I brought my pug there after moving to the area. I'm not a fan of them taking my dog for long periods of time out of my sight. Upon return my pug was mortified - he would not leave my side for the rest of the time there or the day. Upon returning home he was limping - I noticed that they cracked one of his nails, and didn't fully cut one off leaving him in pain. They try to push things on you and almost shame you if you don't agree to the same day services. They are expensive and while I understand that one of the vets has pugs and she seems amazing - the older vet was very blunt and had no bedside manner. My dog is my baby and I would expect the vet to treat my dog as he/she was a pediatrician treating a child. The office manager was great - I called back to just state the problem we were having and she apologized and told me the tech was new and she was in training. read more

Warning - Sad review ahead. I wish I was a client of this vet office sooner. I had been troubleshooting issues with my cat for a while with other doctors. After I asked my parents about who they take their dog to, they gave me the office info. When I was able to get an appointment (holidays threw a big shitty wrench in things), it was a bad news bears kind of situation. I got stuck waiting on results over a weekend, no improvement by Monday, etc etc. Dr Abernathy saw me through everything and she is an absolute gem of a human being. The big if of -if- I wanted to consider treatment in a case that had a low expectation of recovery and more than a few months of time added came up. She told me about what she had done for her pets in the past and how difficult it would be if I went that route (and it would need an icu type of facility instead of this smaller hospital). She also told me about how ultrasound doctors in the vet world are harder and harder to find, extending some additional tips for getting same-day appointments elsewhere rather than the once a week system they have with an independent vet. She was incredibly kind offering meds for a couple days to make whatever decision I needed to make. I picked the kinder, more humane one and made an appointment shortly after for euthanasia. The entire staff was so sweet. They let me take all the time I needed there in their quiet room, just like when I took longer than normal at the previous appointment trying to make sense of everything. Dr. Abernathy let me make choices that probably didn't matter (my cat was high as a kite the entire day, she probably didn't notice going out wrapped up in my blanket vs the office's blanket) but allowed me to at least feel a bit better about it all. I was surprised to find a card signed by everyone there plus paw prints and a little glass bottle of hair in my mailbox a little while later. I hate that I had to put my little nugget down but I couldn't have found a more caring and compassionate doctor/office to help me. read more

Very unhappy. We have be going to vet for over 15 years and board our border collie all the time. This morning called my dog keeps checking and coughing. They said too busy to see.. doctors over worked. Then hire another, poor service And appear to only care about money. The took my beautiful Havanese puppy and desecrated her. Changed groomers, but never told me and this guy really botched her. I cry every time I look at her. And it is OAKHURST VETERINARY CENTER'S fault. They lose very difficult to replace dental orthotics THEIR VET ORDERED HER TO USE. (So therefore the did NOTHING prescribed by their own vet. I wish I can give it a zero but yelp doesn't allow it. We waited a month to get an appointment for our beautiful rescue dog. When my husband got here for the appointment, he was told it was canceled because the groomer had a headache. We rescheduled the Appointment. To our surprise, we got charged $75.plus tax for the groom. PLUS, they charged us $32. To extract her anal glands, which every where I have been that is included. My dog did not look like she got groomed. My neighbors could not believe this place does such a horrific job and add all the drama it makes it worst. When my husband arrived to pick up our dog, the groomer was rude and disrespectful to my husband. Our dog was the first one there, because apparently they don't make appointments which is new to me. It's first come first serve; yet, she chose to groomed other dogs and make my husband wait 3 hours in the parking lot. Avoid this place like a plague. read more

My dog/puppy is like a child to me. Dr Tindle and her staff love my fur baby as much as I do! This is the first animal I have purchased. I got her as a puppy and they have provided exceptional service. They have provided me with all the tools I need as a first time puppy owner. Sally is created with open arms and the staff treat her like a celebrity! I received a phone call from Dr Tindle after her wellness exam and grooming. The Dr spent 15 min explaining what they did, what to expect and when Sally would be ready for pick up. At her appointment to be spayed, the dr and staff greeted us with open arms again! Today I inquired about daycare service pricing and bringing my two dogs in to get use to the facility before being left alone. I had previously taken my other dog in for veterinary care and was happy that they offered grooming, boarding, and daycare all at one location. I was informed that the owner has a breed restriction policy and that my dog wouldn't be eligible for daycare services based on his appearance. Any dog that appears to be a bully breed, husky, rottweiler, etc. are excluded. It is a liability to have certain breeds socialize with other dogs. My alternative option was boarding my dog. Nowhere on your website does it state that you have a strict breed restriction policy for daycare. This is concerning as a pet parent, because how can I be assured that your facility will provide the same level of care to my dogs as you would ones that aren't considered a "restricted breed" while I'm not present? This isn't the first time my dog has been judged, or feared because of his appearance. I can typically brush it off and many people change their mind when they see that he has a sweet and kind disposition, with a submissive temperament. Its incredibly disheartening that a veterinary practice made me feel like my dog was no more than a liability today. read more

What can I say other than Oakhurst is very fortunate to have Dr Tyndall. From the moment she walked in the compassion and caring she showed not only to myself but to my Chloe kitty was beyond anything I've ever encountered at other places in my life of having pets as a kid and adult. I don't mean to disparage other veterinarians but so many have zero "bed side manner". Some can be cold and standoffish at least in my past experiences. And this can only be a negative to the client's experience especially one like mine where my beloved kitty had to eventually be put to rest. Dr Tyndall was that extra emotional support that I think all in my situation need from a professional. When my time of grieving is over and I'm ready for another family member as long as Dr Tyndall is at Oakhurst that is the only place I will be going! And not to be left out but sadly I didn't grab any names, the receptionist who was there a couple times I had to come in as well as the gentleman who I assume was a tech that took Chloe one time were great too. They were helpful and also displayed that ever so important concern. There was another female tech and I assume another receptionist at one point I interacted with and all the same applies to them. I also had a phone call from I believe was Dr Taylor, he as well was great. He didn't make me feel rushed on the phone and graciously answered all my questions. Thanks to all of you! read more

The emailed report card was great for us to share with her regular vet and had all the instructions for us to follow. We have only been with Oakhurst for a few months but with 3 pets (one being a puppy) we've been a few times this year! I have to say that each visit has exceeded expectations... especially Dr Donovan. She's taken my difficult 65 lb hound mix and handled him each time. When your Dr lays on the floor to get an aspirate of a lump on his chest while I hold him up by the arm pits and the vet tech feeds him peanut butter... you know you've found someone who's willing to not only do what it takes to get results but work with the animal to make it happen with as little as stress as possible. They explain the course of action and any associated costs before proceeding. Always very careful with my dog because they know she's very protective of me. It's been our experience and opinion; that the Docs there have no real medical know-how; Oakhurst is just a money-making-machine; what will cost you $50 in any other Vet Clinic; will probably cost you $300 at Oakhurst; and your pet will not be better off for it, either.
