The only two claims I have ever had with Arbella were two homeowner claims in the last three years (for $16k ice dam damage in 2015 and $7k for damage from a pinhole leak in a copper pipe) but this was enough for them to decide (at first) not to renew my policy. After posting this review on Yelp! I received a phone call from Bearingstar Insurance, agent for Arbella. They have now offered to renew my policy and I have accepted their offer. I am grateful for their follow-up to my complaint on social media, although it would have been even better had they listened the first time when I called them up after receiving my notice of non-renewal. I have therefore raised my rating to three stars and thank Megan (who commented on this review) for her assistance in this matter.

So now, not only did I lose an $8k vehicle they've stuck me with a $2600 rental car bill. I asked to be contacted by a supervisor because David was NO Help. He just ghosted me not once but 2 times! I wouldn't use this insurance company. Considering I could have died. I was lucky to not get injured but we were both going about 40miles an hour for an almost head on collision. He found that I was way over insured in some areas (car) and underinsured in others (home, umbrella, etc). Since he was retired and now out of state, he didn't have the ability to handle it all himself. My father recommended Steve Palenscar (a contact he made in the past as an insurance agent) SPECIFICALLY because he knew he would personally work with me to get properly insured, not use a preset default from a computer program. Long story short: Through a discussion over the phone about my finances, assets, family, etc, we were able to personalize my coverage to suit my family personally, and I am now adequately covered in case someone makes a claim against anyone in my immediate family (umbrella policy). I'm not an insurance expert, but I am paying less from my combined policies and am actually better protected. Below is part of my Google review related to customer service received so far. Since change to this agency, I have purchased 3 cars and Steve Palenscar has handled just about all of the painful RMV tasks that I have normally had to deal with. That includes having one of his guys wait in line at the RMV to get my plate for me! The 3rd and most recent vehicle purchase is what prompted me to write this review. I purchased a salvage (aka. totalled) car from an auction in Georgia, and soon learned that getting an out of state salvage car legally registered in MA is quite an ordeal. I increased my auto coverage in early 2025 for a job that required higher driving premiums. When that job changed, I no longer needed the extra coverage. Joe Babcock told me my rate could not legally be lowered. That was false. After escalating, Diane Doyle gave me a lower rate proving it could have been reduced all along. Then she turned around and defended Joe as a "good salesman." He seriously needs coaching or a good smack if this was intentional. I was paying $215+/month for a 2011 Lexus ES350 simply because no one volunteered to lower it. If you're a C&S customer, review your rate. Demand a re-quote. Make them justify every dollar. And to C&S leadership: if you need help training your amateur sales reps on honesty and pricing transparency, I'm available. Check your rate, because they won't.
