They had a little of everything here. I didn't see tile or flooring like I do at home, but it may be hit or miss. They had tubs, toilets, sinks, vanities, doors, windows, home decor, furniture, lighting, etc. They had more household goods than I see at other stores, so it's a thrift shop too. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. They had 30% off the first week I was there, and 40% off the next week when I returned. I was told the manager usually does a whole-store sale instead of rotating department-only sales like at home. That was great! Items looked fairly priced to me. Some seemed high, some were great deals, but overall a fair price. Remember that manager discount really makes it a much better price too! I saw a lot of cool games, sport items, and some of the light fixtures were awesome and I wish I'd driven down to take them home. I'm sure there are different great finds every time you visit. We visited to check it out to compare to ones at home, and I was surprised to see a few toys, which my son immediately begged to get. First thought was they can't go home on the plane, but for $1 to get a sturdy big bucket ($5 new at Walmart), and $1 for a tractor trailer truck... minus 30% off everything in store, came to $1.50 with tax. Why not? We just donated it back at the end of our stay. I also donated the new unused rolls of paper towels, tp, rubbing alcohol, tissues, and excess Easter egg hunt prizes we couldn't take with us. They can always use this stuff in the bathroom or wherever. Just a thought to all the vacation renters nearby who have to leave things behind. I'm sure the cleaning people have seen so much of it they just throw it out, but it could go to a thrift store or food bank in Brunswick.

I asked the cashier if they were going to put CHRISTMAS as the season we are celebrating is the HOLIEST OF ALL DAYS. The birth of our SAVIOR. So many stores have we stopped shopping and supporting. I asked if they were going to change because the ckerk answered, "It is not Christmas. Thanksgiving just ended. She said she didn't care if we shopped and donated at other places because we are just ONE CUSTOMER. BUT we are ONE CUSTOMER that share on ALL social media platforms places that do a job and DON'T back down with cultural world views. Not a complaint. Just areas where we have to do BETTER as a COMPASSIONATE COMPANY.

Once a year they have a benefit called Empty Bowls where potters have turned bowls and individuals and groups volunteered to paint the bowls over months... to then be picked by the donators for this event! You get one, unique bowl with your $30 donation but you can buy others at $10-$15 each.... all the money going to Barnabas. With our bowls we also get soup made by the Ritz Carlton (regular bowls from their); this year soups were chicken noodle and butternut squash and having had a bowl of each... they were delicious! Rolls and cheese cake dessert were donated by the Omni here on Amelia; as a matter of fact it was said everything was donated for this fundraiser! Apparently local churches helped to centralize services for the needy with this organization by offering food, medical, dental and educational services to help people to become self-sufficient. It appeared to be well attended so I think the community wanted to support this endeavor and they have faith in Barnabas to do the job! I have painted bowls for this event but this was the 1st time I had been able to attend but plan on doing it again!

We heart The Farm at Oatland North!…read more Located at the beginning of the driveway to Cannon's Point Preserve (another great spot), on your right, is a dirt road leading to a wonderful sanctuary for animals! Open every Sunday, 2-4pm, or by appointment. I was so missing "The Farm" the Sunday after my trip to the Golden Isles this year. I visit animal sanctuaries frequently, and they are all wonderful, but this place was especially magical to me. Really positive energy and happy hopeful souls. These are such deserving, but also lucky animals who get to find their forever home at The Farm at Oatland North. Here you will find a bunch of horses, donkeys, pigs, goats, and cats. Dogs have lived here (and probably other species too), but currently those mentioned are the animal residents. You may feed the animals but please make sure you ask volunteers who may eat what. A senior woman was going around with sugar cubes ignorant of (or not bothering to care about) the fact that one of the horses has a heart condition, among other health concerns in other animals. The white donkey, Wonkey, who walks around to meet people, has lost nearly all his teeth, so we made sure to have cooked carrots mushy enough for him not to choke. The volunteers told us that the week before so we took note, but others were just trying to give him anything. If you truly want to show care toward these animals, please think through the foods you give them. The ASPCA offers a whole list of foods toxic to horses, cats, dogs, etc. take a look before you bring foods. Avocados, grapes, onions, and citrus are just a few foods that are completely toxic to most animals. We met volunteers, Sally, Diane, and Leanne, and they were so kind and engaging. Often volunteers at rescues and sanctuaries are kind, but usually preoccupied with all the work they are doing. Not these ladies! They sat and talked with us in the Adirondack chair circle for a good 20min on Christmas Eve, and we saw Sally and Diane again on New Year's Eve, just as friendly and sweet. Our first visit, Sally took us around and gave us backstories on most of the animals. She taught us a lot of horse facts too (my kid now wants a horse). Second visit, we met two of the pigs' "mom" who raised them in her apartment when they were piglets. All of the volunteers have hearts of gold, and I told them I have never felt such calm and loving animals as I did here (and we visit a LOT of rescues, sanctuaries, zoos, etc). We could not have been more impressed with the love and trust between humans and animals at this farm. The horses loved our 8lbs of apples. Diane had a core-er in the office, and gave us a feed bucket to put slices in, which really made feeding easy. Sally had explained we need to use our voice to call Tex over because he's blind. My son loved being patient and using voice to call him over. Tex would paw at the ground for another apple slice. The horses were so excited for the snacks because visiting time is always before dinner served at 4 when everyone leaves. Anything visitors bring are well-loved hors d'oeuvres! The cats are all so loving too. They all look super healthy, but we made sure to wash our hands before going home to our own kitties (we take our kitties to GA), because you can never tell if a cat has FIP, a coronavirus that can be latent in some carrier cats, and deadly in others (I lost a cat to FIP). So pat and enjoy these kitties for sure, just do a COVID-style soap and water scrub before touching your pets at home. This is our 4th year visiting Jekyll and we just found out about "The Farm" even after visiting Cannon's Point our first year! Pet It Forward/Gina deserves the award of the year from our household! We have a precious…read more(ShihTzu) little girl named Princess who desperately needed to be seen by a VET ASAP because I thought she was having a seizure & have bloodwork done due to something she got into. Frantically I called Gina & to my surprise she started making calls for me. Not only did she help find somewhere affordable to take Princess, but stayed in communication w/me the entire trip as well from beginning to end. Even during the VET'S actual visit, to ensure that we received excellent care @11pm at night. Which we did & Princess was able to come home with/a clean bill of health after the scariest night ever! Without Gina walking me through this, idk what I would have done. It's not often that you call a complete stranger & the person on the other end, ends up being an Angel! Gina words truly cannot express to you what you've done for our family. I will certainly not ever forget & will shout from the rooftops that there is certainly still hope for our pets through folks like YOU. P.s. Review #900 comes in the form of admiration for the Ronald McDonald House in Jacksonville. I…read morerecently toured the facility for the first time and still have goosebumps from my experience. This non profit charity does not receive any federal or government grants or funding. Contrary to popular belief, it's a completely donation-based organization, which is absolutely stunning, since they currently house 53 families free of charge. Patients and their families come from all around the world to seek medical attention in Jacksonville. When I toured the house, they spoke enthusiastically of a family who recently crossed the pond from Ireland. People might not be talking about this enough, but Jacksonville is home to state-of-the-art medical care. The house is beautiful. There's a courtyard, a full-service kitchen (larger than some restaurants), a pantry, a movie room, a play room, a prayer room, a class room, a covered parking garage, a gorgeous rooftop garden and so much more. On top of that, each employee I've worked with or met in passing has a passion so evident it's contagious. I have to admit there were times during the tour I found myself getting choked up. The mission is clear and they are truly changing lives by providing lodging, food and transportation better than most hotel accommodations. Add to the mix, families at their most stressful only emphasizes the Lord's work they're doing. Love, love, love! I encourage anyone to donate or give back to the Ronald McDonald House.
