When I came in to check in the next clerk was also wonderful. The room was clean and spacious. The shower was just fantastic. I miss that hot and perfectly pressured shower. I took a swim in the pool and it was also clean and spacious. The breakfast in the morning was hot and the coffee was delicious. Checking out was simple, just drop your key-card in the box and you're off! All in all, it was a great weekend. I will return as soon as I can.

Even though it was the day after Christmas and they had no other guests, the owners, Mark and Dixie, were still nice enough to open up their B&B to us. The drive to get there from North Springfield was beautiful - very pastoral. This area, just outside of Rogersville, is called Compton Hollow. I was a little surprised when we pulled up to see that the B&B itself is in a building with metal siding and roof. However, the inside is as warm and cozy as you would ever want, with hardwood floors, beautiful wood trim, a nice little table for eating or playing games, and a large comfy couch for visiting, watching TV and movies (they have a vast library) or listening to music. Mark gave us a tour, and the rooms are all well decorated and appointed. Each has a country feel, but they all very slightly on different themes. We stayed in the Panther Valley Room, which seemed to be the most romantic. It had a huge and very comfy king bed, a two person air tub, as well as a full bath with a shower. There was bubble bath and many other personal care items provided, plus a bowl of chocolates. The building is built on a hillside, so you enter on the upper floor. Downstairs, there is a huge, beautiful kitchen where Mark makes huge, beautiful breakfasts (and sometimes dinners too). There's also a large dining table and space for groups to gather, as they often host quilting and scrapbooking retreats. We had very limited cell service on our Verizon phones (which was a good thing for helping us to unplug), but the free wi-fi service seemed very solid for the hour or so that we used it during our stay. The weather was cold and rainy, so we did not get out and enjoy the 40 acre property during our visit, but we did see that there is a nice big wooden deck at the back of the building that looks into the woods and is used for weddings. Mark said that they are working on creating trails through the property for visitors to enjoy. Mark and Dixie are the nicest folks you'll ever meet. We chatted with them at breakfast, and it was like talking with old friends. I loved everything about this special place.

From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the facilities and ambience at this B&B. We came in after dark and had no trouble finding it with the help of Google maps. We were greeted by Mark and his wife Dixie who were lovely, welcoming and very helpful! My wife and I enjoyed a complimentary spritzer as we soaked in the hot tub and later enjoyed a movie while laying in the comfortable bed. The grounds, including the swans and ducks, really help re-energize your spirit. Innkeeper Cheri is delightful and friendly, without being overbearing. I found it very neat and convenient that she will communicate with you via text, rather than a knock on the door or a call; that really adds to the relaxing feel of the inn. Unfortunately, the NEW Fairfield which was nearby was literally DOUBLE the price of this one so we stayed here. While it wasn't terrible, it wasn't the great great either. We liked the location of this hotel, right off the interstate. Having the shopping plaza right there with TJMAXX, Ross and Academy Sports was nice as there isn't *that* much to do in Rolla but shopping is alway fun. The one negative about the location is there really isn't any food options RIGHT nearby. Perhaps down the road they'll build some restaurants?? The building itself is ok. I'm pretty sure this hotel is older but renovated. Our 2 queen room was comfortable and clean. The hotel has a fitness center and indoor pool which we did not utilize. A big draw of this hotel brand is their free breakfast with their "famous" Cinnamon Rolls. (Drool). I would eat my weight in those things except that I wouldn't want to be like 500lbs so I limit myself to one or two. Aside from them, various types of eggs (some days scrambled, some days fried), sausage or bacon, biscuits and gravy, made to order pancake machine, cold cereals, yogurt and some breads/bagels. Coffee was always hot and fresh. One of the biggest negatives is that the side door key card reader didn't work. As a result, someone kept putting a rock in the door to keep it open. (We assumed workers were doing this so they could go out and come in for smoke breaks). Needless to say, we didn't feel very safe having a locked door kept ajar for anyone to waltz into our hotel unnoticed. We kicked the rock away numerous times but another one would return. As for the employees, everyone I talked to were friendly, especially the breakfast attendant. With that said, I have been taught to not judge a book by it's cover... but many of the "books" here look pretty rough around the edges. We kept a "do not disturb" card on our door hoping to keep anyone out of our room. We also didn't bring anything of value into the room just in case. Maybe we're mistaken. All in all, we had a good stay here and would consider visiting again.

I called and told them we would be there around 7:30-8:00 and they were fine with that. Then we started having car trouble. By the time we made Rolla it was apparent we weren't going to make it. I called and told here. She called me back and said to call the host that I book it through which was hotels.com and she would refund our money. I did and thank her so much for doing that. Our children live in Marshfield so I am sure we will get to stay there soon. Definitely worth looking into for a visit!!!
