Other than that, nothing really stood out for me this trip. Many stores I'm not used to shopping in, but ultra high end. It really wasn't about shopping this trip. This place is supposedly a high end mall, and I am 100% see the vision. There are 10 floors I believe, but it's only 2-4 stores per floor. They forget to put stores on certain floors in the directory as well. The highlight of the mall in my opinion was the American Girl place. It's large, and really informative and fun. I walked around a bit and they have a decent spread of stores. Fashion. Accessories. Toys. They even have an art gallery. I didn't talk to anyone, really. I shopped at Aeropostale, one of my favorite brands, looked around and that concluded my trip. It's a nice place for people touring, but don't make way for it while planning your trip. Think of it as a plan B. If I lived in Chicago, I wouldn't see this mall as a regular place to shop.

I couldn't decide on one place, so I got a little bit of food from several of the restaurants, including a fantastic Chicago dog. Service was excellent and efficient. What a fun mall experience.

Richard J. Daley proclaimed it as "the greatest real estate deal in history." The Illinois Center development is a prominent mixed-use complex situated between Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River. It encompasses a significant portion of the skyline and includes office buildings, residential towers, hotels (Hyatt Regency), and retail spaces such as Just Salad, Burrito Beach, Potbelly, FedEx, a credit union and a dentist office. There is also access to the Pedway for underground travel during inclement weather. The concierge at 111 is helpful but sometimes busy. There is a nice selection of foods. The parking rates are a reasonable price. The view of the Chicago River and Trump Tower are a nice distraction. It's extremely difficult to get work done with the captivating panorama.

Illinois Center is not great unless you have a purpose there, like work. There's restaurants, but…read morethey actually close kind of early (at least the Just Salad does; Potbelly seems to stay open a bit later) and the LAZ parking office is in here. Chicago Architecture Foundation has a space here, which makes sense since the boat tours they run are directly across the street. It's also part of the medway. It's connected to the Hyatt Regency, which can be useful if you're staying in the hotel and park beneath the building. But in general, it's not really worth a visit.

There's about three floors that are similar to a mall with multiple shopping areas and a food court. There is one sit down restaurant that has a huge bar and views over the river. If you're staying at the Holiday Inn downtown or the Voco downtown, there's a convenient walkway over the street so you don't even need to go outside. The food court has a huge variety of quick service restaurants: salads, barbecue, sushi, Chinese, sandwiches, and fried chicken. Multiple restaurants allow you to order food ahead and pick it up so you don't have to wait in long lines. Most of the building is office space so if you're here around 8 or 9 AM, lunchtime, or 4 to 6 PM, it's crazy busy. There are a couple entrances that have those rotating doors. My first morning here I was entering from the street level through one of those and a lady behind me came and pushed the door really fast. It was all I could do to step out the door without having to go around again. She then rushed by me and almost ran up the escalator. She must have been late for work compared to me, a wandering tourist. If you're in the area, check this place out.

I was followed around today by an associate who was very aggressive even when I told her I was…read morefine. She kept trying to take my clothes or get me in a fitting room and asking me numerous questions. Even in the fitting room she came in at one point when I have half dressed and overall I couldn't feel at peace while I was shopping. It was utterly annoying experience and I was the only one being harrassed, as when I heard other customers asking who helped them, all of them said no one, yet I had the displeasure of having someone following me into every freaking aisle. If you're going to think I'm stealing or whatever, please do so quietly!

This is my favorite place to chillax during the work day…read more It's the best during the summer b/c you can sit outside by the fountain, steps or mosaic wall. Read a mag, space out, people watch, yap on the phone, sleep : ) During colder days I will hang in the main floor lobby. They have leather armchairs that are great to slip into a 20 minute cat nap. There's also a Starbucks with very friendly baristas. Plus, there's the cafeteria in the basement that has plenty of seating. And if you need an ATM, you're in luck b/c they're all over the place!

The total came out to be less than what I had expected which was a nice surprise. Didn't have to wait long to pay either and change rooms were relatively empty. Although I did go on a Thursday. Parking is expensive around this area so my hubby dropped me off to shop. Also it's right next to my other favorite shop, Uniqlo! Block 37 has all the best shops and is super convenient and walkable.
