They have a giant lake for fishing, you can fish from the dock areas or bring or rent a non-gas powered boat. You can also rent a canoe or paddle boat but all the rental stuff is only open during spring/summer They have a 5 mile trail along the lake that's a nice walk but can be crowded when the weather is good and pay attention since the trail entrance isn't marked as clearly as it could be. They also have mini golf, a train, playgrounds and some other stuff. It's free for Fairfax County residents (glad we're getting something for our taxes) and $10 for everyone else but of course the rentals, mini golf, train, etc. cost extra. There's a decent amount of parking but go early on a nice day or you might have a hard time grabbing a spot. I'll come back here for sure to walk the trail and maybe do a little fishing or rent a boat

NOVA Disc Golf is responsible for posting rules, marking the course and ensuring players follow park rules. Parking is either at the large lot at 4th and N Manchester or one of the smaller paved lots on Carlin Springs Road. Course hours are from sunup to 30 minutes after sunset. The course is not lighted. There are restrooms and water fountains at the larger parking lot by the playground. Park rangers patrol the area frequently to ensure it remains a fun and safe recreational public park.

I am sharing this for documentation of an injury that happened at the Bluemont course today…read more(5/9/26) around 11am. context: family and I disc-golfed today. as i finished hole 1 with my 3yo kid by my side, we were about to start hole 2. we didnt hear any warning or a "fore" call. incident: someone threw a mid-range disc into my kid's face. the throw came from the direction of hole 2 towards hole 3. my kid bled from their nose and mouth; blood all over their face and clothes. afterwards: the thrower did *NOT* come over to check on us after hitting us with a throw, nor apologized. I went over to tell them what happened and they had excuses and even tried to blame us for being in the way. I gave them a piece of my mind but had no way to hold the thrower accountable. the beveled edge disc was so close to hitting my kid's eyes. these two adult men cowards tried to wait for us to leave so they can go on playing. review: this is horrible behavior as people in public space and definitely worse as members in the frisbee community. it is just so wrong and unfair that these two grown men to hurt someone.. a small child... and acted like nothing happened and showed no remorse. call to action: 1. Be on the look out for a heavy-set asian man, short black hair with sunglasses and a medium built latino man with ear-length curly black hair. both about 5"7" to 5'9" tall and in their mid- to late-30s. they cant hit the basket but will shamelessly hit a child . losers. 2. dont hit people with a disc golf. if you do, be a normal person and help the person you injured and apologize. simple, right?

Just behind the D.C. Workhouse and Reformatory development is a large public park that provides so…read moremuch peace. Here's why you should visit if you're in the area: 1) Trails: There are a number of trails of all lengths perfect for a little hike with small kids. The trails are even enough that you could job on them, but they aren't paved so strollers are not recommended. 2) History: There are several plaques that tell the land's history being the property of a Revolutionary War hero. 3) Frisbee Golf: There's a long course with markers and all. 4) Workout Equipment: There are several stations to get a good arm and leg workout in. 5) Pond: There's a little pond that one of the trails leads to. Some even fish in it off of the dock. 6) Open Space: There are a few wide grassy areas on hills perfect for do walkers.

There's a ton of parking, a tiny play area (I wanted to say playground but it's really not), and a floating dock at the pond where you can fish. This park is part of a bigger walkway/trail system which we have not as of yet explored. It would be nice if they had restrooms, so thankfully we live fairly close.

Seems like he had the entire gamut -- blow up couch, blow up bed, portable grill, speakers for music, bug repellent, food, and libations ;-) You will hear everything that is nature at night. I swear I heard a fox howling/barking. All-in-all, it was a cool experience...five days later, still itching from those bites. Oh! There's a water park too...arrive early to get in because they do have a capacity limit.

I also remember having a great time on the lake paddle boating and swimming in the big "L" shaped pool. Fast forward decades later, I have taken a liking to camping. I still consider myself a novice, and over the last 3yrs, I have accumulated some cool stuff. I have an annual camping trip with a large group next month, but I wanted to do a small intimate trip to one of my favorite childhood places. I must say, Lake Fairfax has one big change from when I was a child. It now has a HUGE waterpark that has giganic water slides as soon as you enter. I was a little disappointed to hear from the check-in Park attendant, who had the personality of a disinterested teenager, that the L shaped pool I referenced was no longer there. My picture of laying poolside or chillin in the pool were shattered, because with waterparks, comes tons and tons of young kids.. and honestly, I would just rather not..LOL! Once we made it to our assigned camping lot, I was super pleased at how close we were to the extremely clean rest rooms that were equipped with showers. The camping site was noticeably quiet, almost library quiet, so that suprised me a little. I didn't want to disrupt the flow, so I kept my speaker at a low level. :) All in all, I had a memorable experience at Lake Fairfax Park and I can definitely see myself coming back sometime next Spring/Summer!!

This park is adorable and packed with way more than I expected! I went here a bunch of times this…read moresummer and fall, and every time I was happy with the scenery and the offerings. There are several different places to park and a few different entrances, depending on whether you're interested in the fields, the playgrounds, the disc golf or the trails. So much to choose from! I went for the trails, which is connected to the W&OD that is 40-plus miles long and Four Mile Run. So, pick the one you'd like, and loop around back to your parking spot. I really like this park! You can also find a bench and just hang out near some trees or the fields. You can bring a blanket and toss around a frisbee and have a little picnic. You can bring your children and let them run around and play. What a find in NoVa!
