My experience with Oxley-Heard Funeral Home was, unfortunately, not a positive one. This was not a…read morefuneral home I chose personally--it was simply the only business card the sheriff's department offered me the day my fiancé passed away suddenly at my home. I was in shock, devastated, and unable to think clearly, so I went with their suggestion. On Saturday, I was contacted by funeral director Amy Lee for next of kin information. By Monday, she called again, requesting more details and asking to meet with me as soon as possible. I assumed this was to discuss the death certificate or final arrangements. Instead, the meeting was cold and impersonal. There was no expression of sympathy or compassion--only a clear focus on who would be paying for the cremation. I was told the next of kin had informed her of a life insurance policy, and the only reason for the meeting was to have me sign the contract. After that, I was no longer contacted. All communication went through the next of kin--his daughter, who was out of state. I was left feeling unwelcome, unacknowledged, and deeply disappointed. For a business that has been around as long as Oxley-Heard, I expected a level of compassion and professionalism, especially from someone in such a sensitive role. Empathy should be at the heart of funeral services. Sadly, that was completely lacking in my experience. I hope this helps others who may find themselves in a similarly vulnerable position. If possible, take time to consider your options and have someone with you to help make decisions. No one should have to feel dismissed or disrespected while grieving.

The roots were deep here, you could feel it as you walked though the doors. The staff was on point, opening doors, quietly pointing you in the right direction. Soft spoken and reverent, it takes a special kind of person to work in this field. I somehow passed an invisible line, a point in my life where funerals had become more frequent and almost the norm. Something that happens as you get older. Dad sat next to me on the bench and lamented about all the widows and widowers he knows, as he joined that status too this year.

They do everything in their power to satisfy your requests, wants or needs. They help you every step of the way. Not everyone is familiar with the planning process so just know you will be in good, I mean great hands when you unfortunately need to use their services. They have beautiful urns. Only complaint... they could use some new carpet or maybe new floors :) brighten up the place. I recommend the amazing men and women here for your funeral needs.

The staff's attention to detail and the care they took to present my mother in the best possible way have clearly left a lasting impression on my family and attendees at the funeral. Eternity Funeral Home was highly recommended by my mother's church-family, and they lived up to their "5-Star" ratings. From the moment my brother and I consulted with the funeral home, we were met by a compassionate and empathetic staff that took their time to understand our wishes during such a difficult time. This funeral home was amazing to work with. Death and grieving can cause so much pain that it almost blinds you: everything becomes somewhat of a haze as you stitch things together, but the staff here was so wonderful and made everything very easy for us. Highly recommended and we will definitely consult with Eternity Funeral Home in the future if needed. David & Martin

The person who died collected antique cars and the funeral home found an antique hearse and an antique funeral flower hearse and limo for services. The vehicles were beautiful and immaculate. The service was held in a local church and the programs done were amazing. There was a keepable funeral card; a trifold almost silky autobiographical hand out as well as a service program. There were photos that were blown up and flowers were arranged beautifully. The cemetery service was respectful and all the family was given roses. I would definitely hire them for any funeral.

When my brother died, I expected support, compassion, or understanding. What I received instead was dismissiveness, impatience, and a complete lack of empathy. There was no effort to show kindness, no recognition of the gravity of the situation, and absolutely no respect for the emotional trauma I was enduring. We decided to have a viewing. We were given a time, we walked into the funeral home 10 minutes before our appointed time. It was deserted! We had to look for someone to help us. They kept us waiting, what seemed like forever! In the middle of one of the darkest times of my life all they managed to do was further traumatize all of us! Finally they bring my brother into the room on a sterile metal gurney, like my brother was a slab of meat, there was no attempt to cover the gurney. It was so disrespectful & hurtful, the emotions that Carmen his widow, his niece Missy, & I his sister endured wounded us even deeper. Being treated like that was a level of insensitivity I wouldn't wish on anyone. No one should have to go through such a devastating loss and be made to feel this way. Shame on those who chose cold efficiency over basic human compassion. You didn't just fail me--you dishonored my brother's memory.
