They also have an incredible selection for a smaller library as well. Pretty much everything I want to check out is there and if it isn't it will be there soon. The other nice thing is since Westchester is such a small community 9 times out of 10 you don't have to wait for the hot books. Actually to me it feels like what the old Oak Park library felt like before they remodeled it and turned into the taj mahal of all libraries. LOL!. I digress. If you haven't been check it. It's quaint, small and gets the job done.

Mmm, perhaps. The main level is designated for adult reading, internet & computer area, teen lounge area. Upstairs is the 0-14 yo youth section. In the basement is the good ol' Dewey Decimal system in use . The library is undergoing a makeover currently but it's not cluttered and still very much open to be enjoyed by the community and visitors. To acquire a Library Card to check out books , you need a Picture ID, parent or guardians, children can have their own card or under the guardian. You may decide what's best for your particular family unit. Proof of address is required and a picture ID. The library is free to use during Hours of Operation. They are helpful, so just ask for guidance or any necessary questions you may have. There is parking both in the East and West lots. Accessible on Riverside Dr. Parking is Not accessible on Harlem Avenue. The library is a wonderful place to catch up on reading, introducing new topics to your family/friends and promote healthy literacy in our communities for ALL. Great place to visit the offer Dinner & Movie night for only $5 buffet, registration required for adult services. They have a monthly program, lists all the book clubs and activities for all ages.if you sign up for a library card, you will review the schedule by email once per month.

They are huge fans of the magnetic tiles, pizza oven play set with cash register, and the large drawing table with a very long roll of paper that allows for endless doodling.

He was a complete distraction. Tried to move to another area to study but they reserved the complete, entire other half of the library to children only, which I would normally understand, but I couldn't even sit there despite no children being present. Didn't want to make a scene, was hoping staff would quiet the person but they let it continue for a half hour or so. Got so frustrated and distracted that I couldn't study, packed up my things and left. Guy was still sitting at the computer talking, whistling, and generally being an enormous distraction. Libraries should be quiet. Library staff should help keep libraries quiet and distraction free the best they can. No effort isn't acceptable.

I would also come here to look for books to take home to read. I do love this location. The staff has changed over the years. But I still get the warm comfortable feeling upon entering. The computers have changed which is a definite bonus. Friendly staff upon entering and leaving. Which is always welcomed. What more could I say I love libraries. This is nice if you're looking for a quiet space and a pretty much confirmed seat. There were plenty of open tables! The entertainment DVD selection was small, but the educational/documentary DVDs were plentiful! (I didn't see any music, now that I think about it.) There was also a very large section of books on tape. The periodicals are set up nicely in this library; I usually forget about them since they're not out in the open, but there is a very dominant place for them. The adult side of the library is small, but the shelves are PACKED. I was impressed by the BIG children's space! Half the library is dedicated to children's media, and it looked like a very nice space: plenty of tables, plenty of books and lots of color. Almost all of the museum passes were in when I visited, so I think this is a good branch to visit if you're trying to hunt down a pass (though the popular Shedd and Field passes were out). Oh, and the staff was really helpful and friendly!

Small scale investment, big impact…read more We started going to the library in late covid, as a safe space to mask and social distance, but a place to go nonetheless. We've grown to love a weekend day at the library, and it's clear this branch is making investments to build its community. Puzzle tables, games, homework help, new toys for play, a beautifully intricate gingerbread house. My kids love hangouts at the library and are becoming avid readers in between.

On the inside it's very much the same as well. There is a very large space behind the check-out counter to set up your laptop and do some work. I visited on a Saturday, so there weren't too many patrons. Despite there not being very many people in the building, it was quite noisy. I can only imagine what it's like when it's more crowded. Seems like it might be hard to get a spot at a computer, but lots of space to work with your own laptop!

I'm hoping that Galewood will get it together soon and build and actual library for their neighborhood. It's definitely more of a kids library than an adults library. Although I do reserve books online for myself and just pick them up here. You can reserve books online at Chicago Public Library and have them delivered to the library of your choice. I choose this one because it's close to me. The librarians are super friendly and helpful. My kids love coming here to play with the toys and legos. When the weather is hot we go outside and get wet in the splash pad. Such a cute set up. Alderman Taliaferro, we are counting on you to step up and find an actual location for Galewood's library.

It is only one room in the fieldhouse of Rutherford Sayre Park. Park for free on the street (parallel or perpendicular) walk up either staircase and open the main door. turn down the left hallway and go to the end to the single room packed with books. They make the most of their space. They have tables with coloring and puzzles for small kids and many many books. If the kids get antsy, you can send them out to the adjacent playground and splash pad. It's also nice that you can request any book online and pick it up here. I live in OP, so I was able to get a CPL card and get access to more books. However, they only have two full-time employees, and so hours are not the best. Make sure you double-check before you go. Also they do not yet have a bookdrop here, you can always return your books at another CPL location like North Austin or West Belmont. Go check out this library!

I have been the patron of a few COOK-COUNTY libraries throughout my life. But none of those…read morelibraries has been as helpful and welcoming as the Stickney Forest View Public Library. The team of people they've assembled truly are remarkable and amazing at what they do. The facility keeps getting upgrades frequently, showing that they are ever evolving with the times and committed to providing the best for the community. They have a great children's section with a wide array of materials (books, audiobooks, video games, science kits, etc.) and programming for elementary age kids. My own children are not old enough to frequent the teen area of the library but I'm sure that when they are, they will appreciate having a small section of the library for kids of that age as well. We're glad to be able to frequent the SFVPL for many years to come!
