onions and radishes, fresh lettuces, thinly sliced pears, and a boatload of flavor. Not overly dressed. The rump roast was perfectly cooked. Every single item, even the simplest--garlic mozzarella sticks or hummus with veg--were presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The staff were adorable and attentive and the food is magically nostalgic for the Portugal of the past while asserting a new direction in Portuguese cuisine. Cannot recommend highly enough. read more
