Went here for strawberry picking this last weekend and it was super cute! They list on their Facebook website if they will be open and even warned that it was hard to find berries which didn't stop us. We were pleasantly surprised we still found about 8# of berries without difficulty! They have a cute little indoor area with jams/honey from another farm and then offer $1 wine tasting. For the kiddos they have a bunch of different swing sets, plenty of picnic tables on the shade, $1 hay ride and hot dogs that you can grill yourself! Drove to this place from Tampa on a Sunday in March. It is just outside Mt Dora. Weather was cloudy with a light sporadic mist. You can taste some of their fruit made wine for a dollar. They don't give you much, but the person pouring is very nice and informative. We did buy a bottle. Next we went into the field and picked strawberries. The young man there had boxes and instructions for us. This was the end of the season, but there we're plenty of delicious bright red strawberries to pick. You just needed to look harder. Many were rotting on the underside where they lay on the dirt for too long. The country kitchen they advertise being open on the weekends was closed. A little disappointing since you had to drive into Mt Dora to get even a drink. I would recommend this because it is a quaint town with plenty of shops and restaurants. read more

We go at least once a year. So much fun and the strawberries are delicious. Picking berries is good for the soul. It gets busy but that does not hurt the experience. Drove out here on a Saturday afternoon. It was packed with people and the lines were outrageous. We just did the wine tasting, which costs $1/person. The amount they give for tasting is so tiny, especially compared to other vineyards. We also had strawberry shortcakes, which were ok. The weather was beautiful, but we didn't pick any strawberries because their prices are so high. You can get strawberries in Plant City for 1/3 of the price. We went today for the last weekend of strawberry picking. We had a great time!!! We walked in and were told where to get a carton for strawberries and where to go. You could tell it was the last weekend, but we were still able to get over 6 lbs of berries. They are priced at $3.50 a pound. We also decided to do the wine tasting for a dollar each. It was quick- but they had some good varieties. We got two bottles (and saved $2 because of the coupons), so I'd say great day. read more

Love this strawberry farm and winery. The place has gotten a lot busier since i last came. The strawberries are great this season. The strawberry wine is excellent!! My favorite wine in the world and it's about 13 bucks. Can't beat it! The one criticism is that they definitely need to work on some efficiency measures now that they seem to have become more popular. The line to check out could take quite long even with just a couple people ahead. A few good fans inside would be great as well. It gets VERY warm inside the shop. read more

In Sorrento, you will find a quaint farm that offers so much to do. The fields were full of people picking strawberries. There were kids enjoying the tire swings and zip lining. There was a small camp fire out front where you could sit and enjoy on one of several benches or purchase a hot dog to roast. Inside they have strawberry milkshakes, strawberry shortcake, wine, local honey and preserves. The owner and his staff work hard to see that the crowd is cared for. Great place to pick your own strawberries!! Came out here on Saturday morning with my wife had a great time. We were greeted by two high school aged kids when we drove onto the farm who told us where to park and to come back to them when we wanted to pick. They told us the rows to pick, gave us boxes to collect the berries in, and flags to mark how far down the row we picked. It was well organized and the berry rows were very neat and well maintained. The flag system also ensures you pick an unpicked section of the row and have plenty of berries to choose from. We started picking down our rows and quickly found tons of beautiful strawberries!! We were having a great time and kept saying, 'just one more' and we ended up with a bit more than we intended. We each picked a full box, which turned out to weight 10lbs each. We were a little shocked at the scale, so if you haven't been since a little kid like us, use that as a gauge. We were happy to pay though since we had a great time and knew we would eat and use the berries. The berries were $3.10/lb and required a $15 minimum to use a credit card, which we easily met. We then got the strawberry milkshakes they offer because why not, but both agreed they could use a little more strawberry favor. Sitting here a day later though I am sure it is because we and everyone else on the planet is used to the fake flavor McDonalds uses, so I still say 5-star, because they were made with real strawberries and not fake flavor. There were other things present on the farm other families were doing like a small zip-line, a playground, a fire to cook hotdogs, picnic tables, and wine tasting and everyone seemed to be having a great time! In the end we saved some berries for the coming week to eat fresh, made freezer jam, and froze a bunch for smoothies. Would definitely recommend and will be back next year!! read more

It's strawberry season again! If you like strawberries you've got to try this place. Make the drive out to Sorrento where you can pick your-own-strawberries. We are making this a yearly tradition with our son who, at 18 months, was a little more helpful this year. They have a couple of small play areas and a free hayride as well. Getting in is free, you just pay by the pound for the berries you pick. The bad: They have a snack/gift shop with jellies, jams, and sauces. The food isn't great, even the strawberry milkshakes and shortcakes leave something to be desired. A hotdog costs $2 and comes to you COLD, yes for $2 you have to cook your own hotdog. This is actually fun as long as you plan on it, but if you are hungry NOW, you're gonna have to eat it cold. They have a bonfire going and I noticed some people had brought their own hotdogs from home. Smart. We had a real grump checking us out. First we ordered strawberry shortcake. He jotted down our order then asked if we wanted whipped cream or ice cream. We asked if we could have both. He grumbled, violently scratched out "shortcake" and said, "That would be a sundae" and rewrote the ticket. We looked at each other shocked. Our total with strawberries came to $9.75, but a $10 minimum is required to use a credit card. The man checking us out informed us of this in a not-so-nice manner. We asked if he could just charge us an extra quarter, which he did. Yikes! I truly don't know what this guy's problems was! To be fair though everyone else was very friendly; from the older gentleman helping us in the field to the guy who drove the tractor for our hayride. We had a very disappointing experience at Oak Haven Farms this afternoon. My wife and I loaded up four kids and my 87 year old mother and made our trek to pick strawberries. My mom started suffering Rapid Progressive Dementia since the middle of the pandemic. We are including her in as much life experiences as we can and strawberry shortcake is her favorite. We planned our visit to pick from 4 to 5 and to plan our visit, I looked at Google and also went to their website. Both said they were open 11:00AM to 5:00PM on Sunday. Their Facebook business page didn't have any times posted at the top, but I followed the link to their website from their. We showed up at 4 as planned and the sign out front said SUN 11-5. We went inside and got a bin for the strawberries. The person that handed us the bin said they were about to close but I said I think we can pick plenty in one hour and then he directed us way out in the field to the barrel marking the row we should pick. My mom made it all the way out on her walker and we started picking. After about five minutes, a man got out of a truck and started to shoo us away. He said they were closed and did not seem very sympathetic that we clearly just got my mom all the way out there on a walker. I asked him what he was talking about and he said they close at four. I explained that is not what I saw on line and he said we should not trust google. I then pointed to the sign about 20 yards behind him at the entrance that had the same times as google. He seemed disinterested. I started to walk my mom back and then looked up the farm's website to make sure I saw it correctly and there it was: Sunday: 11:00am - 5:00pm. I walked back to the truck with a smile and said I just wanted to point out that the farm's own website says open until 5. I also wanted to give this man the benefit of the doubt and said, listen I understand you probably aren't the owner but I want you to know that your own website says 5. He took the phone from my hand, looked at it, and said that oh we need to change that. Then he said something that floored me and this is the real reason I'm taking the time to write a review - he WAS the owner. This man then watched me walk with my mom on the walker through the dirt with my wife and four kids back to the car. We had planned on buying strawberries, preserves, shortcake, and wine. I am willing to give anyone the benefit of the doubt, but any business owner that behaves this way without at least sincerely apologizing or offering some sort of understanding or maybe a come back next time and have a shortcake (whether or not I would take them up on that) no longer deserves my business. read more

This was my first experience strawberry picking and had a great time! It was an absolutely gorgeous Florida day in the 80s. We drove up and were greeted by a young guy who told us where to park. He also gave us the box to pick our berries. He could have been a bit friendlier, but he was also really young and just overlooked it. We were allowed to pick from one of the two fields, which was fine considering how big the fields were. We managed to fill an entire box, which is much easier than you might think and we ended up with nearly 5 lbs. It costs $3.10/lb. We didn't mind the price because the experience was worth it and we had such a good time being outside, taking photos, and picking strawberries. There was also a wine tasting for $1 per person, which we decided to partake in. We were given a tiny, tiny sample of each of the wines they offer. The samples were honestly too small. It was really difficult really judging some of them because of how little they offered. It was only $1, but should have been free considering the sample sizes. Most of the wines were sweet, which is fine if you prefer sweet. I am thankful for the tasting, though, because I was ready to purchase a bottle that I thought I was going to like until I actually got to try it. It was worth the $1. Plus, if you decide to purchase a bottle, they will credit the $1 back to you by deducting $1 from your purchase. read more

Thankfully, we didn't run into any snafu's as far as Oak Haven's service, but I could tell that it may have been a possibility if we had similar circumstances to Janene H's. With that said, I'm so glad glad I read her review! I had no idea that there were strawberry farms so close by. Granted, Sorrento is off the beaten path, but what a lovely path it is. The drive there was rather lovely and I didn't mind the trip one bit. And when you arrive, it's so neat to see so many people bending over picking bright red strawberries. We picked about $10 worth of strawberries and left with a few pounds of them. I'm not exactly sure what they charge, but it's not expensive for the amount you receive. They aren't open every day though so you might want to call ahead to make sure. Overall, it's a simple but really fun thing to do with just about anyone. And it totally gives you an excuse to make strawberry shortcake. Mmmmm.... And if you're really adventurous, maybe even strawberry jam! read more

The good: They grow really amazing strawberries, If you have little ones they will enjoy playing in the fields. The bad: The kids play area is run down( the kids won't care but be careful) The service you'll get classic southern attitude. Plus there are dogs everywhere one knocked the food out of my wife and daughters hands and proceeded to eat it. Every body acted like they didn't see it, but they clearly thought it was funny. When I asked what they were gonna do about after 10 mins of pretending they didn't know what I was saying they basically, told me I had just purchased 25 bucks worth of dog food. It's not a bad place just a bunch of bitter people, that have no empathy, and a lot of dogs that are apparently well fed. I would have given this place a five star if it wasn't for the rude attitude of the lady that owns this place. Everyone else was very nice and courteous; however, the owner rushed us out and refused to offer the wine testing to my wife who just showed up a couple minutes after I did. Then when I told her that I wanted to purchase the blue berry wine she kept saying that she is not giving any more tasting; she was just not listening to what I was saying. Maybe she was just overwhelmed with too many customers. Next time, We will go to a place where I get better customer service. We only drove 45 minutes to this place since It came up in the Fox35 news. read more

Strawberry picking was fun and is a great activity for both kids and adults. Everything after was awful. Waited in line in the heat with ZERO social distancing. Waiting is to be expected; however, the social distancing was horrendous, even indoors. There were not enough people working on a busy Saturday late morning-early afternoon. Dessert was mediocre and we were excited for wine tasting. Waited 5-10 min just to get to the counter. The lady didn't wipe ANYTHING down. People have their masks off and are tasting the drinks, you must sanitize the counters. It's a quick wipe. Then she asked us to bare with her for a moment as she gets more wine from the back. She comes back with 3 boxes of wine on a dolly and wait another 5 min as she unloads all 3. Then when she is finally ready she asks everyone to squeeze in together like sardines. My girlfriend and I having waited 15 min already had a spot no more than 2 people can be close enough and were not comfortable with people directly next to us with masks off and we told her. She was extremely rude and told us to wait for the next round. We insisted on staying because we already waited 15 min. She said "if your staying then people are going to stand next to you, if you don't like it wait or get your money back." Extremely unprofessional and is deliberately putting people at risk for their own personal monetary gain. We got our money back and left. Never going back. Overpriced strawberries. read more

My family was there for strawberry picking, five minutes after we started the owner showed up accusing us eating too much strawberry, and keep questioning how can we eat before paying. He is very rude in front of my 2 month old baby and 6 years old son. l honestly don't know we can't taste them when you picking. I can pay for what we ate but there is no need to be so rude.This is the third year we came here and we always taste some when we picking. We have been to many farms for blueberry and orange, never had any issue. We bought their wine and honey too, each time we spend about 100 dollar. And now we are treated as thieves. Just like one other review mentioned, people here are bitter and no empathy. read more

I gave a 3 star review because this is not the first time we have run into snafu's coming out to the farm. This farm was listed as a pumpkin patch and the farm was empty and closed. The gate was open and there were not any signs stating hours or anything about a pumpkin patch. The open sign said open but that is all. I love picking strawberries here in spring, live the Christmas tree farm and the general store...but it's ALWAYS something when we come here. read more

Oak haven farms is awesome. I absolutley love this place, have a hard time waiting all year for ths time of year! I take my neices and nephews thay have a blast. From picking the fresh berries to eating few in between, the playing on the play ground, and roasting a hot hog on the open fire! Not to mention the yummy strawberry shortcakes and ice cream to finish off a great time. this place is very peaceful. I even made homemade jam last year for the first time, everyone i gave it to loved it. Very fresh and sweet! I tell every one I know about this place, even people i don't know when i see them buying strawberries at the store. Yes it's a little out of the way but It's nice toi take a drive in what passes for "country" in these parts. The berries were all sizes and our three girls ate more than thier share whil we picked. We went on a Saturday and it was busy (40 cars?) but the fileds are good size (2 acres each?) so there were plenty of rows that needed to be picked. They have a very efficent way of making sore every row get's cleaned by flagging where you stop. We picked about a flat of berries and it was $13. They charge about $2 a pound. The grounds has two playgrounds and a couple of small zip lines. The wine tasting was nice (4 samples for $1 and you get $1 off of a bottle). All in all a very enjoyable 90 minues. Oh and I totally understand the $10 minumum on CC. The fees vendors are now being asked to pay are rediculous. read more

We just moved into the Sorrento area, and thought it was so nice that a strawberry farm was just down the road from us! BUT.....after my experience today, I WILL NEVER RETURN OR RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!!! FIRST, as I drove in, I purposely asked the young guy if credit cards were accepted. His response: yes. So, after walking the long path, getting our basket, and picking our berries, we headed to the barn to pay. THIS is where the problem started. When I got to the scale, it was about $7.50 in berries. Ok, no problem. THEN, asI handed my credit card, I was told," Sorry, we have a $15 minimum purchase." I was informed, in very unfriendly terms, that I needed to pay cash or find something else to buy. I asked WHY I was not told about this at the BEGINNING? She said "it has always been our policy". Well, that's great, but THIS WAS MY FIRST VISIT! How was I to know this? I told her, nicely, that we live very close and would like to make this a regular visit, and I would be sure to bring cash next visit, but she didn't care, and didn't seem to care if she ever had our business again. The strawberries are very good and it is nice to be able to pick your own so that every berry you buy is a good one! In the stores they put the good ones at the top and put in some not so good ones or bad ones in the tub at the bottom. The farm is a very pretty place to hang out after you have picked your strawberries. You can cook a hot dog over the campfire or have a ready made dessert from the kitchen or a strawberry shake! They now have a selection of wines that are made right there and all of them are good. Tried them all! Not expensive either. My kids loved playing there at the playground or on the zip line. Its nice they give you a free hayride if you want as well. Its a great family thing to do and then you can take the strawberries home and make whatever you want with them or just eat them with a little sugar on top! Great! read more

What a wonderful place to go. We had a such an enjoyable afternoon. I cannotbelieve all these things they offer and its FREE. The strawberries are super delicious and sweet. It has a little snack bar and small place to buy some goodies. There was people of all ages having a good time. I did not see any unhappy people. All the employess are very nice.
