I had my homeowners and auto insurance with Arbella for many years. Recently I changed to Geico for the auto insurance because it was half the price. The only two claims I have ever had with Arbella were two homeowner claims in the last three years (for $16k ice dam damage in 2015 and $7k for damage from a pinhole leak in a copper pipe) but this was enough for them to decide (at first) not to renew my policy. After posting this review on Yelp! I received a phone call from Bearingstar Insurance, agent for Arbella. They have now offered to renew my policy and I have accepted their offer. I am grateful for their follow-up to my complaint on social media, although it would have been even better had they listened the first time when I called them up after receiving my notice of non-renewal. I have therefore raised my rating to three stars and thank Megan (who commented on this review) for her assistance in this matter. read more

Well, their client tried to kill me when totaling my car in November 2025. They made me go 42 days without a car. I'm trying to be reimbursed for my rental car that I had to pay out of pocket for because Arbella WOULD NOT accept liability even though my police report CLEARLY STATED THEUR CLIENT IS 100 percent at fault. So now, not only did I lose an $8k vehicle they've stuck me with a $2600 rental car bill. I asked to be contacted by a supervisor because David was NO Help. He just ghosted me not once but 2 times! I wouldn't use this insurance company. Considering I could have died. I was lucky to not get injured but we were both going about 40miles an hour for an almost head on collision. Stay Away from Arbella Auto Insurance - Worst Experience Ever Whatever you do, please stay far away from Arbella Auto Insurance. They are hands down the worst insurance company I've ever dealt with. Here's my experience: Someone hit my vehicle while it was parked. I called Arbella to file a claim, and they immediately denied it. They then told me to resubmit the claim, which I did. After resubmitting, they suddenly demanded $1,634 from me, even though I had full coverage (including collision) and had paid my policy in full for the last three years. There was absolutely no reason for me to owe anything additional. Despite my confusion, I paid the amount. Then Arbella claimed that my car had been involved in multiple accidents, which is completely false. I have photo proof showing my vehicle had no prior damage just a month and a half before the incident. I even went to two independent auto body shops with separate appraisers, both of whom confirmed the damage occurred at one time -- not multiple incidents. Instead of simply paying the $2,800 needed for the repairs, Arbella went out of their way to hire an accident reconstructionist -- a tactic that both shops warned me about. Once a reconstructionist is hired, it's almost automatic that they deny the claim. The reconstructionist never even physically inspected my vehicle. Their sole purpose is to protect Arbella's financial interests, not the insured customers. Arbella does everything possible to avoid paying out claims, no matter how legitimate or small they are. I had been a loyal customer with Arbella for over 7 years, paying my premiums without issue. But after this accident -- which again, was completely out of my control -- they sent me a cancellation notice just a month later, labeling me a "liability." If you plan on staying with Arbella, be warned: the second you have any type of incident, even something as simple as a parked car being hit during a snowstorm, they will find any excuse not to pay and to drop you. The WORST! Run fast from this company. I had a car in NYC that my daughter was using, and the catalytic converter was stolen. It took weeks to have someone look at it because they couldn't find it on the street, despite having an address and a picture of the car parked. That got so wild, I had it towed to a dealer, thinking this would be easier for them to find the vehicle--weeks at the dealers and having the appraiser look at it. The price was so crazy different. The money the insurance was paying, I couldn't have the car fixed there. Now I have to ship the car back to Massachusetts and pay for that, then decide what to do with the vehicle. After receiving an email from them stating the case is closed and then ghosting me, I suppose I am on my own. I have another car insured with Mapfre Insurance and have never had a problem. My valet was parking my vehicle and got into a minor accident. Arbella was unfortunately their insurance provider that ended being responsible for the damage. My vehicles was in the shop for 18 days and I picked it up the day after the repairs were finished and they refused to pay for the rental vehicle more than 11 days. I got stuck with the remainder of the rental bill. I only learned about this when I got the credit charge. There was no communication from them. Instead of talking directly to collision center for what they thought was too long, they left it to me to argue on their behalf. Of course the collision center said they took a reasonable amount of time and now I am stuck with the bill for an accident that I played no part of. I emailed Michelle Schmidt ( who I was told was the supervisor) to find out why my claim rep Tayler Stohlman hadn't responded to my calls or email but Michelle didn't respond to my email either. Have been a customer for nearly 20 years. No claims up until I had a claim 3 years ago for one of my kids and 2 years ago for another no other tickets or pints for any of us. This year they jacked up my annual auto premiums from $6857 to $12232. We drive a 2012 Tacoma with 150k a 2016 accord with 120k and a 2015 enclave with 160k. Had this insurance for 8+ years, with a great driving record and made all my payments. Recently got rear ended for my first legitimate accident since I had this insurance company coverage, and a month later when my coverage was meant to renew, they canceled and said they wouldn't cover me anymore because of a few "late payments", giving me 2 days to find a new insurance. They constantly raised my prices every year, even with a near perfect driving record, and were very difficult with the auto body shop when trying to receive payment for the repairs from being rear ended. Had Arabella for one year. My renewal just came in. Annual increase of $317.00. When I called and asked why, I was told it was because of inflation. It's a 25% increase year over year. I told the rep "I'm the guy you want to insure!" Single male, over 65, low mileage, no accidents, no moving violations, use my seatbelts, use auto payments. Really struggling with basic communication with our Arbella claim representative. She doesn't respond emails nor responds to voicemails given you can never get her to pick up her office line. I think the overall product is fine but they have to get this element of customer service right. If considering getting insurance with Arbella, despite the terrible reviews, here are some of their lies and dirty tricks to watch out for: 1) Telling you they only have to pay you what you paid for the car (they actually have to pay you the book value, based on model, year and condition. if you got a good deal, and picked up a car at below book, that's to your benefit, not theirs) 2) Pretending they are your friend and want to pay a claim (they are looking for any possible way to not pay it) 3) Threatening to report you to Insurance Fraud Division when they know you didn't commit fraud 4) Trying to coerce you into signing a document that explicitly states you weren't coerced into signing it Just my experience with one Arbella claims rep. I don't know if other reps at the company are less dishonest. Or if other insurance companies might be just as bad.... But bottom line, I'd recommend not giving Arbella your money. Arabella is terrible! My kids car broke down and it was after 6pm. They have and pay for towing coverage on their policy and yet they have no service from Friday after 6pm until Monday morning!! Who the hick has that kind of coverage? They only needed a tow for about 2 miles. They have to lay out of pocket and then be reimbursed by Arabella. That's ridiculous. I am placing this here so everyone is aware of the integrity of this company then I'm reporting them to the DOI and BBB. On June 3rd a client of Arbella insurance hit my car while parked at a supermarket and left the scene without reporting it. There was plenty of witnesses and the store had it on camera. The police were called. A police report was filed. The driver sideswiped the drivers side of my car taking out the drivers side mirror causing a safety violation if driven. The front tire has a slow leak now flat. Plus other damage to my car. It is going on 2 months and Arbella insurance is still refusing to pay for a rental car. I reach out to them at least once a week and the insurance adjuster refuses to return my phone call and/or get on the phone to speak with me. Twice they escalated the claim. Once they called be back stating there is no police report or claim. Both lies. I also called and hit zero to speak to someone else. They said the adjuster is available and then transferred me. to his line. It would ring then go to voicemail. I work 2 full time jobs one job I travel, the other job I work with people that have an intellectual disability's, my car is needed. There is a claim, a police report, witness's and on the store's camera and they are refusing to pay for my rental. read more

I was hit on the highway by their distracted driver who merged right into me from the on ramp on July 3. That Arbella-insured driver then claimed I hit her. Here's the thing, the "wronged" driver who I supposedly hit NEVER FILED A CLAIM. To add insult to injury, I agree to not call the police as she was heading to her medical job and we were sitting ducks on Route 3. The final straw: the person who I supposedly hit attempted to wipe the damage off my bumper! Who does that? If you cut me, I don't try to hide the wound! As an election official who had been overwhelmed with accusations of "fraud" from media and political entities, the last source of such disparagement I would expect to hear these accusations is Arbella. In July of this year my car experienced a hit and run at a local parking lot during a very heavy rainstorm. It was discovered the following day and taken to a drive up claims center in Bridgewater, but it was closed. So I filed via photo upload. Nicole confirmed the claim coverage [@$1800, minus my $500 deductible], and sent me notice to seek a place to have repairs done, which I was in the process of doing. Then, Rene [a claims adjuster?] shows up to take pictures claiming the ones I sent weren't good. Within hours, I get notice from Dan P. about a fraud investigation being initiated against me and my husband. The letter sent was threatening at best. Our insurance agent was contacted and totally in the dark about this. No way would I trust turning my car over to some Arbella person to mess with the digital chip. My husband informed our agent that we would pay the entire repair ourselves and then look for another company for all of our insurance needs. My car is fully repaired at our expense and the owner of that business identified who at Arbella was the source of the unfounded accusations. It seems that Rene was assigning blame rather than doing her job of evaluating the damage. This Dan P. was beyond words with his threatening comments. We have been insured with Arbella for over 20 years, homeowners and auto, paying every bill as one time payment on time. The actions of the two aforementioned individuals resulted in Arbella's loss of our business and destroyed the friendship we maintained with the agency. We are now insured with Amica, homeowners, auto and umbrella policies, paid in full. Our new company has afforded us better rates, increasing coverage as needed, and found credits for such things as having a whole house generator. Now to await Arbella's ability to refund monies for the policies that are paid into December. read more

More like zero stars. I've been trying to get a windshield replaced for a month. I specifically requested OE Toyota glass but when I showed up to the repair shop (Safelite) they had an aftermarket windshield. When I told them I wanted OE they contacted Arbella and said they'd get back to me by the end of the day. Of course, Arbella denied the request. I called Arbella and explained that the car has a HUD, lane keeping camera, etc. and I have had repeated problems with aftermarket windshields (all installed because Arbella insisted on it). They wouldn't budge, they even went so far as to claim that MA law requires them to install aftermarket glass (a claim which they have repeated every time I have spoken with them, and is false, MA law requires an OE windshield for the first 20k miles after that it is up to the insurance company, there is nothing that says they have to used aftermarket). So I had no choice but to have an aftermarket windshield put in (Pilkington). Now the HUD is wavy/distorted and there is very visible light-doubling at night. I called Arbella again and they agreed to approve an OE windshield, they said I just needed to have Safelite put through the claim again. Safelite put in the claim and it was pushed back saying it needed an inspection before they would approve a new windshield. At this point I've already been to the glass shop twice and spent well over an hour going back and forth with Arbella and Safelite (who have actually been quite helpful throughout). I'm not about to go to the glass shop for a third time so Arbella will approve a fourth visit (keep in mind I'm taking time off from work for all of these visits). So I called Arbella again and said as much to them. This was yesterday afternoon. They assured me that they'd take care of it and someone would call me that day. No one ever called, so I called back again this afternoon. They started giving me the same run-around about how they're just following the law (again, not true. The law requires that aftermarket parts be of the same quality which this windshield is demonstrably not) and how Pilkington is just as good as OE (it's not, as evidenced by the three bad Pilkington windshields I've personally had). They said they would send a message to the policy administrator right away who would get back to me with verbal confirmation. That was over an hour ago. I suspect I'll be calling them again tomorrow, and probably again the day after. read more
