Also I just saw my doctor and she refused to spell the name of my suspected disorder for me or put it in the virtual visit chat, despite my hearing loss. She assured me that a 3rd party provider would make the information available to me, so it wasn't necessary. the 3rd party provider who she works with a lot won't give it to me for another month, and nobody at the clinic will call me back to give me the name of the disorder, or give me the report the person I'm being referred to will need, or even tell me where I can sign a release to have that send over. I'm told it may be days before anyone gets back to me even about the name of the disorder. Absurd. I expected some delays and lateness from a respected specialist in a small field. I didn't expect significant barriers on every single contact. Happy to have my referral and move on. EDIT: Finally got the name of the thing she was referring me for and it's a form of dwarfism and has nothing to do with any of my reported symptoms. I'm above average height. So either she didn't even google the thing or she knows it's absurd doesn't care. The report also suggested I may have the thing I was trying to see the doctor about initially, but she LAUGHED at my noting that the symptoms had changed in the past year and refused the diagnosis, or even referrals for physical therapists who know about the general category of problem I'm having. Listens carefully and responds immediately to concerns. She made me feel comfortable and never like I was just another appointment in her day. I had been looking for a physician that made me feel she cares, and I just found Dr. Shakerin. Now I understand why it is so hard to get an appointment with her, so worth it. Her nurse was very friendly as well. The appointment line staff are not as friendly, but not rude either.

The provider at the clinic and all other service that we have received at Allina Women's Health clinic had been impeccable, but her attitude really tarnished everything. She hanged up the phone on us as we were speaking and said the nurse should call instead. I hope there is better training of the support staff because patients really deserve better. I pray I could see how she documented that interaction. As a health care provider myself, it was appalling.

She conversed like a caring person and the dialouge was not generic but targeted to the individual patient, me. She knew as I know each patient is different. We are not all the same. She was knowledgeable, kind, patient, understanding and great at explaining medical diagnosis AS well as surgical procedures in laymens terms. AND... WOW! I have a pretty rare medical condition, and information I found indicated that the medications prescribed could cause issues. And yes, I know there's a lot of false information online, which is Why I Called. I told him what happened to me and he basically called me a liar. I had a severe reaction to Zofran while the paramedics were working on me. My blood pressure, according to paramedics, was 80/40. I told him that and he said, verbatim, "No it wasn't." I told him the paramedics had to try 3 times to even get a blood pressure on me. He said, verbatim, "No they didn't." My husband was in the room when paramedics were there and saw/heard all of this. I told Smiley I was concerned because my condition is rare and some doctors aren't familiar with it. The doctors have told me this. Smiley said that wasn't true. He said that since the meds were prescribed in hospital there is no issue and I should just take them. So aside from giving me bad medical advice, he was rude and dismissive. I can't help but think that if I was a man I would have gotten better treatment. I don't know if Voyage records phone calls like some businesses do, but if they do I would highly recommend they listen to the call. That being said, everyone else at the Voyage clinic in Osseo are absolutely wonderful and I've gotten great care from them. Big shoutout to Mr. Horn and the rest of the staff.

My treatment is paid in full, and sometimes I simply don't like the color I chose. Your smile matters and makes you feel confident! A band change only takes about 10-12 minutes, but it can be difficult to get squeezed in for a quick visit. It would be great if the office offered specific days or times for these short appointments. I think that small change would make the overall patient experience even better.
