This year is intentional for me. I've known since last year (2025) that this year, 2026, would shape many things in my life. In preparation for 2027, I had to take up golf. It's a game where "the best business" meetings take place. Therefore, this girl had to learn. I have not been to the driving range as much as I'd like this summer due to a BUSY summer full of travel but I was able to check out this amazing golf course while in VA last week. First it's super Woman Friendly. You will not feel out of place. I love how they have covered bays. I drove up at 1 p.m. and was able to get a bottom covered bay. The green is maintained and easy to play on. They have small golf shop with a few things for sale, but you should be prepared as it's small. Food, I usually like to partake in the restaurants attached to the golf course club house but this is small and not really a "club house". Bring your water, drinks, etc. There are loaner clubs to use at the driving range if you forget yours or are a beginner. They can also rent you a set if you're going on the course. For those who are learning, they have a school! This course is far from where I live but it's big enough that I'd drive to come practice. Friendly staff and price is reasonable considering the area. It's a nice par 3 course with 9 holes. They have various ranges so you can try out different clubs off the tee. Greens are very well maintained. Unfortunately, some people don't fix their divots. So whenever I can I fix multiple divots on the greens. 4 star because of their pricing. Almost $30 just to play 9 hole par 3 is a bit much especially with long wait times. Nice course. It's nothing extraordinary, but keep in mind green fees. Here it's a lot more reasonable. Plus the course with its trees surrounding it, at least allows you to relax a bit. Okay depending on how your play is on any given day. I do enjoy playing here. Also usually you can get tee times. All of the county employees are very friendly. Some have great tips. The driving range is great for unleashing aggression. Sure it's also for driver shots, but I find hammering golf balls for long drives to be therapeutic. My kids have been to the mini golf for a birthday party. Sadly I never bothered to check it out and we live right next to it! We had a great time playing miniature golf here. There was no one actually working at the mini golf area but had signs for us to go inside to pay. It was easy enough. We got our clubs, balls, and score card and started playing. The course was kept clean and tidy but other than that, there's not much excitement here. It's really small and it felt cramped. The courses are really short and the waterfall was not even turned on, even on a Saturday. My kids didn't mind it being small or the fact that the waterfall was not turned on. They still had fun. They have a bunch of benches and picnic tables everywhere along the area. However, the tables were all flipped over and the benches had cones on there telling you not to sit there due to COVID. We went towards the beginning of the day and there was already a big group of people ready to get started. It was easy enough to avoid people but I was surprised how small the course was. read more

This review is for the 9 hole par 3. Just a little on the high side at $20 and $4.50 for a pull cart is a little expensive IMO. It is Fairfax County so I guess they cater to the local crowd who make big bucks living in the County. I played with two other people on a sunny Sat June afternoon. Could not have been a better day for golf. By & large the course was in very good condition. The tee boxes on some of the holes could be upgraded. Number 7 and number 9 are over water and with pin placement , can be quite challenging. They have a double decker driving range so you can stay dry even in the weather. They have the County sponsored Everybody Golf School as well for those who want local lessons. Overall not too bad for a public par 3. read more

Nice location, parking, facilities. It's the staff. I've had a few good experiences with staff, there are a few folks there who know how to talk to customers. Hence, the 2nd star. Unfortunately, there are an equal number of lousy attitudes. As an amateur golfer and someone who has only been to Oak Marr twice, I needed to ask questions about how to work the ball dispenser, where it's ok to leave a set a clubs, and course specific etiquette. On three different interactions with three different staff I was berated, yelled at, and walked away from. Wow! I looked around for Tiger Woods and Mickelson, but it turns out they don't golf at Oak Marr. Ever. So I don't get the attitude. Went to the driving range and used their short game area. I'll hit up their par 3 course at some point and will update this review. Tons of potential here. Lots of hitting bays with over half of them covered and heated. Mats were either the plush dark green ones or the light green ones that give you a tighter lie. Range balls are just okay. Most were starting to show their age; they also throw in some very, very old found golf balls that should be tossed away. Not a lot of great targets and you can't see how far a ball is traveling after 200 yards unless you're at the very far right side of the range. They are also having trouble growing grass out on the range. It's a little pricey for what you get, but I also understand the area where Oak Marr is located. Practice green is tucked behind the right side of the range. Wonderful things about it are it's a big area, there are designated chipping and putting areas, and it's free. Bad side is just how slow and bumpy the green is even on the putting only side. I know it's early in the season but I stopped putting after a couple of strokes. Again a ton of potential here. If they were to hire a really good greenskeeper and a crew he/she can work with, this driving range could be top notch. read more

I generally go to Oak-Marr Golf course for both the Driving Range and a round of Golf. The Driving Range is good size with the lower level and upper levels. They also have space allocated for putting and chipping. The Golf training is good - have taken some lessons from the guys there. Golf course - 9 hole, par 3 course. The course is fast or slow depending on the moisture on the surface and the mowing. Makes it kinda fun if you play there regularly. There are 2 holes with water hazards but the rest of the holes are standard found at other public courses. Bad - The holes are too close to each other so watch out for a wild swing. read more

This review is about PGA Professional Soo Young Lee. I have worked with him twice and can't say enough about how great he is as an instructor. I've played for about seven years and have worked with many coaches. I have not been able to take what they've taught me and play well on the course. Working with Coach Lee he has you work on the most important thing which is solid contact and compressing the ball. There are no tricks or items used in order to get this, we just repeat solid contact with the ground and getting the tempo right. I'm only starting to play golf and am not good at all, but I love playing it and hitting balls. The driving range here is great, plenty of lanes to hit, including a deck. There are plenty of targets and markers for you to aim at and to gauge your distance. They also have a small sand bank area to practice your chipping and such. 20$ will give 5 tokens and two tokens is a full basket, a decent amount to hit by yourself. Arrived with my girlfriend who has never played golf and was just wanting to walk along with me to get some sun and exercise. Turns out I would have to pay full price for both of us just for her to walk along and not play. That really ticked me off, with it being a par 3 public course and not exactly busy even on a Sunday. They also required me to rent clubs for her, because even though she would not be playing she is not allowed to share a bag with me. Fast forward to end of our round, she doesn't play and I end up carrying her bag for her half the time. So why 4 stars? Well outside of being nickel and dimed it was a good golfing experience. I do understand the staff was probably just having to enforce strict rules set by someone else. It is Fairfax County after all. They were friendly otherwise. The course itself was the best maintained par 3 course I have ever seen. Granted I haven't played many par 3 tracks, but most are in pitiful condition and pretty much a joke. My husband and son played there a few times. He made an online reservation for a twosome, him and my son, and when they showed up, the starter insisted they be paired up with a single. The first time they accepted this pair up and there was nobody behind them. The second, same situation and they did not accept the pair up and the starter argued with my husband. He said he didn't request a twosome in the online notes, but he allowed them to play alone. There were no golfers behind them the whole time they played. The people that work there need to understand that parents with kids often like to play alone and enjoy the bonding time together. Nice 9 hole golf course and driving range. Have played here a ton of times. The only downside here is the attitude of the people working at the clubhouse. Most often times get a bad attitude from the people at the front and they are very inflexible. Showed up 5 minutes before my tee time today and said it was too late and I would have to wait two hours. Desperately need customer service training here. My friend and I are what you would call golf posers. He pays for lessons, I pretend to mimic what Tiger Woods does. I bum other people's clubs. I pretend to know what the hell I'm talking about with respect to birdies and bogeys. Sad, isn't it? The driving range has a pretty big capacity. If you can't find a spot on the bottom level, the upper deck usually has empty spaces. Buckets of balls are about 6-7 dollars each but can be cheaper if you buy a token card. The tokens are what you use to retrieve buckets. I've played the course once and I sucked hardcore. Yeah, I lost a bunch of balls but then again, they belonged to my friend. Sucks for him. I think most of them landed in the woods somewhere. There are 9 holes and two of the holes have water traps. 2 or 3 of the holes have wooded areas that you might lose your shots in. In the summer, they have water for golfers every couple of holes. When we played, there was an old man driving around in a golf cart, another witness to my horrible game. All in all, not a bad place to play or just hit a few shots on the driving range. Surprisingly, there are a lot of kids on the driving range. Maybe their parents are trying to get them on the PGA circuit. Never played the mini golf course here, but I'd probably cheat anyway. read more

I've been playing golf since I was seven or eight years old I'm in my 50s so I've seen a lot of golf courses - golf complexes driving ranges etc. Overall Oak Marr is an excellent facility for all levels of golfer. The driving range has the covered/heated two level boxes. It also has plenty of the open air slots. The ball machines are right there close by. The prices are fair and they have a scaled purchase if you are going to hit a lot of balls or will be coming back - I think they have a $20 five token deal. Overall the complex grounds are maintained quite well although I have been there in past years when it was the dust bowl out on the range but not a lot you can do I'm sure in August/September in DC. They have a very large putting green, that has been segregated for putting and chipping. Let's be clear - this is a par three golf course. I've seen some comments about the length of the holes "not being built for the long ball" it was;t supposed to be, It's a par three course... the next level up from a par three course is an executive course with par 3's and par 4's and then there's regulation with par 3,4 and five's. This is a great par 3 course and if we will talk about the distances, there are two holes that will allow you to use your middle/longer clubs. There's the 180 and 200 yard holes and several others in the 150 yard range. A recent yelp review discussed a lot of the things that I was pleased with as well so I will not dwell on them here. But it has to do with the signage, yard markers etc. all decently maintained. There is another Fairfax County facility called Jefferson Park. That is an executive course with par 3's and par 4's it's in Falls Church on 29. The price is reasonable for nine holes. They have a very good loudspeaker system that clearly announces the name of the next foursome to report to the tee. pace was OK but my last round we were about 20 minutes behind but not much you can do about that. A lot of the golfers there are new / inexperienced and pace of play is not at the forefront of their mind. This is a review of the golf complex and part of that, I assume would be the putt putt golf course. I've never played it so I'm not making review of that. I'm going to assume is at the level comparable to the golf complex. Oak Marr is a great place to hit some balls or if you want to practice your short game you can play a quick round. read more

I'm giving it four stars because it is good for what it was designed for, a community center and a 9 hole par 3 course. It is relatively cheap to play here. A lot of older golfers like to play here but they're not that slow, at least in my experience. It's challenging enough so that you won't get bored but you shouldn't lose any balls here. Oh, there's a couple water holes so maybe you will if it messes with your head. If you're not playing the course, you can practice at the range. There's also a mini golf course there too. I have yet to play it though. Then there's the community center complete with pools, gym, and other things to keep you busy. read more

I've gone to the driving range many times here, and enjoy it because no matter how busy it is, there is always an open spot. The driving range consists of a double decker on one side, and an enclosed/heated area on the other. About 2 weeks ago, I played their par 3, 9 hole course for the first time. There aren't many of these in the area, but they are great when you want to play some golf but not spend the entire day doing so. I did not sign up for the membership programs that allow you to book tee times a week or 2 in advance, so I was only allowed to make reservations 2 days in advance. The staff were all very nice, and I did not have any issues at the golf complex. The greens were well kept, and there is even a bathroom midway for those that rehydrate themselves a little too much. The course is also easy to walk; I carried a half set of clubs and walked the course without passing out. =) read more

Had a lot of fun hitting balls here. There are tons of places to hit from here and most of the golfers here are fairly casual which is nice for beginners. I brought my copy-editor here (thank you Kim V. for coining the term) to teach her a little bit about golf and she was embarrassed of her "developing skills" but we were able to be far enough away from others so she wasn't so self conscious and she could focus on the ball. So to explain...I have golfed at most every Fairfax county course multiple times and have had issues with poorly run operations at all of them from time to time. I've spoke in person with management as well as sending emails and anything I have ever brought up is always dismissed and/or I receive no response. I booked a tee time through THEIR online service for 6:40am. There was an accident and I arrived around 6:20am. I saw a threesome teeing off as I rushed to get inside. I am in the clubhouse at 6:25, ask the starter how I pay for my 6:40 tee time since he was the only person there at the moment. He scolds me and says "WELL YOUR FOURSOME IS ALREADY OUT ON THE GREEN". I said "Okay, I'm sorry, I booked online last night as a solo and I've never golfed here before." He grumbled and said "WELL GOOD THING YOU SHOWED UP NOW, WE HAVE A TOURNAMENT STARTING AT 7, YOU'LL NEED TO PLAY QUICK, BUT YOU CAN GO OUT BY YOURSELF". So....Now, I wait five minutes for the cashier to get up to the counter to take my money. I'm 99% sure there is not a possibility that she could have been less excited to be at work. She literally only said $17, took my card, and gave me a receipt. I'm not sure she wasn't actually asleep. At this point I'm irritated but I'm going to take it in stride and keep moving. After all I'm here to enjoy myself, not to be stressed. But I am still a little bitter that I'm getting scolded because he sent out my tee-time group 20 minutes early. I also remember tee times being available for 7:00am & 7:10am online when I booked my tee time the evening before. So i'm confused, irradiated, and flustered by the whole thing. When he grumbled at me, I should have to walked away, but I didn't. So I rush to the tee box and I'm taking practice swings and ready to tee off at 6:35am. Then, I wait over 15 minutes while the greenskeeper changes the hole placement. Then, on hole 2 I wait another 5 minutes for another groundskeeper to mow the green (He was friendly and stopped when he noticed I was waiting, unlike the greenskeeper on hole 1). At this point I'm starting to wonder...why in the wild, wild, world of sports am I being rushed if the staff is jumbling up tee-times, not ready to get golfers on the course, and then not allowing golfers to move through the course. Then I notice the strangest thing. There is another solo golfer behind me! So either the starter was being rude to just me, or that solo golfer behind me must have gotten not only a stern talking to, but probably a spanking as well. I waited at EVERY tee box. The threesome in front of me had a 40 minute headstart considering they got out 20 minutes before their scheduled tee time, and I had 20 minutes of waiting on greenskeepers on the first two holes. The gentleman behind me was waiting for me as well at about half the boxes, especially when the threesome was goofing around in front of us. As I walked off hole nine (despite all the pace issues, it's a quick round), this so called tournament looked to just be kicking off. I think there was one group that teed off and then another that was on the first tee. If the tournament is the priority, I get it, but don't book tee times, take money, and treat customers like crap. The course itself was in nice condition. It's not a course for just a wedge and a putter. You'll need some longer irons. I think the price point ($17) is a bit high for a weekday. The way the course is set up you could easily get most players in and out within an hour. That's a 10 dollar weekday course and 15 on the weekends. When you throw on the customer service it's a course they would have to pay me to come play again. read more

Started a short game class here with the famous Benny N. He's very professional, informative and in tune with the game. The golf complex is set back behind the main rec center. The pro shop is small and simple but friendly folks man the desk. They have coffee and junk food and clean restrooms. The driving range is typically and there is lots of parking. read more

Oh come on - it's a county course. The mats are worn thin. The range balls are beat up. The range itself needs lots of water and targets. And, it's almost always jammed. If you are a beginner, then it's OK, as long as you don't hit a million balls on each hole. The crowded conditions, caused by slow play, could use some attention, but the county wants as much money as possible and someone gentling pushing slow play forward would probably not be welcomed. Golf is not a forever sport. If you can't keep up, pick up the ball and move on. read more

BLUF: The golf at Oak Marr golf course isn't built for the long ball. In fact it's quite short but it's a very well maintained 9-hole course with great practice facilities. Add in the mere cost of $17.00 per game and it's well worth the trip. Ranges: Great quality all the way around. Driving: There are 2 driving ranges, one for the public and the other for the golf school. This arrangement makes it easy for all levels to play without interfering with one another...I just wish every place did it this way, lol. Although I'm not a fan of artificial matting, which is what they use here at least Oak Marr has newer mats with multiple rubber tees at each station making it easier to set your height of the ball. I also liked that the distances are not only clearly marked but also accommodate for distances up to 260yds and more. What I really appreciated was the price for a bucket of balls. $7.00 per bucket but the more you buy, the cheaper it gets. I went with the 5 buckets for $20.00 and saved some tokens for next time. One other thing...if you don't have clubs don't worry they have some to barrow for the range, no charge. Sand/Chipping/Putting: This practice area northwest of the clubhouse and directly left (west) of the 1st Tee. It's quite large and one of the better ones I've come across. I enjoy this course but that reason alone would have me coming back. Fairways: Being a 9-hole Par 3 course the fairways are all pretty short and straight with the longest being the 3rd and 4th holes with a 187 and 200 respectively. That said there is a slight slope, a couple water hazards (one on hole 3) to contend with not to mention the sand traps that surround the green at 6 and 7. Because of it's size I found all the Tee Boxes well cared for from Blue to Red. Greens: Moderate sized and well cared for with a medium speed and no dramatic breaks that I can recall. I did find the apron surrounding the greens very forgiving and it could probably be cut a little longer if they wanted to increase the difficulty of the course. Sand Traps: I found the Sand traps 3 times this day but appreciated the moderate to low bunker height allowing me to get to the green with a single stroke from the trap...a rarity for me. Overall: This is a good course at a great price that takes you away from the noises of the city and into the relaxing atmosphere of the woodlands. Although it may not feel crowded it is quite busy so be sure to make a reservation if you expect to get a tee time 703-255-5390. All in all the best value is the price and solitude so I find it A-OK with me, 3 Stars. read more

So my golf swing has some gotten all jacked up so I came to the range to work it out.. I can't be on the course with a swing like Charles Barkley. I've visited this establishment several times, I use to live around the corner from it. The staff is great and the facilities a well kept. Sad part about my visit is that I couldn't get my swing together so I'm going to sign up for lessons.. The instructors here are great, I just didn't keep practicing what I learned previously. I went here today with my cousin and her family while visiting them in Virginia to play miniature golf. Its very simple and no frills, but at $4 a person it really doesn't matter whether there is a windmill or not. Overall a pretty disappointing place to play golf. "TPC Oak Marr" is a fairly fun and challenging set of par 3s, but the staff seem to believe that it is a 5-star resort. Very strict and unfriendly in the clubhouse, completely unwilling to let you squeeze in early/for another round. Also, there's a roaming "Marshall" who dropped by 3 or 4 times to make sure we were following the rules . The 5-some in front of us with multiple children holding us up severely was deemed less of a problem than we were, though. read more
