Had an issue come up recently; called the Troy office (my usual office) in the morning and they offered me an appt. two days out, unless I could drive to Birmingham, and they could squeeze me in that very day. So, I took the Birmingham office appt., and am so glad I did! I had an appt. w Dr. Ceritano, O.D., and she was fantastic, she is a very kind and calm presence, made sure to explain everything she was doing, what to do at home w my medicine, and follow-up info (if needed). Not only was she fantastic, but so was the nurse who I met with first for measurements and drops, and the front office staff! This place ran like a well oiled machine! I was in and out in under 30mins, and my issue has since resolved. Thanks all! read more

This is my fourth and final year as a patient here. While the doctors are friendly and kind, the administrative side of things is a disaster. I only need to visit once a year, but each time, they are significantly late. Last year, I waited 50 minutes past my appointment time, and today, I waited another 45 minutes after the scheduled time. Please, everyone, we all have work to do! This show a clear lack of respect for patients. Horrible experience. I'm done with this place. read more

This review is only for the office and the optometrists. I was seen by one of the ophthalmologists and the experience was wonderful. However, I saw both optometrists and both times I had to wait over an hour and a half to see the optometrist, and both times they were so rushed that what I was given (prescription for glasses and contacts) was not correct so I had to go back. Getting through took days, with no return phone calls, and overall it took me from Martin Luther King Day to the middle of May to get a pair of glasses that work (had to have them change the lenses twice) and contact lenses which are my old prescription because I got so annoyed I just had the doctor give me the same prescription I have had for two years (from another office...we moved). I spoke to the office manager, but the rest of the experience was the same: long wait time, long time before I could get a follow up appointment, and unsatisfactory results in the glasses and contacts. On top of that, I got an overdue billing notice; I have never received a bill from them. The optician is great, but I will not go back except to see the ophthalmologist. I have never been to an office that was so disorganized. read more

I wish I could rate them below a zero. The last time I was seen by them, over a year ago, I was told that I am at risk for retinal detachment and to come back right away if I develop floaters. I started seeing floaters recently and called to schedule an appointment. I was scheduled for last Friday and I called the office the day before to confirm my copay. The woman I spoke to on the phone asked for my name (not my date of birth) and, after me stating my name, immediately began to reprimand me by saying that my appointment was yesterday and that I am unable to schedule an appointment anymore because I no-showed too many times. I informed her that she must have the wrong person because I haven't been seen in over a year and that I have a confirmation text and email stating the correct appointment date on Friday. She then said "have a nice day" and hung up the phone. I tried calling back in utter shock and disbelief that someone who works for a medical office could be so rude. I don't know if she mistook me for someone else or what, but I hadn't missed my appointment and hadn't missed any in the past. I tried calling back several times and no one answered, so I left a voicemail reiterating all of what happened and how upset I am. Retinal detachment, if left untreated, is a medical emergency resulting in blindness. In the voicemail, I requested that they just cancel the appointment because I was actually shaking and did not want to go anywhere near them. I never received a call back with an apology and now have to wait over a month to be seen by another doctor, which is entirely unnecessary and due to a receptionist who is evidently mentally unstable. Even the person I originally scheduled the appointment with, another person entirely, was also extremely rude. I was having difficulty with finding a day I could be available because I am a college student and she was only offering me appointment on days I had class. The said "Do you want to be seen or not?" after three unavailable options for me. Only after stating that I will just go somewhere else where I'm not verbally abused did she change her tone and make the appointment on Friday. I am still in shock that people in a helping profession can be so abusive and still be in business. I know surely I am not the only one and I urge you to consider going elsewhere for your own safety. read more

I made an appointment for 8:30 and at 9:15 I am still sitting in the waiting room. I have asked the receptionist twice what the hold up is. About 10 people have been called back ahead of me. I still have not received any explanation or apology for the delay. If I didn't have a serious problem that needs looking at I would have walked out of here by now. DO NOT come here. read more

Incredible experience from the front desk to check out. I was in and out within an hour including dilation. The front desk receptionist, ophthalmic technician, provider, and scribe were amazing and so kind. They know how to make patients comfortable. Dr Page was well-mannered and thorough. First of all, this office is dirty and unkempt. There are stains on the floor and ceiling - and overall I was taken aback by the appearance once I walked in. I needed an eye exam and a prescription for new glasses, so I made an appointment last week. They took my insurance information at that time. This morning, I arrived at 8:30am for my 8:40 appt. I filled out my new patient paperwork as asked, and waited. And waited. And waited. For an Hour. After finally being taken back tot the exam room, I inquired about the "refraction fee" they have posted in the waiting room. She told me it was for the prescription, if needed. A fee on top of the exam just for the prescription? What?? This led me to ask more questions about my insurance and what it covers - only to find out that it wouldn't have covered the visit at all!!!! My only choices were to plan to pay out of pocket for whatever they decided to spring on me (since obviously they aren't big into letting their patients know what to expect as far as charges) or to leave. I ended up walking out, and will not be back. Why is it ok to make your patients wait for an hour, or moreover waste my whole morning on what could have been resolved by a phone call before my appointment????? (JUDY - tried to tell me she called me "a bunch" to let me know. It's 2021, Judy - I have caller ID and you did not call me.) This office could have looked into my insurance after I gave them the information on the PHONE, before I came in for my appointment and wasted an hour and a half of my day. They should be a clean up to date facility (especially if they're going to be charging all these random fees). And most of all - STOP WITH THE SHADY BILLING. read more

I just had surgery for cataracts in both eyes with Dr. J. I have only good things to say. The staff at the office and the surgical center are both professional and friendly. The follow up visits have been great and thorough. I have only good things to say about this practice. read more

My initial experience at this office was absolutely wonderful. However when I went back recently for a problem with my eye I was treated extremely bad by the receptionist and the biller at the office. I wanted to speak to the bill or to work out some sort of arrangement for a pending bill from this visit but the conversation between the receptionist and the biller which I could clearly hear was extremely embarrassing and humiliating for me. Due to some financial difficulty Beaumont Hospital which this place is affiliated with told me to present a particular letter wherever I went within the Beaumont system and see if they would help with my billing issues. This appointment where I overheard the conversation, it was suggested that I go to Beaumont hospital because they were not going to see me if I was not willing to pay. That completely was not the case because again I was willing to make payment arrangements. I ended up walking out of the office and and have no intention of ever going back to this location. I followed up and had a conversation with the manager who had absolutely no idea what she could do to make things right for me. I guess my question would be what can be done once a patient has been embarrassed and humiliated. Darn shame because as I said my initial experience there was great and the doctor I saw was great as well. It's just ridiculous that some people do not understand the meaning of customer service. read more
